On Their Way

Tempest brought up the address on Morris. "Hmm, they live with a collector of vintage appliances. Also, they do repairs."

Maia narrowed her eyes. "That place looks familiar. I think we passed by there."

Diana shook. "Wait, you pay attention when we travel?"

Maia scoffed. "I was bored and I don't think humans paid me any heed. I get a little stiff on the roof rack and have to unfreeze periodically."

Morris printed out the directions. Tempest handed them to Maia.

"Do you have room for two more passengers?" Tempest asked.

Diana paused. "Well, the front seats are available."

Tempest was hoisted into the driver's side seat. Slate climbed into the front passenger seat.

Everyone else got into their places.

"Luckily, this won't be a long trip," Maia said. She secured the straps.

Twilight found a space between Lief and Candy on the shelf. She stared into space. "I brought the collectors to our door..."

"They haven't shown up yet," Papaya said.

"But still, they're after me," Twilight replied.

Forrest pressed pause. Episodes of that old army show he loved could wait.

"All right, vacuums!" Forrest said. "My old master was in the army. I was a wedding present. We must protect the weak."

Keith tried not to laugh.

"We must keep watch for the Collectors," Forrest continued. "I'll be on first watch."

"I'll be next!" Scylla shouted.

A smile crossed the old Kirby's face. "That's the spirit, young lady. There's a lamp in danger and we must keep her and the others safe."
