Ok so if you don't like gay stuff don't read this story or most of my stories, I happen to love writing it because it's easier for me to imagine and I find it adorable, I don't like homophobia and to those people who claim there's no homosexuality in the canon, READ THE DAMN TITLE OF THIS PLATFORM its called FAN FICTION not "keep with the show" I'll pair whoever I want together because glacier is adorable and you can't convince me otherwise. ok, now that little rant is done, this is the first chapter where the quilt is going to start coming into play for the theme of this story. Flu season in Ninjago was always the worst and Kai hated every minute of the winter months. The quilt had been finished last week and Zane had wrapped the quilt around his sick brother, it was usually Zane's job to take care of the residents of the bounty when they were injured or sick. Zane was thoroughly exhausted from having to take care of all the ninja at once, Kai and Lloyd had the flu, Jay broke his arm during training, Nya was a hormonal mess for reasons only Zane and Jay knew right now, and Cole had an ear infection. Zane was trying to take care of all of them even though his own health was beginning to degrade. He was sore and tired and the only ninja currently able to defend Ninjago. The alarm on the bounty went off and Zane grabbed his weapons and went out to face the threat, hoping his friends would be able to cope for an hour without him. Thankfully the issue was just a couple of skeleton warriors causing some trouble, but Zane didn't get away unscathed because he was seriously outnumbered. He returned home, quickly wrapped a few bandages around his wounds and went back to tending to his family, at this point he still had to make dinner and train for an hour. He made soup for the sick ninja, several weird things Nya wanted and something easy for Jay to eat with his non-dominant hand before getting all the ninja into the living room and occupied with the cute animal movie Nya wanted to watch. Zane sighed at the empty soup pot and added dishes to his list of things to do. He decided to forgo dinner for himself again and quickly got things cleaned up before going to train, all the ninja besides him were currently wrapped in the quilt and occupied with the movie. Around nine he finally got all of them to bed with the proper stuff to make sure they'd be ok through the night, though he fully expected them to call for him every hour. It was midnight before he finally crawled exhausted into bed beside Cole who wrapped his arm around Zane. As Zane predicted he heard Kai calling for him less than an hour later
"What do you need Kai?" asked Zane tiredly
"Water," said Kai, Zane handed him the glass that was on the bedside table, before Zane could climb back in bed however he heard Nya call him. Jay was fast asleep.
"Yes Nya, what do you need, sister?" asked Zane
"I want snow cones and funnel cake from Mega Monster Amusement Park," said Nya. Zane sighed and nodded, he wrote a note for Cole in case he woke up and Zane wasn't back yet. The amusement park was closed except the security guard, Zane explained the situation and the guard chuckled before making the required Items.
"Thank you for this, I understand how inconvenient and unconventional this is," said Zane
"Don't worry about it man, believe it or not, this is not the first time I've had to make carnival food for an expectant mother late at night, my own wife demanded cotton candy and fried dough at midnight with our first kid, though I'm surprised you are getting the items, normally the husband gets them
"Her fiance broke his arm and sleeps like a log and I am the only other person who knows about the pregnancy," said Zane
"Well that makes sense," said the security guard with a chuckle. Zane left to go back to the bounty, it was almost dawn when he finally got all the ninja comfortable, and by then he had to start breakfast. The first to get up was Cole who came into the kitchen and hugged Zane from behind
"I saw your note, did you get any sleep last night?" asked Cole softly
"No, but I'm fine," said Zane. Cole looked doubtful
"We have an hour before the others wake up, once you finish here come cuddle with me on the couch," said Cole
"You should be resting in bed not up and about," said Zane
"I'm feeling a lot better today, please honey, you need rest too," said Cole. Zane sighed
"Go back to bed Cole, I'll be there in a bit," said Zane
"Good, you better," said Cole kissing Zane softly. Zane finished the individual breakfasts for his family and left a note saying each one was in the fridge. Zane climbed in beside Cole and slept. Cole woke up a while later and climbed out of bed, careful not to disturb his sleeping boyfriend. He went into the living room where the ninja were huddled, shivering, the heat had stopped working
"C-Cole, wheres Z-Zane? Is he fixing the heat?" asked Kai
"Zane's sleeping, he didn't exactly get any rest last night," said Cole, Nya looked sheepish
"Well wake him up and have him fix the heat," said Jay
"Guys come on, Zane shouldn't have to do everything for us, he needs rest too, we've been running him ragged all week," said Cole
"What do you expect us to do, My arm is broken, Kai and Lloyd have the flu, Nya's pregnant, and you have an ear infection," said Jay, quickly covering his mouth after realizing what he revealed.
"Jay, you're lucky I have the flu otherwise I'd kill you," said Kai lowly. Zane came out of his room
"Good, Zane you're up, the heat broke," said Lloyd
"I'll fix it," said Zane with a nod, he was still exhausted and sore
"Baby you know I'd help but I have no clue about furnaces," said Cole,
"It's fine I can handle it," said Zane. Cole watched as Zane went to complete yet another task needlessly piled onto him. That night Zane didn't get to bed until 2, Cole was still awake waiting for him
" Hey baby," said Cole softly
"Cole why are you still awake, you still need to rest" exclaimed Zane
"So do you, baby, come here," said Cole pulling Zane close. Zane rested his head on Cole's chest and fell asleep. An hour later he heard Lloyd calling for him. Zane sighed and got up to go take care of the green ninja.
