AN: Thank you all for reading so far! One of my classes is ending very soon so I might not post as often, but expect at least once a week. I'm enjoying writing this too much to quit.

Guest: I'm happy you're enjoying this. I'm excited about my story so far too. :)

Chapter 2:

"It's a Bug! Mouse! Bug Mouse!" Marinette said as she started throwing things at the little creature that appeared after the glowing ball dissipated. It just smiled and spoke to her in a calm voice. That had Marinette thinking she was used to this kind of reaction. A few seconds later she had it caught in a mason jar against the floor.

"Alright, if this makes you feel safer."

Marinette put on her best interrogation face, but it turned out looking more like a child's pout. She went with it anyway. "Who are you? What are you? How did you get here? Are you an alien who's going to abduct people? Did you send that stone monster? What -"

"Woah woah woah, please slow down! Let me explain. I'm a kwami, and I grant powers. I didn't send the stone man, but another person with another kwami did."

". . . "

"How does being a superhero sound?" The creature asked and waited for a reply for another minute.

"That sounds pretty cool. I'm sure everyone has imagined themselves as a superhero at one point. But, I have to ask. Why me?" Marinette asked in awe.

"I chose you personally. I see great potential and goodness in you. Now, the longer we talk the longer the Akuma gets to run around hurting people. I'll explain how everything works and you can try being a hero. How does that sound?"

"Sure. What should I call you? You have a name right? I'm Marinette." Marinette said, with a spark of curiosity in her eyes.

It grinned. "Tikki. The name's Tikki. Nice to meet you Marinette."

"So my goal is to catch a corrupt black butterfly, purify it, then throw my 'lucky charm' in the air to put everything back in its place from before the butterfly." Marinette recited as she slipped the earrings into her ears. They both turned back to the computer as Nadja had learned more information regarding said 'akuma.'

"Here we are from our helicopter, looking into the stone giant from above. Look here." She pretty much yelled into the headset as she motioned to the camera man to look outside. The military had a few tanks surrounding him and the general from earlier tried calling to him from a microphone. This only made the giant more upset.

"The name's Stoneheart! And his city is going to pay!" He yelled at them all as he picked tore a chunk of cement from a nearby building and threw it at Nadja's helicopter. The people on the helicopter started screaming as the screen went blank.

Tikki looked back at Marinette. "That butterfly is called an Akuma by the way. You call your lucky charm by simply saying "lucky charm" and throwing the yo-yo into the air."

"Ok. Sounds simple enough. Anything else I need to know about?"

Tikki looked like she was going to say something for a second before changing her mind and saying something else. "Yup! All you have to do now is say "spots on". To de-activate your powers after you're done, say "spots off."

"Spots On?" Marinette questioned.

She never got an answer. Instead she saw Tikki grin excitedly as she was seemingly sucked into the earrings. Marinette felt magic and power wash over her like a blanket. She felt power come into her bones as her heart beat fast, but also strong and firm.

Afterwards she looked into her full length mirror. Oh my gosh, I look like a ladybug version of spiderman. It was just then she heard the concerned voice of her mother call from downstairs.

"Marinette! Are you up there?"

She came up with a fast excuse right on the spot. "Mom! Yes, I got home safely, if that's what you're wondering. I'm studying though, and i'd prefer not to be disturbed."

"Studying? On the first day of school?"

Well, the school idea didn't work. She came up with the first thing that came to mind. Fashion.

"Who said I'm studying for school? I'm studying the fashion trends for this spring."

"Oh, okay then. Have fun! And don't go out of the house for a little while. With Stoneheart still out you could get hurt."

Marinette let out the breath she didn't know she was holding and told her mother she will stay inside. She got a guilty feeling in her stomach from lying, but she knew she had to at least try and stop Stoneheart. If Tikki believed she could, she should at least try.

She got to her balcony and took the yo-yo from her hip and had it go up and down a few times. Weird, I've always had a harder time getting a yo-yo back up than this. Maybe it's because of the quality? She then threw it onto a nearby building, and was amazed by how long it went. She tugged on it and was immediately launched into the air with a scream.

Marinette skidded to a halt with her heels digging into the ground. She tried to take a few deep breaths but the sudden jolt knocked the wind out of her. Holy crap! Too fast! Not again. She thought as she tried to get her balance back by wobbling on her feet and falling on her butt a few times. Eventually though, the world stopped spinning and she decided to just run for now, and practice later. If she didn't die that is.

Stoneheart wasn't hard to find. He was loud with all his yelling, and the sound of broken machinery and bending metal wasn't necessarily quiet.

Let's see here. When something hits him, he becomes larger. So using force is out. Tikki said the butterfly is usually in an item or something, but I don't see anything. Hmmm-

"Hey! What do you think you're doing?! Get down from there little lady! This area was cleared and evacuated for a reason." Marinette almost jumped when she heard this guy.

"Oh, sorry. I want to try something. If you'd just let me I think I can- "

"No! You shouldn't be here." He stubbornly stated. This, however, got the attention of quite a few of the government officials and they started gathering around. It also got the attention of someone else too.

"You! Give me your Miraculous!" Stoneheart yelled as he stormed through with ease, as a twisted outline of a butterfly disappeared from around his face.

Crap! Marinette thought. He was deceptively fast for his seemingly lumbering stature. She put her plan into action as she led him into a suburban area and called:

"Lucky Charm!"

Marinette looked at it with fascination as it was going to give her what she needed to save the day. The yo-yo swirled around in a mesmerizing fashion before down dropped, a massive pair of pliers?

It went by pretty quickly after that. She used the pair of pliers to take the top off of a fire hydrant and it made Stone heart open both his hands in an instinctual attempt to protect his face. She ripped the piece of paper that fell and out the stone came a familiar face. Ivan.

He sat there dazed for a second before a solemn expression took his face. She looked down at the newly repaired sheet of notebook paper that had, was that the beginnings of song lyrics? She decided she wanted to know what was wrong.

"Hey" Marinette said as she knelt down beside Ivan, "This is a good start to a wonderful song here. May I ask what it's for?"

He looked contemplative for a moment. Then he sighed and explained. "It's for the girl I like at school."

This made Marinette smile. She knew exactly who it was for. "Oh really? That's incredible! I'm sure she'll love it!" she said. She spoke the truth too. The person he was talking about liked him back, funny enough. Everyone knew. Except him apparently.

"Really though?"

Wait. What brought this on?

"Of course she will. What kind of girl wouldn't like a song written for her?" she asked, confused.

"I don't know. I'm afraid I'll scare her off. Kids are scared of me, and some of the kids at school are afraid I'm going to snap and lash out at everyone."

Oh. She knew what this was about now. Either Chloe mocking him for his big stature or Kim poking fun at the fact that he really is a soft guy beneath his rough exterior.

She thought for a minute, before finding what to say. "Well, you don't seem mean to me. I think those kids are trying to get to you. Wouldn't you rather try instead of being afraid of what the others think?"

"I guess so." he said. He seemed a little better now, at least.

"Good. I'll look forward to the day I get to see you around with her holding your hand. Ok? I'm rooting for ya."

He smiled and started walking away with the lyrics in his hand. Marinette grabbed her yo-yo and was about to take off when she felt something was off. Like she was forgetting something. She looked around and saw it.

Oh my gosh i'm glad I caught that. As she grabbed her yo-yo and snatched the black butterfly out of the air. Thankfully it didn't get very far, or she'd have been in trouble. She then picked up the used pair of pliers and threw them up in the air like she'd been told, and shouted the magic words.

"Miraculous Ladybug!"

As the bugs started swirling in the air, something in the corner of her vision caught her eye. She turned around.

"Oh my cheese curdles! This is the best day of my entire life!" a familiar voice shouted in glee as she ran towards the hero.

"Hi, I'm Alya. That was amazing. The pull and the sploosh and the pow and the crack and the whoooooo! What should we call you?" Alya asked at lightning speed with her phone in front of her face.

Marinette thought for a minute, but then decided she didn't need a complex nickname and decided on what people most associated with red and black spots.

"Ladybug. I am Ladybug."

Meanwhile, an elderly citizen wearing a red hawaiian shirt looked up at the ladybugs as they fixed the damage that was done.

Wayzz then popped out of his pocket. "Well, Tikki certainly chose well."

"Indeed. She'll make an excellent ladybug. But, Plagg still hasn't liked any of the potential black cats we've tested."

It was then Plagg decided to insert himself into the conversation. "None of them seemed right, ok?"

"You sure? The young man who helped us with the groceries seemed nice."

"Also the lady who helped master up when he pretended to fall." Wayzz included.

"There was also the officer who gave me directions."

"The boy handing out the balloons to children seemed nice too."

Finally Plagg had enough.

"No! None of them felt right. I know in my gut that I will find my next kitten soon! None of the humans we've met felt right. Ok?"

Wayzz and Fu looked at each other for a moment before nodding at Plagg with a smile. They both knew he was very particular about his kittens, but he would only deny it if mentioned.

"Alright."

AN: 3 am and this chapter is done! I don't like this chapter as much because, well, I have more exciting things planned and I kind of wanted to get Ladybug's introduction to the public over with. Don't worry! Adrien will be here soon. Also, I changed the fight scene to account for the fact that Chat Noir wasn't there, and therefore, can't give Ladybug her confidence. I had her catch the akuma firsthand to give her her own confidence.
