Chapter 2
"Hey Pikachu," the voice said, in a calm, yet excited, tone. "You just gonna stand there and stare Ashy-boy?" Ash recognized that name anywhere. "Gary? Wha-why are you here? Why are you in my room?" Ash asked. His body was shaking, but not enough for it to be noticed. "To see you of course," Gary replied in a calm voice. He moved the yellow mouse off of his lap and onto the bed. He stood and walked towards Ash. "Nice to see you to," Gary smirked. Ash just stared blankly at Gary. "Ash? Is this your room?" Serena questioned on the other side of the door. Ash broke away from his stare and opened the door.
"Professor wants to see us all when were ready," the girl said before turning towards the stairs and descending down them. Ash shut the door and turned to face Gary.
"Are you the reason the professor asked us to come here?" Ash asked the brunette.
"Maybe," he said in a proud way.
Downstairs, everyone was waiting in the dining room for Ash. When Ash walked into the room, everyone was laughing.
"What's so funny?" he asked.
"Gary was telling us about how he used to pick on you!" Bonnie said whilst laughing. Ash ignored them and sat down on the couch with them. The only seat left was beside Gary.
"I asked you kids to come here for two reasons. First reason, I wanted you guys to help me, we've got some new Pokémon coming in, and they're afraid of humans, so I thought you guys would be perfect to help," the Professor said.
"What's the second reason?" Clemont asked.
"I asked him to invite you all," Gary interrupted. "See, I'm doing research on Pokémon behavioural differences here in Kalos," he said proudly." And I thought I'd catch up with Ash whilst I was here." He gave Ash a quick but cheeky glance. Ash could feel his face burning up but shook his head to stop himself from blushing. Not before Serena caught a glimpse though.
At dinner that night, Gary would not shut up about his research, but for some reason Ash didn't mind, he sat there, staring at Gary as he talked non-stop. Of course, he wasn't paying attention to what came out of his mouth, just on its movements.
"What about you Ashy-boy?" Gary questioned teasingly. He knew perfectly well that Ash was paying no attention to what he said. Ash snapped out of his daze.
"What about me?" he asked nervously.
"How are things with you?" Gary asked with an almost unnoticeable smirk.
"Oh you, same old stuff," he chuckled out of embarrassment.
"Does that mean losing the Pokémon league?" Gary remarked. Ash didn't say anything. Instead he stood up and left the room. When he got to his room, he slammed the door shut and faceplanted onto his bed.
"Uh, here I was, thinking he had changed!" he mumbled angrily into a pillow.
Note: Sorry if this story is crap and/or my writing is bad. This is the first fanfic I've ever written, and I don't have any experience writing other than the 5 stories I've done for school projects over the past few years (I've only ever completed one btw).
