Chapter 1- parallel but distant
ANNABETH'S POV
Annabeth could not sleep. She was so excited that her eyelids refused to close. Tomorrow was her first day of school! Before she even knew, the sun had risen. She happily marched around the house and then went to get ready. After getting ready for school she greeted her parents at the counter and dug in to the pancakes that her mother had made for breakfast.
"Geez, Annie eat slowly!" her father exclaimed. She gave him a sheepish smile and focused on her pancakes. "Who's ready for school?" her mother smiled but didn't looked at her.
Annabeth decided not to give in, so she didn't respond and looked at her feet. But within seconds her curiosity got the best of her and she yelled ''me!" .Both her parents laughed. "Honey, will you drop Annie to school today? I have got a witness to talk to "her father asked her mother with that charming smile of his that she could never resist. ''Why Fredrick the last time I checked you already had completed your last car case right?" My father's face suddenly changed and became dense. ''I think that the accident was rigged, Athena." he replied in a tone that scared Annabeth. Her mom suddenly tensed and coughed a little. You see her dad was a high profile criminal detective and her mother was his helping hand and of course a major strategist for the criminal branch herself. Anyways, Annabeth wasn't that dumb, she knew that the cough was meant for her. Her dad got the message and smiled at Annabeth.
"Well, let's get you to school today princess "her father mused and grabbed her bag. Oh this was going to be a good day. But at the other side things were going differently.
PERCY'S POV
Never a morning child. Percy groaned as his mom took his blanket away in an attempt to wake him up. Oh he so dreaded this day. Today was the first day of his school. The day had not even started properly and he already wanted it to end. But he knew that he could not avoid his fate so with much effort he got out of the bed and got ready.
Once he made sure he didn't looked horrible but rather presentable, he went down to find his mom making French toast with blueberries. Percy forgot everything as soon as the aroma of the delicious food entered his senses. He dug in his food as soon as his mother placed it on the counter.
"Come on, Percy! Eat in a more civilized manner, after all you are almost six now and you are a Jackson." His father exclaimed. "Well I think Poseidon that he still is a little kid and can eat like that for a few more years" his mother smiled and said while ruffling his hair a little bit.
"Sally, I can't believe he is already going to school and is six years old, children grow up so fast" his father said wrapping his arms around his mother. "Well I believe that he has to grow more and become just like his father, a respectable and big man." His mother chimed in. Of course he knew, his father was the Poseidon Jackson the CEO of one of the most renowned company The Olympian Industries. He liked what his father did but never understood much about it. But everything has its own perks. For instance, if Percy wanted a certain thing, he just had to tell it to his father and he would purchase it and give it to Percy in a flash. His mother was a psychologist and a well renowned psychiatrist.
"Well let's go to school Percy" his mother mused, pulling him out his never ending thoughts.
As soon as they reached school, Percy saw many kids of the same age as him. He thought that maybe this wasn't going to be that bad, but all his thoughts were shattered when they said he had to go alone. He started crying as his mom told him that only he could go and that his mom was not allowed inside. But his mom ushered him inside saying that he will get to come home later if he actually goes inside. He had to admit that it was a pretty smart trick, but he obeyed his mom and proceeded inside.
At the other end he saw Jason, his best friend standing inside. He was so happy that he ignored everything and started running towards him. What he didn't saw was that he accidentally bumped into a girl and both of them fell on the ground. He looked up to apologize and was greeted with an intimidating pair of grey eyes and blond hair. The girl was small and looked like his age but was menacing and pretty frightening. Her eyes reminded him of storm and he was scared of storms but he didn't cower down but rather let his green eyes seep into her grey ones as they both continued to stare at each other, totally unaware of what their future held for them.
