The impromptu lesson with Master Drallig was exactly what Callera needed to sleep but come morning her unease was back full force. Remembering the various younglings in the Temple, Callera draws her feelings inwards not wanting to make them worry due to her own feelings.
Opening her small room's door she comes face to face with Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan already up and looking very alert.
"What's wrong you two?" Callera's eyes narrowing as she takes in their slightly tense forms.
"Jedi Bladesinger, we believe you." Qui-Gon's words bring her up short. "Your words and the events around us show that the Sith exist at this time and the Council appears to be taking a passive wait and see approach. If Palpatine is the Sith Lord to the apprentice Maul, what can we do to prove that in the here and now?"
Callera ushers them into her room and lets the door close behind them. "I don't know, so much is going on right now," Pacing back and forth in front of the two, "we might not be able to do so directly."
"What about indirectly?" Qui-Gon interrupts her musings, "Steps that are needed in order to arrive at the Clone Wars?"
"Clones!" Her eyes light up. "That's it!" The exclamation startling the two Jedi, "A Jedi Master commissioned the Clone Army, but there were no records of how he paid for it and there was no way the Republic did! Find that and you find the backers, trace the backers to Palpatine/Sidious, and we have our proof."
"Which Jedi Master commissioned the clones?"
"Sifo…" Callera reaches for name
"Sifo-Dyas?"
"Yes! Where is he?"
"On a mission from the High Council, I believe."
"Sithspit!" The vehemence in her voice startling the two. "So much for an easy way out, I don't know where the clones were commissioned from, only that they were. Sifo-Dyas paid for it with unknown money, and that's our first real link."
"Wait here Callera, I will go bring this up with Master Yoda." Qui-Gon hurries off leaving Obi-Wan and Callera alone.
Turning to Obi-Wan, "I'm guessing me talking about it might be a bad idea?"
"Master Dyas is a bit of a polarizing figure, Callera. Add in you bringing him up and I could see the Council rejecting the matter out of hand."
"All because I am warning them that they aren't safe in their Temple and that the Sith still prowl in the shadows?"
"The Jedi haven't faced the Sith directly in hundreds of years, yes the occasional Force wielder who is lost to the Dark side; but a genuine Sith? That will take a lot to believe."
"But not for you and Qui-Gon?"
"I was reluctant to believe at first, but then Tatooine happened, meeting Anakin, catching the end of your fight with Maul; made me consider your words. And while I think you might be withholding some information, you have been sharing everything you feel needs to be shared."
"Some of it has been intentional, there are certain facts I know that I hope will never come to pass. But those are years down the line."
"I also mean the Masters of your Order. You have been sufficiently vague about them."
"Most of them aren't even thoughts in the back of their parents' minds yet Obi-Wan even if the parents exist here."
"I take it then that various Jedi know some of those potential parents and you do not want to influence them one way or another?"
"Correct, while I may hope for those that taught me to come into being, I know my duty to the Force and the light might cause them not to exist."
"And that saddens you."
"I know the light the Jedi of my Order brought to the New Republic, to know they might not come to be…" Callera's words trail off but Obi-Wan feels her sadness wafting through the Force.
*BEEEP* *BEEEP* *Click* Callera turns her commlink on.
"CALLERA!" The energetic yet worried voice of Anakin echoes in the small room.
"Hey, Anakin. I can hear you just fine." Chuckling as she finishes the words to the hyperactive boy.
"The Queen has asked the Senator if his doctor can take a look at me and mom. Mom's been shivering almost non-stop since we got here."
"And you kid, might not have current vaccines."
"WHAT?!"
"You've probably been exposed to who knows what over the years, but getting a once-over from a Doctor here on Courscant is good idea."
"So, I'm going to get poked?" Ah, the whiney disgruntled voice of youth.
"'Fraid so, but that works out perfectly. The High Council is busy right now so it will be a few days before they can interview you. Give your mom support and don't worry about a thing, you'll pass your interview regardless of when it happens."
"Are you going to come over and talk with everyone?"
"I want to Anakin, but they've got me doing research to figure out when my order originated and possible reasons that I just appeared on Naboo. I'll try to be part of the group that picks you up for the interview, but if I can't we'll have food after your meeting with the Council regardless. Sound good?"
"Yup!" Another voice distant on comms "Anakin, it's time to go!"
"Got to run!" The commlink clicks off causing the two Force Users to smile ruefully.
"He is very exuberant." The deadpan from Obi-Wan causes Callera to chuckle.
"Indeed he is Obi-Wan."
They both turn to see Master Qui-Gon, calm with an assured smile as he enters Callera's quarters. "Master Sifo-Dyas just entered hyperspace with one of Vallorum's aides, I've left a request with the High Council to be alerted when they leave hyperspace so we and they can ask him questions."
Callera's feral smirk is the only answer Master and Padawan need. "That's our first way in, but we need more."
"More?"
"I don't know what happens, but Master Dyas is dead before the Clone Wars actually begins and I know there are a few societies that at least dabble in cloning technologies."
"You fear a back-up army?"
"Or special forces filtered into the stock clones that sabotage things on Sidious's orders. As I said the Clone Wars were brutal with a lot of mistakes made on the side of the Republic. I'm sure many of them came just from inexperienced Jedi having to be Generals, but some of the others could have been sabotage."
"Looking for those societies with cloning also gives us another lead if Master Dyas tries to hide his army."
"Correct."
"You think he'd lie to the High Council?" Obi-wan's eyebrows raise.
"He might not be entirely truthful with the Council. He was removed for wanting a Republic military because the Jedi would not be able to meet the threats of a galaxy tearing itself apart." Qui-Gon's answer stuns his Padawan.
"So, depending on how invested he is…" Callera trails off.
"He might try to hide the project so that the Republic still gets its army, even with his disgrace." Qui-Gon fills in. "I will try to convince the Council to let you be the one to talk to him. You have lived through the war he saw coming, maybe you will be able to reach him."
"He's not wrong that a war is coming, but maybe, just maybe we can limit it's scope and save trillions."
