Hey, fairy tail fans, I'm here with an entirely new story; this was originally going to be a one-shot, a simple Natsu X Meredy(an odd ship, I know, but I think it's cute) thing cause I was like, why not. Then it started to evolve. I thought about it more, and then it turned out to be a concept for a four-part story, which I explained in summary
now why Natsu X Meredy, you may ask the cause? Well, I have no idea. I find it cute I also read a story called flickering flames of betrayal(sadly unfinished) that had me liking this paring as out of nowhere it is. The Jerza, that's honestly just a by-product of me writing this so enjoy, which unfortunately takes up this first chapter's entirety, which mostly sets the stage.
Now on to the story
Our story begins unlike most in the fairy hills dormitory as Erza sat on a stool in her room calmly going her hair as she finished placing on her armor as she got ready to leave, opening the door as she walked down the halls 'Natsu should be at the guild by now' she said to herself 'i hope he's already getting ready' as she walked out Evergreen also had started to leave her room when she noticed Erza.
"oh, hey Erza," Evergreen greeted when she stopped and started sniffing near her making Erza back up "are you" she stopped as if she were in shock, "are you wearing perfume."
"why yes," Erza told her almost brashly, "I've been trying new samples," Erza admitted. "I was curious" she gave a nervous smile, which made Evergreen give her a look "does it smell bad," she asked, a hint of fear in her voice as Evergreen frantically shook her head
"Oh no-no," she told her "it smells nice," she said
'oh, that's good then," she gave a smile as she walked away, which had shocked Evergreen even more as "see you at the guild," she told her
"umm sure," Evergreen told her, more confused than everwhat was that about' Evergreen wondered 'Erza seems a lot calmer than usual' she shook her head as she finished locking her room so she could also head to the guild, maybe get to the bottom of what's going on
Erza entered the guild; her mind was racing; it was around that time, but still, a part of her felt bad for dragging Natsu into this. Taking one look, she saw Natsu sitting at the table talking with Lucy. This would make it harder, but still, they managed as she approached; she could hear the tail end of a conversation, which made her heart sink a bit.
"oh, come on, Natsu," Lucy whined, "why not."
"cause me and Erza use to take this job all the time," Natsu told her. Anyone who knew him knew he was lying, but fortunately, Lucy didn't catch it.
"Now," Lucy said
"I mean yeah," Natsu muttered "besides," Natsu muttered, "We like spending time together."
"I know," Lucy told him, "just be careful."
"no promises," Natsu told, giving her his signature grin as Lucy sighed as Erza approached them "oh, hey Erza, ready to go."
"yeah," she smiled at Lucy, "we'll see you when we get back, Lucy," Erza told her as they started to leave.
"Erza," the voice of master Makarov as she looked back at him, he gave her a knowing nod, "be careful."
"yeah, buy," Lucy muttered as Gray approached from behind, waited till they were out of earshot.
"any idea where they are heading of too," Gray asked her.
"No," Lucy told him, "maybe we're just overreacting," Lucy told him as Wendy came over as Happily said bye to Carla and flew off with Natsu "sorry but Happy had nothing," Wendy told them, "the same thing as last time, he and Erza are just doing some jobs so they can spend some time together," Wendy told her "even Carla asking didn't seem to get him to talk," she frowned "it might not be as bad as we think."
"Yeah, maybe your right" it was then Evergreen came into the guild. After looking around, her eyes landed on Lucy and Gray as she made her way over; she did a double check to make sure Erza wasn't about "if you're looking for Erza, she just left," Gray told him,r "you should saw her on the way out."
"well, no, I didn't," she explained. She did, but she was worried she'd end up blurting out something that might offend her, and it would end with Erza kicking her butt, and well, she didn't want that. Taking a seat with Erza's teammates, still confused about what had happened, "but I did see something weird this morning on my way out, Erza was wearing perfume," she told him "nothing off about but the way she was acting," Evergreen told her "she seemed nervous about it" she explained, "and I was wondering if you too might have known anything about it."
"no, I'm afraid not," Lucy told her, "maybe something is going on," Lucy wondered.
"I wonder what it is," Lucy asked herself "she and Natsu have been going on a lot of Mission lately," Lucy explained, "it started around two months ago, and now it seems they go on a job every month."
" I don't know," Evergreen asked, "maybe they're dating," she muttered a getting shocked looks from the other at the table. "I mean the perfume, the sudden urge to go on jobs together, Happy not spilling the beans in a week," Evergreen explained "it's all there," she said, defending her point as the others looked at her in confusion. "I mean, can we blame them? They've always been close," she told them.
"no," Wendy told her, "if that were the case, I would now," she said, getting looks of confusion from the others "it's a dragon slayer thing," she told them, "let's just say to me, it obvious when they're crushing on someone" she explained "it's just something we can pick up on"
"so not secretly dating," Lucy said, stroking her chin "then what could it be" she wondered.
"I don't know," Gray said, "but I think they'll tell us when they're ready."
Natsu and Erza were now in the middle of a forest as Natsu looked to the side "Natsu," Erza muttered, "thank you for not telling anyone about this" Natsu just looked to the side.
"as long as your happy," Natsu told her.
"Aye," Happy said, "even though I still have no idea what's going on" this made the other two laugh as they continued their trip through the woods as Happy flew next to them "also, I'm pretty sure the others are going to suspect something soon" he admitted "they starting to get curious."
"I know," Erza said, "but we can't tell them yet," she told Happy. "I don't want too many people to know about this if the magic council were to find out," she looked away. "I won't be the cause of my guilds destruction if anything, I should be doing this alone," Erza admitted
"if fine, Erza," Natsu told her, "we'll tell them one day" as they came, Natsu started to walk off "you know where to find me," Natsu muttered as he left Erza could hear a tint of disapproval in his voice. Erza didn't blame him. This was out of character for her, but at the same time, she was glad she could at least see her friend, but she was worried if she was taking this too far.
"Erza," a voice called. She turned a smile came on her face as she heard the voice of her eldest friend, former enemy Jellal "it nice to see you" he gave a smile as he approached her removing his hood so she could see each his face "how have you been," he asked "you smell nice.
"I'm fine," she said as they started to walk together, "just a lot on my mind," she told him.
"I see," he mentioned, "if anything, I'm glad to see you."
"me too," Erza admitted, "how's Meredy."
"she's doing better," Jellal told her, "though I feel there's a lot she's not telling me," he sighed. "I just can't get her to talk like Ultear could"
"you'll figure something out," Erza said, trying to comfort him "just give it time."
"if you say so," Jellal muttered. "I just hope it soon," he looked down, "but enough about me, how have you been"
"ever since we won the grand magic games, fairy tail is doing better than before," she said smugly "jobs are coming in; my team and I are also getting pretty popular," she said, to which Jellal rolled his eyes "we even have an interview with Sorcerer weekly coming up as well."
"I thought Natsu hated Sorcerer weekly," Jellal asked.
"he does," Erza admitted, "but Wendy is typically able to convince him to go along."
"I can imagine," Jellal told her. This was all they did for the past month meet up and talk about whatever was going on in their lives; as for the term relationship, they had no idea. Still, they had each other, and they cared for each other, so at the moment, that was enough for them. "I'm glad they have each other," he smiled, "I think she deserves it after everything."
"me too," Erza smiled "they've gotten close" as she looks to the side, a small smile etched on her face as they continued there to stroll, a long string of silence coming over them as
"if you don't mind me asking," Jellal said, breaking the silence, "I know that Natsu comes with when you do these ventures. Where does he run off to," he asked.
"he often goes by a lake," Erza explained, "that or he heads into town and finds a bar" she smiled "once I think he said he ran into Gildarts there," she smiled, "though he's hasn't told me what they talked about," she looked away, "and no, you can't fight him again," she told him almost immediately as much as she admitted she loved Jellal she was not about to let him go about fighting her family especially Natsu it would bring back to many memories of the tower of heaven.
"I wasn't," Jellal stopped as he looked away. "Okay, I did think that, but it was only once," Erza let out a laugh as she and Jellal continued there to walk. "I had fun last time," he admitted, "though it was a different me sure," he smiled, "but still, I don't think I've had a rush like that in years."
Erza could only roll her eyes "still, the answer is no, Jellal," she told him as they stopped their walk; she smiled as she continued to look into the distance as looked at Jellal one more time.
"I just hope I'm not inconveniencing him," she said, "he says he doesn't mind" Erza stopped a part of her wondered how he felt about her and Jellals meetups with everything that happened though she wrote that off h he probably was just worried about her well being
"I'm sure he just wants to help you out, Erza," Jellal reassured her; she smiled.
"I guess," she muttered, "well, I am glad we do get some time to talk amongst ourselves," she admitted. "I don't think I'd like to imagine my life without Natsu," she smiled. "I am truly grateful for his help, "
"and I'm sure he is glad for that," Jellal told her as he brought her in for a hug, "as I am truly grateful that you are here" he smiled in the seven years she was gone; he was glad she was finally to be able to see her again "besides I don't think Natsu one to hold grudges."
"he held one against you," Erza teased, "so I guess me and my guild are the one exception to making him hold," she said as Jellal looked to the side, "so I wouldn't rule out him holding grudges against people," Erza said "though he is one to forgive," she said smiling at him "so you're right about one thing."
"have you heard from Sho and Wally," Jellal asked
"yes," Erza said, "they were glad to learn that I was alive" Jellal smiled "who knows, maybe one day you can make amends with them."
"I don't know about that," Jellal told her "
as they came to a stop knowing that now they would have to go separate ways "it's nice seeing you, Jellal," she smiled "same time next month," she asked
Jellal looked away, a smile coming across his face "maybe we can wait a month," he told her, "I've located another dark guild," he smiled at her, "and we need to finish this off," he told her
"be safe," Erza said
"don't worry," Jellal said as he put his hood on and started to walk away. "I'm going to be fine," he told her. As he walked away, Erza smiled as he walked off Erza walked to find Natsu. Hopefully, this time, he wouldn't be drunk, and they could be back in magnolia before dawn as she walked through the forest. As she looked up, she could see Natsu walking up to her.
"Natsu," she asked, confused as the dragon slayer approached. He was holding Happy in his arms. She could tell he was asleep, but Natsu was what had her confused. His hair was a bit ruffled, and his scarf was a tad bit messed up as if he fought with a monster "are you okay," Erza asked. Big sister mode activated as she rushed to Natsu's side "are you hurt," she asked, "was the monster that hard to deal with."
"oh, it's nothing," he said as he started to fix himself up "nothing I couldn't handle," he told her as Happy turned in his arms.
"Aye," he muttered. "Natsu's the best there is," he said as he turned about in Natsu's arm.
Erza couldn't help but laugh at the pair "alright then," she turned around "let's get home," she told him, "we can take the others on a job if we get there fast enough."
"Yeah, sure sounds good."
"Okay," she said, smiling, "but in that case, we're taking a train, back to magnolia," Erza said, making Natsu fall to the ground.
"come on, Erza," Natsu begged, "please."
"No"
Natsu let out a sigh as he looked away "fine," which made Erza walk back in shock "let's just get it over with, he muttered," he said as he stood up stretch "I'm too out of breath to complain"
"umm, what," Erza asked as Natsu started to leave as. He looks back,
"what Erza," Natsu asked, "you okay."
"Yeah, I'm fine," Erza told him. "I take it you were at the bar," she asked. Natsu looked away nervously.
"Yeah, sure, let's go with that," he muttered out as the pair left, heading back to the guild, "and uh, Erza," Natsu whispered.
"yes, Natsu," she asked.
"love ya, sis," he said, smiling at her as Erza looked at him; a broad smile formed on her face as she walked closer to Natsu.
"you know," she muttered, "I think Lucy and the others will be fine," she told him, "we don't need to take the train."
"Are you sure," Natsu asked.
"yes," Erza told him, "it's been a while," Erza explained while she looked at him "since I've had a chance to have my little brother all to myself," she told him, smiling, "it'll be my treat."
"come on, Erza, you know," he looked at her. A thought ran through his head as he smiled back, "okay fine," he muttered, "you win."
"and Natsu," Erza muttered as the dragon slayer looked at her. "I love you too, Lil bro," she said, a small smile forming on her face as the pair walked into town for the rest of the day
