Disclaimer: I own nothing

Another week passed as Cato tried to figure out how he was going to gain access of Clove's file. He was confident in his ability to get back to her dorm, that wasn't the problem. He was not confident in his ability however, to get in and take the file without Clove killing him first. As the week passed his injuries started to heal and he started to be allowed to train slowly and cautiously. He often stayed late after training because he felt that it made up for him not being able to give 100% during the regular training day. It was during these additional training sessions that he realized that Clove was always at training for a minimum of 3 hours passed their dismissal time as well. It was on Saturday that it hit him, if Clove is always at training late, then her room is unguarded for those 3 hours. Feeling confident in his ability to get the file so long as Clove was not physically in her room at the time, Cato set out making a plan to steal the file after training on Monday.

…..

On Monday, Cato waited impatiently for training to end. When he was sure that no trainers were paying attention, he snuck one of his swords into his training duffel bag. He knew what he was planning on doing tonight could come with all sorts of complications and he wanted to ensure that he was adequately prepared. As soon as the training bell rang dismissing them for the day, Cato made a show of rubbing his injured shoulder as if he had had enough for the day and was making the conscious decision to head out and rest instead of staying for extra training that day. He was hoping that if he seemed like his injury was bothering him, Clove wouldn't be suspicious as to why he wasn't sticking around. Not that she was even paying him any mind. She did not even spare a glance at his show of "weakness", too intent of throwing 6 knives at once, each hitting a different target straight in the chest. Cato packed up slowly, keeping an eye on Clove to make sure she seemed like she intended on staying in the training room for awhile. When he was confident that she would be staying put, he grabbed his things and slowly strode out of the training centre. Once the doors closed behind him and he was confident that Clove could no longer see him, he took off running. He knew he was on a time crunch so he wanted to be as quick as possible. He didn't want to draw suspicion though so he did his best to make sure that he appeared to be getting some cardio training in, rather than rushing off somewhere. Once he arrived at her wing of the building, he slowed to a stop. Last time he was here, he faced some peacekeepers. He didn't know what to expect now that she wasn't physically in the room, especially not in a vulnerable position as she was when she was sleeping. But he wanted to be prepared for anything. So, he slowly started to creep down the hallways, checking around corners before continuing on his way. Surprisingly he met no one on his way. That is until he reached the last hallway, the one in which her room was located. Standing at the entrance to that hallways was a singular peacekeeper. He was likely stationed there to make sure no one snuck into the prodigy's room to surprise her with an attack as she re-enters her room. The peace keeper appeared as though he had been on his post for quite awhile as he seemed to be getting tired. He also didn't appear to be looking for any incoming threats. That was probably due to the fact that no one else in the compound would be stupid enough to mess with Clove, so his job was probably quite uneventful. Cato took the man's lack of focus to his advantage however and sprung from around the corner, trapping the peacekeeper in a headlock and yanking off his helmet. Once his head was exposed and vulnerable, Cato smashed it into the wall effectively knocking the peacekeeper out. Or killing him, Cato wasn't too sure if the man who was quite a bit smaller than him could withstand the force he used. He did not have the time or the patience to check his pulse though and instead hurried down the hall to Clove's room. Unlike last time, he was met with a locked door. He had prepared for this this time and had brought a lock picking kit with him. Pulling it from his bag he got to work. As unskilled as he was, it took him about half an hour before he finally got inside. He knew he had wasted precious time fumbling with the lock so once inside he started searching as quickly as possible, though he tried to make sure he returned everything to exactly how they were so that Clove would not be suspicious that someone had been in her room. He checked the closet, all the shelves, under her bed, in her desk, everywhere he could think of but he came up empty. He was beginning to think that maybe the file just didn't exist, or that Clove had stolen it herself and destroyed it. As he sighed defeated, knowing he hadn't found and was about to be out of time he started walking towards the door. That is, until one of the floorboards under his feet made a weird hollow creak. Confused he stepped on it again, and again. Each time the wood made the same noise, this board was not like the others. Dropping to the floor Cato used his sword to wedge the board out. Sure enough, there was a little hidden compartment beneath her floor. Clove stored many things in said spot, mainly knives, but tucked away in the corner of the compartment were two folders. Cato pulled them out and sure enough he was right, Clove did possess her own file, as well as Jonathan's. Cato quickly shoved them into his bag, replaced the board and locked the door behind him. As he was heading back down the hall the peacekeeper was beginning to stir. Cato was silently glad that he hadn't killed the man. Though his kill list was quite extensive, he didn't feel the peacekeeper deserved to die simply for doing his job. Cato quickly snuck past him and bolted for his room. He half expected to run into Clove leaving training on his way but luck seemed to be on his side today as he met no one on his way. Once back in his room, he locked the door and settled onto his bed, ready to learn everything he needed to know about his biggest competition. Clove Greenleaf.
