Also thank you to Disney-freak-13-2006 for drawing my attention to the fact that something broke in the document when I uploaded it the first time resulting in it being full of coding. I have hopefully fixed the problem but please let me know if any of you are still seeing the coding.

That was the end of the basic information sheet. Cato took a moment to absorb that for a moment before moving on. He had known that she was unmatched in her knife throwing ability, however, he hadn't realized just how much she excelled in all other the other aspects of what they were taught at the academy. She was far more lethal than he had anticipated. He began to wonder what exactly he had gotten himself into with this little dance of hatred he had started with the girl. Turning his attention to the next page he began to read. He quickly realized that this next sheet was her medical records.

Throughout her lifetime Clove has sustained:

8 broken ribs (4 treated, 4 untreated [part of pain tolerance building])

25 broken wrists (2 treated, 23 untreated [part of pain tolerance training])

2 dislocated shoulders. 2 broken shoulders (all untreated for pain tolerance purposes)

8 broken ankles (2 treated, 6 untreated [pain tolerance])

4 concussions (2 treated 2 untreated [persistence through confusion and dizziness])

6 broken fingers (1 treated, 5 untreated [pain tolerance])

1 broken leg (untreated [pain tolerance])

18 stab wounds (4 treated, 14 untreated [pain tolerance and wound healing training])

3 broken noses (1 treated, 2 untreated [pain tolerance])

Getting to the end of that list, Cato slowly closed the file. He needed a moment to really absorb what he had just read. He spent so much time being jealous of Clove for having been chosen as the prodigy. However, if what he just read is correct, being the prodigy had caused her to have 61 injuries on record that were purposefully inflicted on her by the staff as part of her training. So perhaps he didn't want to be the prodigy after all, it sounded like gruesome work. Once he got a handle on how much Clove has suffered, he opened the file back up. He wasn't sure that he wanted to keep reading about all the stuff that had been done to her but he reminded himself that he was doing this so that he could understand what he was up against. He couldn't be the best if this little girl who was 2 years younger than him was such a daunting and unpredictable target above him. He wanted to make her a little less unpredictable.

The next page of the file was her kill list. Unsurprisingly it was quite long. 247 names to be exact. Around 70 of them were prisoners that the district had let her kill to practice her technique and desensitize herself to the idea of killing. By their death dates it appeared that they had been allowing her to kill since she was two years old. This explained to Cato why she was basically a robot and such a cold-hearted bitch. If they had been desensitizing her since before, she could even comprehend her emotions, it was only natural for them to have been suppressed entirely. The other names on the list belonged to various students and trainers that had not survived Clove's wrath. Cato combed through the list several times and was surprised that there was no mention of Jonathan. If Clove hadn't killed him, what happened to him? Cato was met with another surprise as he combed through the list one last time. The names Jaqueline Isadora Prince and Atticus Vince Greenleaf were on the list. About 15 names from the bottom. This could only mean one thing, Clove had killed her parents, and her desensitization training was complete. To say Cato was startled was an understatement. He was 16 and no one had even brought up the idea of finishing his desensitization training, that was reserved for those who were volunteering that year and the trainers felt that they needed the extra push before they volunteered. Clove wasn't going to volunteer for 4 more years so the idea wouldn't have been brought up yet, and he can't imagine having known her, that the trainers would think that she needs the extra push. So why then, were her parents' names on the list? It felt as though with everything that Cato learned about the girl, he just got more confused. This process was supposed to bring him clarity and insights into Clove and the way she works but it was doing the opposite. He just had more questions. He flipped to the last page of the file. This one was labelled relationships. He was confused as to what that could means but as he read on, he realized that it was a list of people that Clove had made genuine connections with. He knew that the district would find any relationships Clove had as threats to the district as they would be distractions, and cause weaknesses that could be exploited in Clove. He was unsurprised then that next to each name their status was deceased. What he did find interesting was that next to that status was a log of by whom they were killed.

Relationships

Alice Rose Glindale: classmate, perky girl that tried to be friends with Clove when they were 5, not fit for the district 2 life style and a distraction to Clove, Deceased, Terminated by Clove as ordered by the administration.

Dalilah Ester Brown: Classmate, befriended Clove when they were 9, Distraction, Deceased, Terminated by Clove as ordered by the administration.

Trevor Ryan Driftwood: Classmate, Friend (potential relationship?), Distraction, Deceased, Terminated by Clove as ordered by the administration.

Kyle Dean Rush: Flirt, Distraction, Deceased, Terminated by Clove as ordered by the administration.

Kimberly Lilla Reed: Friend, Weakness, Deceased, Terminated by Clove as ordered by administration.

Jonathan William Barin: Boyfriend, Distraction, Weakness, Deceased, Terminated by the administration.

It was a very short list which made sense and to be honest, Cato was surprised that Clove had let anyone get close enough to her to be labelled a friend as all. But what surprised Cato the most was that this Jonathan everyone had been speaking about was on the list, that he was dead, and that he was the only person on the list that wasn't killed by Clove. This made Cato curious. Why didn't they order Clove to kill him like they had everyone else? Why was he different?

The only way to find out was to read Jonathan's file, and that is exactly what he was going to do.
