Disclaimer: I don't, and will never, own Young Justice. (Because Birdflash and Hummingbird would have happening :D)
Bart Allen. Impulse. The grandson of the Barry Allen, The Flash. Member of the Young Justice. Cousin (once-removed) to Wally West, Kid Flash. He was happy and content with his life in the past. He finally had his family back; unlike the apocalyptic and depressing future he came from.
Of course, his dad and auntie were babies, and Grandpa Barry and Grandma Iris didn't have any wrinkles and his best friends were all younger, some not even born. But he still had them, at least.
So, he leant against the wall, eating his Chicken Wheezes and looking at his happy family. So crash.
But they were all dead in his time.
Suddenly seeing Grandpa Barry's face wasn't all too pleasing.
A reminder of how he failed.
His Dad's baby fingers reached out to him and his face represented one of worry.
His Dad's face as he rushed Bart out the burning house, suddenly buried in wild flames.
Auntie Dawn tilted her head.
His Mom's body as she fell after horrifically being stabbed in the stomach by her own father as Bart watched on in horror.
His father and Grandpa Barry came to rescue him only 1 hour later, after his Mom's father had fled, Bart having a far away expression and tense body.
Grandpa Barry looked at him and smiled, not noticing Bart's panting and pale face.
Grandpa Barry's body being disintegrated as he was hit with a beam of light, Bart looking on in fear.
Wally sent a smirk his way and Bart tried to smile back, but finding that he couldn't. His eyes became unfocused.
Wally's scream as he was ripped into a million pieces, Grandpa Barry and Bart running beside him, who both looked with tears in their eyes.
Arty's cry as she heard the news, overdosing on drugs only a couple of months later, Bart's only friend left, gone.
Auntie Dawn's face of depression as she heard her brothers and dad's death, sending her over the edge. She was sent to an asylum only two months later.
Grandma Iris looked his way, with a warm smile, no one noticing his quick breaths and pounding heart beats.
Grandma Iris's broken demeanour as her family all were gone, except Bart. She died of heart break.
Dick and Tim, his only comfort and family, got a dagger to their hearts by Deathstroke, Nightwing's most dangerous, and final, villain. Bart also had watched that, after he was kidnapped along with Dick and Tim, when they had died.
His Team's screams as they were also murdered, one by one. Even when running, he heard them and each one had broken his heart. He had travelled to 2016, to be met with confused and weird glances at him, by his family, his alive family.
His body shivered and he went pale, silent tears streaming down his face.
"Hey Bart- Bart?"
Grandpa Barry's smile turned into a frown.
Grandpa Barry's broken frown after hearing his son had died, Bart's own father
Bart was shaking violently at this point. He felt a hand on his shoulder and flinched away
Deathstrokes hands all over him, cackling evilly, as Bart watched Tim and Dick die
"I'm- I'm fine" Bart shivered.
He didn't think he could pale anymore but when he saw Wally's concerned face, his breaths started to quick.
Batman's concerned and upset face, as he saw Bart roped to a pole, with broken eyes. Bart shivered and flinched away at touch.
"Where are Nightwing and Robin?" he had asked.
Bart shakily pointed at the corner. The bodies, drained of life, blood stained and Bart could see it all.
Bruce saw the bodies on the ground and saw the bloodied bodies of his sons. He covered his face with hands, and that was the only time Bart saw Batman show emotions.
"He-he kidnapped us, th-then he murdered th-them right in- in front me"
"A dag-dagger to their hearts. Th-then he started… touching me"
Bruce looked at Bart with sympathy. He knew what touching meant. Bart burst into tears.
"I-I'm so sorry" Bart pleaded
"It's okay Bart, it's okay" Bruce comforted.
Weeks later, Bruce Wayne and Batman went missing, never to be seen again.
Bart slid against the wall, his face wet with tears, his body shaking and his breath quickened.
Wally put his hand on Bart's knee, trying to comfort him and saying words Bart couldn't make out.
"No please! Stop... I'll cooperate next time. I'm sorry! Please Deathstroke!" Bart seemed to plead with someone.
Bart looked at Grandpa's Barry's blurred face, who's mouth was moving with blurred words.
"Grandpa Barry! No, not again! Don't leave me!" Bart cried, which earned a cry from Don.
"Dad! No, I'm not leaving you! Mom's already gone; you can't be gone too." Bart shouted. Grandma Iris looked at Don for a second, before glancing back at Bart, crouching down.
"Grandma Iris… I love you" Bart's eyes looked unfocussed.
"What?" Iris was concerned at Bart's sudden soft speaking, as tears still flowed softly from his eyes.
Iris's concerned face as Bart came home crying, exhausted from running from the bullies. They had broken his wrist, and said nasty stuff about him and his now dead family, rubbing their perfect lives in his face.
Wally had a desperate look, words flowing from his lips, trying to calm Bart down from his panting and tears.
Bart's distressed and desperate face as Tim and Dick were dragged by Deathstroke and pushed to their knees.
"No!" Bart had yelled, only to be met by Deathstroke's evil smirk.
Tim and Bart made eye contact, and Bart realised Tim knew what was going to happen.
A sad smile graced Tim's face as Bart struggled against the restraints.
Tim motioned for Bart to relax and Bart let out a whimper as he heard a scream. Tim looked away from his side, knowing his brother had been murdered, and that he was next. They both had tears rolling down their face.
Bart looked at Tim in distress as he saw Deathstroke approaching Tim. Tim just looked at Bart and smiled sadly.
"I love you" Tim had said and before Bart could even say it back, a dagger came through Tim's heart.
Bart screamed, cried and struggled against the pole he had been attached to for 72 hours. His dirty hair banged against the pole repeatedly. He had failed.
He only saw Deathstroke approach for one second before Deathstroke smiled, as if he was pleased.
"Let's have some fun Barty"
Bart cried out and let out a whimper. Repeatedly calling out, Tim!
Wally looked at that. Why was Bart screaming Dick's brothers name?
"Tim no! Please not you! Not again!" Bart yelled and seemed to struggle against something.
And when coming back to 2016, after seeing Tim's face, his heart had stopped.
He tried to say something but no words came out. Grandpa Barry had smiled and said:
"Finally stopped talking?"
Bart had wanted to burst into tears right there and then. They didn't know anything. Nothing about him. Noting about the future. Nothing about what he had been through.
Tim had looked at him with confusion. Probably thinking he was weird at staring at him.
"-Oh h-hi I'm B-Bart" Bart had said, forcing a smile.
"Robin" Tim had informed.
"Bart?" Iris said, putting her gentle hand on Bart's cheek. Bart crys halted for a second before returning, this time softer and more heartbreaking.
"Why does this have to happen to me Grandma?" Bart said, sniffling.
Bart put his head on his knees. Wally slid and sat down next to him. Wally flung an arm over him, making Bart flinch a little before relaxing into it.
"Their deaths hurt" Bart sniffled.
Grandpa Barry nodded, not knowing who Bart was talking about, but he could relate too. Death was all too common in the Superhero business.
"It's all in a heroes work" Grandpa Barry said, which made Bart's head shoot up, his eyes red, puffy and wet. There were knew tears threatening to fall down.
"That's what you said before you died" Bart put his head down. Barry was shocked, but he needed to be strong for Bart.
"I was just getting over Mom, Dad's and Wally's death too" Bart cried. Everyone stilled at that. Don, his future wife and Wally were dead in the future?
"H-How?" Grandpa Barry asked hesitantly. He obviously didn't want to push him.
"They didn't even die together! Mom was stabbed by her own father and Dad died from too much smoke inhale from the house fire" Bart cried.
"Then Wally died, right next to us. We were trying to save the world by running, then he was ripped into a million pieces, right into ashes" Bart started crying again.
"Then it was Artemis. Then it was Grandpa. Then it was Auntie Dawn. Then it was Grandma. Then it was Dick and T-Tim" he shuddered, "and then Bruce. And the whole Team"
Barry looked at Bart in shock and concern.
All of their deaths were his fault
Bart started shaking and Grandma Iris put a hand on his shoulder, on the other side
"-And some ot-other things happened too"
A soothing hand rubbed up and down on Bart's back.
"You're here now Bart. Nothing is going to happen, I promise" Wally soothed.
You don't know that Bart wanted to say but he felt himself nod.
"I'm so sorry. That was so stupid" Bart realised.
He just had a panic attack, in front of his family! Stupid Bart, stupid.
"…Bart" Grandma Iris breathed out.
Grandpa Barry stood in silence, as if to process everything that Bart had said.
It was 5 seconds later when Bart's phone rang. And flashing across the screen was:
Tim Drake.
