JJ

Despite August barely passing into September, there was a certain chill to the air that came with the wind. As it brushed past JJ, it sent a slight chill down her spine as she walked to the field for practice after school. The day had passed rather quickly after lunch, as if JJ almost had something to look forward to. There was a newfound bounce in her step as her athletic shorts and jersey rippled in the air somewhat violently. Once reaching the middle of the field, JJ had a compulsion to immediately warm up with a stray soccer ball.

Soccer was what she looked forward to when it came to school. Even though JJ excelled greatly in her academics, sports and athletics is where she truly shined. She quickly checked her watch and sighed, predicting that her friends wouldn't arrive for at least another 5 minutes.

The ball bounced back and forth between her feet as she eyed the goal across the field from where she stood on the midfield line. She took the shot and then scowled as it narrowly missed, instead bouncing off the goal post and rolling towards the bleachers. She lazily jogged towards the ball as it rolled to a stop, but her jogging slowed as she heard voices.

"..glad to hear you changed your mind." JJ could practically taste the smugness that coated the speech. She could easily identify the voice to be Ian Doyle's. However when she peered through the narrow gaps in the metal stands, she didn't expect to see Emily Prentiss coyly eyeing the football player.

"Of course. I just didn't want those losers knowing my business." Emily laughed slightly before putting her hair up and checking her watch. "Shit, I gotta go. Practice starts in a couple minutes. I'll see you later." She knelt down to lace her cleats and JJ grabbed her ball and quickly made her way back to her things, where her friends now waited for her. The more she recovered from the shock of what she just witnessed, the more of a rage she felt within her.

This random girl who had been here for less than a day had befriended Spencer only to call him a loser? And discounting that entire group who had welcomed her for a prick like Ian Doyle. Not to mention that JJ had even invited her to her house. She knew something had been off about this girl from the beginning but she was too angry to gloat, or even remember that Emily was now blowing off her and Spencer for two men, one of which was her boyfriend who would almost certainly be cheating on her with this girl later today. This was the final straw and would seal a vendetta against Emily Prentiss.

"What's with the face, Jennifer?" Her friends called out once she was in earshot. Her sour look turned to a grin while tightening her ponytail as she reached them.

"I think I've decided who it'll be this season." It was tradition for the captain to choose a team member that the rest of the girls subtly victimize and single out. In fact, it had been JJ during her freshman year.

"Oh my God, please tell me it's Alex. She always feels a little too cocky." Her friend Ashley rolled her eyes as JJ simply shook her head.

"No, even better. She's new this year." JJ smirked as she picked up her clipboard and flipped to the page that displayed the portrait of Emily Prentiss, turning the clipboard to face the two girls.

"She better be bad at soccer, that'll make it even funnier." Her other friend Elle laughed while JJ grabbed the stack of cones to set up, seeing Emily on her way over with the rest of the girls. Somehow, JJ was even more excited for practice than before.

JJ watched the team intently as they completed two laps around the field as the coach talked with her about leader expectations. They all quickly returned to the center of the field, and almost immediately, JJ shouted out,

"Emily, another two laps." She ordered. Confusion plagued the brunette's face and maybe even a hint of betrayal.

"What? Why?" She asked.

"It didn't look like you were trying as hard as the rest of the team. You need to put in effort to be on varsity." Smiles were quietly shared among the team as they realized that the new girl was becoming the target for the season, all also secretly relieved that it wasn't them.

"I put in plenty of effort." Emily debated, only to receive an even colder stare from JJ.

"Don't argue. Go get it done." JJ commanded. The brunette simply huffed and turned to run the track all over again.

JJ made the first practice practically a living hell for Emily. JJ ordered her to gather scattered soccer balls and criticized her for every shot she missed and every slight deviation in a drill. Somehow, it was still unsatisfying for her. Emily simply bit her tongue and did as she was told. It was now the end of practice, and JJ was slightly surprised that the new girl hadn't faltered once. It frustrated the blonde, as she was unsure how much antagonistic she could become without outwardly being seen as a bully. She just wanted this day to be over.

JJ jogged to the bleachers to wave Spencer down from where he perched, waiting for practice to end. He quickly perked up and made his way down, the metal steps clanging below him as he did so.

"Hey JJ, how'd practice go?" He asked, tucking his book into his bag.

"It was good, for a first one anyway." She replied as the two began walking to her car. Her cousin simply nodded, before changing the subject.

"Oh right, I was going to let you know that Emily won't be joining us anymore. She said her mom needs her home." Upon hearing that, JJ's teeth clenched. Spencer was oblivious to Emily's manipulation, and she was having none of it.

"Spence, she's not as good of a person as you think she is. Not to mention you barely know her." She argued, only causing his brow to furrow as he opened the passenger side door.

"I'm sorry JJ, but I don't follow. I think she has both your and my best interests at heart, which means she is as good of a person as I think she is. I don't need to know her for a long time to be able to see her values." He retorted, staring out of the windshield as JJ pulled out of the parking space.

"How would she have my best interests at heart? I've barely said two words to her." She scoffed.

"I know more than I let on." Spencer responded simply, promptly ending the conversation before it could progress any further.

Emily

Emily sat next to Spencer in AP Statistics next to Spencer, becoming more and more agitated by the constant harassment of Ian Doyle to her left. She was looking forward to her first varsity soccer practice at the end of the day, one place she knew were he wouldn't be. The incessant comments from Ian had become a chore to ignore, and angered Emily so much that even Reid picked up on her unpleasant mood.

"Why won't he leave you alone?" He asked her quietly, and she heavily sighed, the mere topic causing her grief.

"He keeps trying to get me to come to his house after school. As if I'd want anything to do with someone as gross as him." She replied, rolling her eyes subconsciously. She slid him the address that Ian had given her two periods before towards Spencer and he did a double take as he read it.

"Wait a minute…this is Will's house. Like Will as in JJ's boyfriend." He slowly clenched his jaw as he understood what was happening.

"He didn't mention anything about Will, and why the hell would I want to be alone with two guys?" Emily pursed her lips as she came to the same conclusion. "Oh my god…what pieces of shit."

"I didn't think Will would cheat on JJ again. Especially after how upset she was the last time it happened. She can't find out about this, Emily." Spencer worried, recalling his cousin's previous summer slump.

"Actually, I might have an idea that'll get him to leave me, and maybe even other girls alone for good. What do you say?" Emily offered. Pain was a weird thing to see Spencer express, and it wasn't something she enjoyed seeing.

"Whatever will make this stop. JJ doesn't deserve this, but she still stays with him. I just wish he wouldn't be disloyal." He expressed. Emily simply nodded, empathizing with his internal conflict. It was obvious he didn't like to hurt or upset anyone, especially people like Will and Ian, but when it came to JJ, enough was enough. She then explained what she was to do, and the bitterness that previously afflicted Reid became delight. He now couldn't wait until tomorrow when he was to hear all about it.

Emily's legs ached slightly as she trudged herself up a hill on her way home from her God awful soccer practice. She was upset that JJ has singled her out for no apparent reason, but she wasn't one to complain. She was on varsity and was already expecting to work harder than she was used to. She thought back to her conversation before practice with Ian Doyle under the bleachers, and her mind immediately began ignoring the pain as she was almost too excited to carry out her "prank" to put it lightly.

It disgusted her to do so, but Emily convinced Ian that she was suddenly interested in both him and coming over to his house after school. She had learned plenty in Europe, and she flirted enough just to get him excited. She bit her lip, raised the pitch of her voice, and acted incapable of thinking for herself. Now she had an appointment at his, or rather Will's house after school that she was excited to miss.

Finally reaching home, she quickly showered, changed, and made herself dinner. She was expected at the LaMontagne residence at 5:30 and it was only 4:30. She threw herself onto her bed lazily before confirming all the elements that she needed for this to work. She opened her text conversation with Ian.

Hey, cutie. You're still coming over?

Totally. 5:30, right?

Whatever works for you ;) By the way, the back door is open. My room is upstairs and easy to find, you can let yourself in.

Ok, cool. I'll see you then. :)

Emily shuddered to herself. Even if she had received no guidance from Reid, Ian would've made her so uncomfortable, despite him being nice to her. Sure he was attractive, but regardless she would never have wanted anything to do with him. Now that she took care of that, she had to ensure the other half of her plan was still going to work out. She opened the app Grindr, a dating app for gay men.

She scrolled through the few chats she had open under her fake profile with Ian's pictures, before reaching the one she had been chatting with since she came up with he scheme in stats class.

Hey, are you looking to hook up tonight?

Yeah, I'm down, can you host? He replied, and she smiled to herself. This was working out too perfectly.

Yep. 5:30. And just so you know, the back door will be open. My room's upstairs, it's easy to find.

Cool. See you then :)

Emily sent the address of Will's house and then laid in wait. If this didn't teach them, she didn't know what would. Once 5:30 rolled around and she confirmed final plans, she deleted her account and blocked Ian, and was more than confident that he would not invite her over again.
