In a world where humans co-exist with a man-made half-human half-animal species, Tom Wachowski has never seen any appeal in having one as a pet. Maddie has tried and failed to convince him, but nothing was going to change his mind.

However, one night Tom gets a call from an elderly couple saying that they've found an injured blue hedgehog hybrid. Could this change Tom's mind?

This is my first Sonic fanfic, so enjoy!

Chapter 2

He had no idea what had happened. One minute he had been running for his life, and the next he had been laying on the cold road, too sore to move. But that only lasted a few, horrifying seconds before everything went dark. It felt as if an eclipse had been cast over his soul, causing a few moments of unconsciousness.

It felt as if only a second had passed before he felt himself wake up. His eye lids felt like stone, too heavy to lift. He almost slipped back into unconsciousness but something was stopping him. He couldn't tell what it was though. A sudden deep and uneasy feeling wormed it's way into his chest, triggering his eyes to shoot open almost instantly. His vision was blurry, but it soon cleared enough for him to look around.

But everything was... weird. It was so colourful compared to what he was use to. Where was he? Why was he here? It didn't feel right. He needed to get away from here... far away. But when the hybrid tried to sit, a shooting pain went through his leg, almost blinding him. He let out a small hiss of pain-then he felt a pair of eyes staring at him.

Stiffening, he turned his head, and saw a human staring at him through some sort of barrier. The human held something in his hand, but it was unidentifiable to the hybrid. He didn't know what to do first-run or scream? But he didn't do either. He just froze in place, like a sculpture.

...

Tom blinked at the hybrid he faced, who seemingly had frozen. It most likely came from fear. Most animals had that reflex when they felt threatened.

He'd put the hybrid in Ozzy's dog cage, since he didn't have anywhere else to put the hybrid. Now that Tom thought about it, he had just been calling him 'the hybrid' and he felt the need to give him a proper name.

"Hello there" he whispered in his softest tone, as to not scare the hybrid. "Do you have a name?" There was no reply. "Do you belong to someone?" Still, no answer. With a sigh, Tom put the spatula he was holding down (listen, he knows nothing about hybrid's alright? Give him a break) and looked away for a second, then looked back at the hybrid. "You know what? I'm going to call you Blue for now, because of your-" he gestured to Blue "-blue fur and stuff". This made Blue's ear twitch a little bit, and his expression relaxed in the tiniest bit. But as soon as Tom reached out to open the dog cage to let Blue out, he shuffled back a little bit and looked down with a whimper..

Tom sighed again and sat back down, burying his face in his hands. "Guess I'll have to wait until Maddie gets home... she's better at this stuff then me"
