A/N: As you can probably tell, there's a new spell. Two new spells. I won't spoil those spells for you, though.

Chapter 10
The Power of the Xerii
Carissa
Carissa knew that Lyna would just argue about spells and learning.
"Secret!" she heard the Princess of Borealis say.
"What secret?" demanded Izira.
"We don't know what she's doing," replied Pit. "She just left."
"The twins!" yelled Iris.
"Now, now, let's head to bed, and Carissa should be with us in a few minutes," said Palutena. "If not, maybe the twins did capture her."
"Hopefully they didn't," replied Auriana.
Carissa heard footsteps to the rooms.
Amaru was with her.
"Good," she said, picking up a book. "All right! What new spell would be good? Aha! Crystal Xerii, meant to harness the power of the Xerii! This is perfect timing."
Amaru nodded.
"All right!" said Carissa. "I'll try to harness it. Okay, so don't lose concentration, and keep the power focused on you!"
Amaru gave a thumbs up.
Carissa closed her eyes. She imagined Talia saying, "Well done, Carissa. You've proven yourself to harness the power of the Xerii." She imagined protecting Lyna, using the harnessed power of the Xerii. She imagined Praxina and Mephisto using Troncolus, only to have it reflected by the harnessed power. Then, she said, "Crystal Xerii!"
She opened her eyes. She concentrated on the invisible orbs of energy.
They flowed towards her, but some crash happened, a person yelled, "Carissa, what are you doing!", and she lost concentration. The invisible orbs that were not invisible to her floated away. Even Amaru was too slow for them.
Carissa shoved the book back in place.
Praxina came in, followed by Mephisto. "Trying to learn magic, huh?"
"How do you know?" asked Carissa.
Talia and the others burst into the room. "Carissa, what happened?"
"I-" Carissa was cut off by Praxina.
"A little magic if you ask me. What were you thinking, Carissa?"
Lyna stepped forward. "Carissa's just trying to help us all by learning a new spell!"
Izira and the others nodded.
"Thanks!" said Carissa.
"No problem!" said Lyna.
"The problem is, I feel some kind of strange energy. Did the spell you were trying to use backfire?" said Palutena.
"It had to have been a concentration spell!" said Talia. "The twins ruined everything by disrupting Carissa like that!"
Izira looked thoughtful. "It could have been that new Crystal Xerii spell I put in a few days ago."
"To harness the power of the Xerii," said Talia. "Because the twins caused Carissa to lose concentration, Palutena ended up with the power instead!"
"I get it!" Viridi exclaimed.
The twins glared. "We'll just leave!" snapped Praxina.
They vanished.
"Sheesh!" said Talia. "Carissa, I'd suggest you have somebody with you before doing the spell. I learned a new spell that should work…."
"Go for it," said Carissa.
Talia held her magic circle down on the ground. "Crystal Purificatious!" she yelled.
Carissa felt like a million worries had been swept off her, and noticed Palutena giving a sigh of relief.
"That was a relief!" said Lyna.
They all grinned, as Talia stood up.
"Not bad, you!" she said.
They laughed, and sat down to chat, until the sun rose in the morning.
