pika318: This takes place in the same universe as Chapter 2: The Fallen Angel is a Hostess

One shot: Reunion

It was early in the morning when Maou got the message on his phone.

"The person you have been searching for is at Saikai University Medical College Affiliated Hospital Tokyo Branch Ward 426."

Maou frowned and looked at the sender of the message again. It was Shiba Miki, the landlady of Villa Rosa.

Immediately a few questions came to mind, how did the landlady know that he was looking for someone? And where did she get the information from? Could it even be trusted? Was she even referring to the same person he was thinking of? Hospital? Was she hurt? How?

For sorting through his thoughts for a while, he finally gathered up the courage to type a reply, "How did you know about this?"

Almost immediately, a response came, "A relative told me."

How vague.

Then another message came, "Her injuries aren't serious."

Ah, that was good to know.

Maou stared at the screen for a while longer, waiting for more messages, but none came.

"Demon King-sama? What's wrong?" Ashiya asked, after noticing that Maou was staring at his phone screen for a long time.

"Landlady-san messaged me." Maou replied, half distracted due to all the thoughts which were still in his head.

"What?! Landlady-san did? Is there a problem?" Instantly, worry appeared on Ashiya's face.

"No, ahh… I'm not sure whether to call it good news or bad news… but if this is what I am thinking, Lucifer is in hospital now." Maou answered with a frown.

"Hospital?! And how did Landlady-san know about this?" Ashiya asked in surprise.

"She said a relative told her. Haah, there is even a ward number here. Since it's a rest day today, there is no harm in checking it out. I doubt Landlady-san will lie to us." Maou concluded, then got up to wash his face and get ready for the day.

Two hours later

Maou stood outside Ward 426 of Saikai University Medical College Affiliated Hospital Tokyo Branch, staring at the nameplate on the door. Surprisingly, it was a single person ward, so only one name was displayed there

"Urushihara Tomoyo…...huh. Well, obviously she won't use the name Lucifer in Japan. If this is really her, that is." Maou mumbled to himself.

Taking a deep breath to mentally prepare himself. Maou knocked on the door softly and then slid the door open.

But as the door slid open, he was faced with not one, but five pairs of eyes.

Maou's first instinct was that he got the wrong room.

"Sorry, I…." Then as his gaze roamed around frantically, it finally landed on the person in the bed.

She had not changed at all. It was the same face, same purple eyes, and even if her hair was longer now, it was the same purple hair too. He saw her frown slightly, and a second later, something in her gaze changed.

Does she…

However, Maou did not have the chance to finish his thought before one of the men in the room spoke.

"May I know who you are?"

"Ah, right. M, my name is Maou Sadao. I heard that, erhm, Tomoyo is in the hospital, so I came to visit."

All the visitors in the room frowned as they noticed that not only did Maou not use Urushihara's last name, he even dropped all honorifics.

Then one of the woman stepped forward slightly, showed a smile and spoke.

"Nice to meet you, Maou-san. My name is Yamamoto Sumire. May I know how you are related to Urushihara-san?"

"Oh, that is… I'm her cousin."

Maou thought that claiming that he was a relative would give him more legit reason in getting informed to come here, but unexpectedly, he felt the atmosphere in the room freeze.

Looking at the group in front of him, he noticed that the expressions on the two women's faces have dimmed, and the two men looked downright hostile.

A nervous expression appeared in Maou's face, and just as one of the men took a step forward…

"Saito-san, he's not one of those relatives. Calm down. The rest of you as well." Urushihara Tomoyo finally spoke calmly from where she was sitting up slightly on her hospital bed.

Everyone in the room turned to Urushihara and she smiled slightly in an attempt to reassure them.

"Nakamura-san, Saito-san, Yamamoto-san, Takahashi-san, perhaps you can visit Kazuma-san instead? I want to speak to him alone." She added on.

"Are you sure?" The other female, 'Takahashi-san', asked, the worry evident on her face.

"I'll be fine. Trust me on this?" Urushihara asked, with an almost pleading look on her face.

"...Alright." The one who answered was the man who spoke to Maou first 'Nakamura-san'. After all, no one could really resist Urushihara when she gave them that look. If she said this stranger could be trusted, then so be it.

"30 minutes, then we'll be back." Saito said.

"Alright." Urushihara replied.

With her agreement, the four of them started to move towards the door.

Maou, suddenly aware that he was still standing in front of the door, quickly stepped to the side to let them pass.

Nakamura was the first one to walk past him. The man glanced at Maou when he walked past but said nothing.

Then Yamamoto and Takahashi. Yamamoto bowed slightly in his direction, which caused Maou to scramble to bow in return. Takahashi only glanced at him curiously, but it was obvious that she was still worried.

Lastly was Saito. Unlike what Urushihara asked him to do, he did not look like he had calmed down at all, glaring openly at Maou, then as the man walked past Maou, Maou could clearly hear him say in a low voice that only he could hear despite the quiet room.

"If you dare hurt Urushihara-san, I'll make sure you regret it."

Maou gulped nervously, but before he could reply, the man had walked past him. A few seconds later, the hospital door slid close, leaving only him and Urushihara in the room.

A few seconds passed, then Maou heard Urushihara say,

"Why don't you take a seat….Satan."

Looking at the young man in front of her as he sat with his back totally straight on the chair, Lucifer could not help but sigh.

"Haah… you're still as clumsy as ever."

"I, I was just surprised, okay? And how did you even know it was me? Wait, before that, how did you even end up in hospital?" The young man known as Maou Sadao, or Satan Jacob, asked his questions one after another.

"I guess i can't blame you for saying you're my cousin without knowing how the rest of them would react. Just remember this, the person who picked me up and gave me a job and a place to live told the others that I ran away from home because I have abusive relatives. Since you said you are my cousin, they thought you were related to those relatives. Since I told them you are not, that is settled, but this is the story which was told to them, so do not blow my cover."

"Ah, okay."

"Then how about you?"

"Huh?"

"What's your cover story for staying in Japan?"

Maou frowned a bit, then he answered, "I'll tell you that later, but you should answer the rest of my questions."

"Tch." Lucifer clicked her tongue when Maou saw through the fact that she was trying to change the topic.

"Fine, I knew it was you because you're still harbouring some demonic magic in your body. I recognised the signature of your demonic magic."

"...And the last question?"

"I was stabbed."

"Where?!" Maou practically shouted as he stood up from his chair. When he heard that she had injuries, he never expected a stabbing.

"Quiet down, idiot." Lucifer frowned at Maou's loud volume and gestured to her side. "It wasn't even that deep."

"What happened?" As Maou sat down again, he asked this.

"There was a rival shop which didn't like the fact that we were earning more than them, so they hired some thugs to attack me and my assistant, which would be Kazuma, the one i mentioned just now. We were outnumbered and Kazuma got badly hurt, but the others came soon enough and chased the attackers away. It was just that in the process, one of them tried to attack Saito with a knife and I got in the way."

Suddenly, Maou could understand why Saito seemed so angry all the time when they met just now.

"I did turn slightly, so it didn't go in all that deep. Besides, if I could survive the injury Hero Emilia gave me, this is nothing." Lucifer continued, brushing it off.

Of course, there was the matter where she could not use demonic magic because it was sealed off, but Maou did not have to know that.

"I see." Maou stared at Lucifer a while longer, and it did seem that the fallen angel did look healthy enough, so it should not be a serious issue.

He did wonder what she worked as though, what could be so dangerous that a rival shop would just hire a group of thugs out of jealousy?

But before he could open his mouth and ask, Lucifer spoke first,

"So? What have you been doing in Japan in the past year?" Lucifer suddenly asked Maou, abruptly changing the topic.

Since she asked, Maou started to tell her about it, how he and Ashiya ended up in Japan, meeting Shiba Miki, getting an apartment, applying to different jobs, and finally how he ended up working at MgRonalds part time while Ashiya essentially looked after the house. He also told her about the incident with Olba, Suzu and Sariel.

Lucifer had looked amused at how Alsiel, the serious and sarcastic Demon General had become a househusband, but then became serious when she heard about the incident which took place on the roof of Tokyo Metropolitan Building.

"You said Olba Meyers was arrested after?" She asked after Maou was done with his story.

"Yeah, for possession of a gun."

"I see."

"You came to Japan with Olba, right? He mentioned it."

"I did. But I ran away when I could. There was no way I was going to work with him in killing you. My boss then found me afterwards. Olba always thought I was willing to work with him until we reached Japan though, so it's not like he mistreated me or anything."

"If he dared to do that, I would have punched him harder." Maou commented, looking deadly serious.

Lucifer could not help but chuckle, "As if you could go back in time to do that."

"I would definitely try." Maou said with a small smile.

"Sure, try your best then." Lucifer said with an amused expression. Then looking at the clock, she commented, "It's almost 30 minutes, they'll be back soon. You should go before Saito comes back to glare at you again."

Maou also turned to the clock. It was true that almost 30 minutes have passed. Time really passed too fast.

Seeing his reluctance to leave, Lucifer turned to the side table and picking up a small bag, she searched inside and pulled out a purple flip phone.

"What's your phone number and email address?" She asked.

"Ah, right." Maou responded and told her, then she saved it accordingly. Then dialing Maou's number, she waited for him to take out his phone as it vibrated before cutting off the call, saying "That's my phone number. Use that to keep in touch."

Seeing the unknown number on his phone, Maou quickly saved it under 'Urushihara Tomoyo".

"I'll see you around then. And tell Alsiel I said hello." Lucifer said.

Just then, the door slid open, revealing the four people again. Taking it as his cue to leave, Maou got up from his seat and waved in goodbye. She returned the wave and he turned around to leave, bowing at the group at the door, then walking past them and leaving.

After he left the hospital and walked towards the bus stop to head home, he took out his phone and glanced at his newly added contact, "Urushihara Tomoyo"

"Now that I think about it, Urushihara does kind of sound like Lucifer huh…" mumbling this to himself with a smile on his face, Maou headed back home.
