A/N: Just my take on this idea. Warning: brief mentions of guns and blood. I own nothing.

Helen walked quickly down the street, wishing she could extend her legs to go faster but knowing not too. Bob was going to be at her apartment soon—he was probably already there. She had just been taking a walk and lost track of time.

Although knowing her boyfriend, there was a good chance he had too.

She was a block away from her building when she heard the sound of sirens and gunshots. She whipped around to see two cars race past, a police car and the car it was chasing. She ducked into an alley.

In literal seconds, she was suited up. Making sure her mask was securely on her face, Elastigirl vaulted herself up to the rooftops and joined the chase.

They're bound to cause an accident soon, she thought even as she gained on them. She had to stop this.

She was just over the cars when she looked down and saw someone else in a blue suit standing down the road.

She scowled. Mr. Incredible would probably try to stop this by picking up the car and throwing it at a building.

He was in a football stance, as if ready for the car to crash into him.

And crash into him it did. He grabbed the bumper and seemed about to lift the car into the air when the windshield shattered and Mr. Incredible cried out and let go of the car. Within seconds, he was tossed into the air and the car was speeding off again.

Elastigirl squinted at the scene until she realized what had happened. One of the criminals had shot at Mr. Incredible through the windshield. Elastigirl breathed a sigh of relief when she saw the bullet had just grazed his jaw. It left a sizable gash, but nothing too serious.

She realized this while swinging down over the criminals from behind. This time, she was going to capture them her way.

Soon, the police were there, underneath the car hanging from Elastigirl's hand.

As they got the criminals into custody, Elastigirl turned to see Mr. Incredible watching the scene with a sheepish expression on his face. She crossed over to him.

"I suppose you're here to gloat," he said, obviously miffed.

"No, actually," Elastigirl said. "I wanted to see if you were alright."

While the guy could be extremely annoying, he was strangely charming. Almost like someone else she knew…

He stared at her for another second, then laughed, wiping a few drops of blood off his chin. "Yeah, I'm fine," he said. "Gonna take a lot more than that to take me down."

She nodded, still examining the wound. "Doesn't look too bad. You probably won't need stitches."

He shuddered. "Thank god for that."

He looked down and peeled back his glove. "Holy smokes, I'm late. Listen, I gotta go."

That reminded her of where she was supposed to be. "Yeah, actually me too. Nice seeing you, Incredible."

"Same to you, Elastigirl," he said as they ran off in separate directions.

Helen took a roundabout way back to her apartment but quickly changed from her supersuit before she got there.

Surprisingly, Bob wasn't there yet. She unlocked the door and went inside, wondering if he'd let himself in, but the place was empty.

She just had enough time to hide her suit when she heard a knock at the door.

"Hey, Bob," she said, opening it.

"Hi, Helen," he said, quickly coming in. "Sorry I'm late, I got a little caught up on my way here...what?"

She had stopped listening, instead, staring at him. Or, more specifically, the gash on his jaw. Still bleeding a little.

"Helen?"

"Where...how did you get that?" she said, pointing at it.

His hand flew up to cover it. "Oh, um…" A red tinge crept up his face. "Well, you see, the thing is…"

She came closer, examining his face. Imagining it with a mask on.

"Mr. Incredible?" she asked softly.

He looked terrified. "How...how did you…"

She grinned a little and reached out—extending her arms to his shoulders and pulling him closer. His eyes were as wide as hers.

"Elastigirl?" he murmured.

She smiled and kissed him.
