Have you ever woken up to the world burning before your very eyes?
This sentence was exactly what Hexagon saw when he made the mistake of glancing out his window.
Zombies and fire.
Lots and lots of Fire.
Oh and screams for help too.
He slid away from the windows and closed the curtains slowly.
Time to check on the Lahiffe family.
He checked on the family and was relieved to find that only were they still alive, they were currently having a fancy breakfast in a dinning room inside a lovely mansion.
So he had pretty much done his job-
He noticed the eldest boy stab the pancake on his plate like it somehow offended him.
Huh?
"Nino, you need to calm down" said, Mrs Lahiffe.
"Calm down!?" said Nino, releasing the fork he had gripped so tightly. "How can I calm down when my girlfriend and everybody I care about is currently trapped inside my school, rationing the food from the vending machines while I sit here, clean and eating fresh pancakes in a mansion"
He blinked.
Nino went on to say. "Mom, you may not care for your work colleagues and Chris is just happy to be anywhere amazing but I have people I care about. Its been several days and Supervisor has not responded. And every time I ask around, the others say just wait for orders."
Before the boy said. "I will never forgive myself if one of the people I love dies in there while I do nothing"
Torn between following orders and feelings.
Hexagon opened his mouth and said. "I did not expect to hear such a thing when I've just come back"
And all of them froze and then they said. "Supervisor?"
"Apologises" he said, "I had some urgent business to attend to that took longer than I thought." of course he wasn't going to tell them he was out cold for a few days. "Nino, I give you permission to tell your girlfriend about the pouch you gave her." the boy looked surprised. "Yes, I see everything and know you have been prepping her to survive this. The pouch should fix the food shortage in the school. In the mean time, we will see if the army can solve this problem. Keep in contact with her. Hopefully, we will not need to go to war"
"Thank you, Supervisor" said, Nino and then the boy began to eat.
In the meantime, he can chill in his safe house until the feeling of dread that told him the world was completely defeated settled in his gut.
He went to have a luxurious bath and then treated himself to a fancy breakfast while he watched the Lahiffe's.
Nino did text Alya after breakfast and told his mother the reaction.
"So I texted Alya about the pouch, that I seemly jokingly gave to her which she kept in a pocket in her school bag" he said, "As expected she freaked out when she tried and realised that I wasn't joking and is now telling everybody about this pouch. She also found my battery, so yeah, she's mad at me for tempering with her precious phone but she agreed not to tell anybody because you know, she would never see it again because somebody would steal it even if they can't call, they will still want it. But the food problem is solved."
That's great, no more starving people trapped in that school.
Nino then smiled a bit and said. "And now Alya is mad that I managed to fool her into thinking I'm just an adorable nerd for so long. She's mad that I hide the coolness from her and half the building thinks I'm the French version of James Bond"
Really?
Even he was amused.
"Anyway" said Nino. "I'll continue talking to her, getting details on the situation and then I'll return to school when this all clears up." he then said. "Urgh, I am not looking forward to that day. I feel like I'm going to be strapped to a chair for the whole day until I tell them something. Why did this have to happen?"
Indeed, he would have to go back to school and have everybody look at him like he had a blade hidden under his sleeve, which he did thanks to the X-skeleton but still.
"Well, until that happens" said, Mrs Lahiffe. "Lets enjoy our time here, after all, we can not waste seeing this organisation run city"
Yes, city.
He had expanded it into a city because a town doesn't exactly scream all-powerful.
But a city on the other hand with apartments, screamed 'We are not hurting at all'.
Nino agreed and they went outside and saw the beautiful city.
They enjoyed themselves for weeks until every human was hit with the same feeling.
The feeling of doom with no sprinkle of hope, they all got the feeling that their big and powerful military had been defeated and now they were all going to die like rats.
The organisation waited a few more days but the feeling of fighting truly had stopped.
Now there was only despair in the air.
He called Nino and Nino soon video called Alya, yes video called her.
For the first time in months, they saw each other face to face.
Alya, his girlfriend looked terrible, her hair was a complete mess and had lost its sheen, she had bags under her eyes, her clothes were worn away.
Him on the other hand looked amazing, he had eye contacts in, his skin was bright and smooth, his hair had grown a bit and was nicely washed and he was wearing lovely silk PJ's.
Both of them were shaken to the core seeing each other.
"What on earth happened to you?" said, both of them at the same time.
Then they paused before they both burst out laughing.
They looked like the extreme ends of society.
Suddenly Alya said. "Guys, its Nino! Nino is on video call!"
She went around yelling and people who were about to sleep or were sleeping woke the hell up.
"I'll put you on speakerphone" said, Alya as about a hundred people sharpened their ears to listen and about a dozen people peered over her shoulder to see the phone and how amazing he looked.
Even Chloe was shocked by how good he looked compared to her.
"Ur, hi everybody" he said.
And then they exploded, they all wanted answers, they wanted to know how he know about the Zombies, how he could hide such coolness from them, did he work for anybody, where was he? How did he look so good etc.
Even the children could see how amazingly good he had been to them in this time.
He just let the questions come before Alya yelled. "QUIET!"
They were silent, if the doors weren't so strong, they would have been Zombie buffet by now due to the noise.
"Nino, why did you video call" said, Alya.
"Thank you, Alya" he said, before he said. "Many of you have already realised it. I am not a normal person, I am Agent Nino Lahiffe of the ELD. A secret organisation that steps in when Earth needs help"
And just like that there was uproar again, Alya almost dropped her phone.
Thinking up theories vs hearing it from his own mouth was like comparing heaven and earth.
"No, way. Hes actually a secret agent."
"Are you serious?"
"Wow, there was a secret agent at school"
"Wow, Alya is dating somebody amazing"
"Wow, hes good. I wouldn't have suspected him at all"
Everybody was impressed, they truly did not expect for him to have such a cool side to him.
A secret agent was helping them.
Nino then said. "Yes, I am forced to reveal this to you, due to Earths current situation." hearing him talk they all quietened down. "My organisation predicted that this would happen and unfortunately it came true. We had hoped that with the current situation, the Military would be able to deal with this no problem but that Radio voice that screamed war for weeks has now gone dead silent. In fact, we hear fear. Now I and my organisation have to step in"
Step in?
There was joy in the air.
He had given them a pouch that produced any food they wanted, hot and cold, he was a merely person, what could a whole organisation do?
Nino continued to give them amazing news. "I will be attending a meeting soon to discuss how to get you all and everybody still in Paris out of here. You all will be transported to the city run by the organisation, the city of Lights, where I am"
Everybody uproar again.
He let them calm down and said. "This city used to be a town but due to the prediction it has upgraded into a city. Where I am, there is hot water, electricity, heating, internet, phone reception, houses with beds and essentials and many more. We managed to secure this because of the prediction"
Hearing the luxury they missed still existing out there, the joy burst and people wanted to go now.
They saw how good he looked and wanted that too.
He lived in such a place while they were here?
"All hands will be in deck from this moment on" he said, "Make sure those doors don't break. We will come and get you. Stay alive"
Then he ended the call.
He left then with so much joy in the air, that it was easy to see these people riot if he doesn't deliver on his promise, or worst yet, he died trying to save them.
A 14 year old boy was the only one who actually did anything for them and now he was promising to save them.
Things would get really bad if he doesn't live up to expectation.
A few days later, Alya woke up to the smell of chocolate which she took a bit off, only to realise she was really tasting chocolate.
She opened her eyes and her eyes met with the amused yellow eyes of the boyfriend she hadn't seen in person for months.
"Hi, Alya" he said, as he glowed yellow before her very eyes in a suit and tie.
She stared.
"Oh, my god. I'm dead aren't I?" she said, seeing him glow.
"No. That's just the shield around me" he said, before he hugged her and she realised he was real and hugged him back.
People around begin to wake up because of the noise.
They saw glowing Nino too and thought his ghost had come for them.
"I'm not dead" he said, to the wide eyed people.
He then began to walk and yell "Get up! Get Up! If you don't wake up, you'll miss your ride!"
He kept repeating it, waking the whole place up and making people cranky only to see him glowing which resulted in wide eyes.
When he was sure everybody was up, he said to a communicator.
"I've made contact after the bots have come to confirm there are no infectants amongst them" he said into it. "You are free to send everything forward"
"Yes, sir" said, a voice on the other end.
Then it happened.
A sound they never thought they would hear again happened.
The sound of a helicopters coming this way.
Everybody slowly looked up to find every type of flying transportation now coming into view above their heads.
It was such an amazing sight, it screamed of powerful.
The big boys had come now.
Nino then said to the crowd. "I am Agent Nino Lahiffe of the ELD, now who wants to get out of here?"
They all cheered as the ladders came down and people began pushing each other to get to the ladder.
Once the ladder was full it was pulled up, people who couldn't hold on were thrown off it and those who could hang on for dear life found q vehicle wrapped from top to bottom in bubble wrap, they found the pilot area blocked, but they found a cooler filled with water and ice-cream and a tv screen playing a movie.
The vehicle moved and another ladder came down for a new vehicle.
"Nino, were going to be talking about this" said, Alya gesturing to the amazing sight above and him.
"Yeah, sure" he said, it wasn't like he was going to reveal organisation secrets to her.
He got his ladder and wrapped his arm around her waist.
"Going up?" he said.
"Nino, if you drop me I'll hurt you" she said, and then they were pulled up to his fancy helicopter.
They entered a place glowing with a shield, it was incredible inside, nice seating and everything.
Alya was stunned as he lead her to a seat and closed the door.
He said. "Circle around Paris until everybody in the city has been evacuated"
The voice said. "Yes, sir"
The helicopter began to move.
Alya slowly turned to him.
"My family is really up there in terms of rank in the organisation" he said, before getting a soda and said. "Lets talk Alya."
Who would have thought he could keep such a big secret from her for so long?
Meanwhile in another location, a certain man decided to act like a leader and hopped into a jet.
It was time for the world leaders who had hid in their million dollar bunkers to meet the worlds best.
And scene!
