"So please, just leave me alone!"

Lexie turned to walk away, frustrated with Mark treating her like she was about to break. She was healing, and him treating her like glass wasn't helping that process.

Mark couldn't watch her walk away from him again. He couldn't lose her. She was the love of his life, and he had to let her know.

"Marry me."

Lexie stopped dead in her tracks. Her breath caught in her throat and her heart began to race.

"I love you Lexie. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I want I spend the rest of my life loving you, making you smile, making you happy, making you laugh. I want to spend the rest of my life waking up next to you each morning and falling asleep next to you every night. And I know that this is a lot and that you aren't ready for this, but none of this is going to change, Lex. A day, a week, a month, a year, five years, I'm still going to feel the same way."

"Mark..."

"No, Lex. I mean it. You're it for me. I'm done. So whether you say yes now or in five years, I'm still going to want to marry you. I'm still going to want to spend the rest of my life with you. I'm still going to want to have kids with you. I'm still going to want to build a life with you. I'm still going to want to grow old with you. So I'm asking, even though I don't expect you to give me an answer, because I need you to know. When I look at you, I see my future wife, the mother of my children, my soul mate, my other half, my everything, my world, my entire heart."

"Mark..." There were tears streaming down Lexie's face now as she looked at him.

Mark approached her slowly, taking her hand. "So I'm asking." He got down on one knee, and even though this proposal was rather spontaneous, in that moment the fact that he didn't have a ring was irrelevant.

"Alexandra Caroline Grey, will you marry me?"

"Yes."
