Paul's POV

The pain has dulled infinitesimally, and my chest has felt like it's lightened. My imprint was nearby. I was so angry, ever since that first night. The night that I could literally feel her infidelity. There were more nights of it, when she first left for College. At least it was infidelity to me. I know we aren't together. But she knew what she was to me. Why did she sleep with someone else?!

It was Lunch time over at Sam's place, all the wolves except for the two, Leah and Jacob, on patrol. Apparently someone moved into the Town of Forks. The house is on the border of La Push, so we have to patrol— make sure there is no Vampire scent.

I sat at the table, quietly watching all my pack brothers goof off, while waiting for food. I smirked as the guys wrestled around the table, only to be yelled at by Emily. "SIT DOWN AT MY TABLE, or go outside!"

That had immediately seen all the men seated at her small kitchen table. Waiting patiently for her to place the food on the table, and the imprints to grab their own plates before diving into the food. I hadn't touched my food yet because I could feel the ever present pain vanishing. Replaced by a feeling of being home.

I flew out of my seat and out the front door in seconds, followed by everyone else. I was staring at my imprint walking up to the porch. A sway to her delectable hips, and her hair swinging around her shoulders.

And then I was moving. Moving to grab the trays out of her arms with one arm, and pulling her against me with the other. "I've missed you, Isabella."

My wolf purred in contentment, as she melted into my chest and whispered, "I'm sorry, my wolf, I just had to leave. I had to get out.. to heal. I've missed you, so much. The ache is finally gone."

My eyes widen and I pull back slightly, "You felt the pull, as well? How much pain were you in? Why did you force yourself to endure it. Why..?"

She looked up into my eyes, and flinched back. I wonder what she's seeing. Perhaps anger, anguish, pain, hurt, fear? A mix?

"I.. can't explain here. Not with so many ears.." she said softly, as my arm moved from around her and dropped. "I'm sorry, Paul."

Although I was angry, I nodded my understanding and carried the trays of food into the house. And found my seat again. I was surrounded by people, meaning Isabella couldn't sit next to me. I wanted her to, but I couldn't just yet. She had to explain her behavior before my wolf felt better. Meaning I'd feel hostile towards my own Imprint.

"Isabella! Is that your house on the border?" Sam questioned. He looked shocked at seeing her back in town, and obviously blurted out the first question.

She laughed out loud, her head tilted back. Her hair flowing over her shoulders and said shoulders quivering from her amusement. "Well. Hello to you, too, Sam! Hey Emily!"

I smirked as our almighty alpha blushed and looked away. Emily giggled as she pulled some blueberry muffins out of the oven. "It's nice to see you, Isabella! I see you're looking my Cj better. Tanner as well!"

I watched as she struck an innocent pose, and smirked, "That's what getting out of this Hell-hole does for you." Her eyes slid over to me, and she smiled slightly, "If only for a little while. I have some unfinished business here. Someone I've been looking forward to getting to know."

"You never answered the question, Isabella." I heard Jared say from across the table. I watched as her head tilted slightly to look at him.

"To answer your question, Yes. Yes, it is. By the way, you might catch a couple vampire scents around it. I happened to catch myself a pair of over-protective Nomads. They scented the area to warn off the Cullens. They aren't very fond of them, for what they did." Her eyes lit up with amusement and delight at a thought that popped into her mind.

It must've been something funny, because she smiled brightly. I felt intense jealousy run through my veins. My imprint, being protected by Leeches!

I didn't realize I stood up and was shaking, not that my imprint had made her way to me. My shaking increased. She was near the Leeches again!

Several things happened at once. But the only noticeable thing was my Isabella. She was walking towards me slowly, like she was approaching a caged animal— perhaps that is what she's doing, the errant thought ran through my head. Sam had tried to stop her, worried about her safety. The other men were staring warily at me. They hadn't seen me shift in anger in a long time. The last time I did, was the last time I felt the infidelity caused by Her. And the last thing I remember happening was her pushing me out the door and continuously pulling me into the yard.

"Paul, either shift and vent your anger. Or get over it and accept that you're not the only Being that wants to protect me. Either way stop acting like a fool." I stared at her incredulously. "What are you waiting for?"

And next thing I know I'm shifting into a wolf. Standing above my imprint. Snarling and growling. Hugging and pacing. And she's not terrified. My imprint isn't scared of us! Everyone else's imprint shrinks into themselves when they see the fully grown wolves. She waits patiently for me to calm down and when it seems I'm not calming down she walks closer to me. Calmly. I growl at her once before backing up. I cant, and won't hurt her. The wolf has more co tell when I'm like this, if he's hurting then he'll make her show her submissiveness. I try hard to stay away from her.

Suddenly my body stops moving backwards and actually stalks towards her. She seems to halt her steps for a minute. Before walking towards me some more. As my wolf leaps at her, I'm once more in shock.

My eyes catch the sight of the pack attempting to get towards us, but something invisible is keeping them out. And my Isabella is no longer human. She's a giant grizzly bear. So huge in fact that she's outgrown me.

I can hear her thoughts, as if they were in a glass jar. And then suddenly, I can hear something she wanted me to hear. If you want a fight, come get it Paul. I know I hurt you.. and I know the wolf is demanding punishment. But we weren't together then. We weren't anything. I ran from you, knowing I wasn't ready for you!

And those words caused my wolf to take over completely and attacked her.
