Hope was a little dumbfounded. Her? A beast hybrid? Half-gem was one thing, but being a creature that had the power to save all life in existence. It was crazy. "W-wait." Hope said after overcoming her initial shock. "You're saying I'm this creature that has the power to save everyone. How can you say that?! Plus, I'm HUMAN! I don't have wings and a tail." Pop! She heard gasps behind her. She turned around to see all the gems staring at her in shock. "What?"
"Uh...Hopeā¦" Aquamarine said. She was still on the ground but she could see a dark blue tail with silver spots glittering in the bright sunlight. "You might want to look in a mirror." She soon found that she gained some feeling back into her arm. She pointed to the tail.
"Oh, I'm not falling for that Aquamarine." Hope said.
"Hope," Larimar said. "I think she's telling the truth this time."
Lapis immediately grabbed the water from the lake and froze the ice around it. To Hope's shock, she saw silvery horns on her head. Her eyes still held their usual blue color but the pupils were cat-like. There was a tail with webbing at the end. What surprised her most were the wings on her back. Sleek and fragile. They looked as though they could bruise easily. What was even astounding was the rainbow webbing with stars highlighting them.
This started to become too much for Hope. First, her aunt turned out to be a manipulative monster. Next, her gem somehow caused her to create a projection of herself as Pearl had previously put it. Now she learned she's a full-fledged alien hybrid. Hope began to laugh hysterically. "O-oh great! After all this time. The truth FINALLY comes out. Why didn't they come look for me then? Where were they when I had nobody?" She glared hard at Guran. "Can you answer me that!?"
Guran sighed and looked down remorsefully. "Hope, your parents are dead. They died trying to protect you." He turned his gaze upward. "They loved you so much."
Hope finally broke down. She fell hard on the ground trying to run away. It was hard moving around with wings and a tail. "It's not fair! Why do I keep going on if I have nothing but disappointments in the end. Nothing good ever happens to me! No one wanted me around. I was never worth their time. Now, I found out that I'm literally an alien from outer space and suppose to accept this big destiny!?" She heard steps moved forward.
"Hope", Volleyball said. "Remember what happened at the hospital? You do have TWO good things in your life." She knelt down. "Us and knowing now that your parents loved you."
"Right." Larimar piped up. "You saved us when we were in trouble. You even risked your life to save these two." She pointed a thumb at them.
"Hey." Eyeball growled.
"Hope," Jasper also knelt down. "We can help you get through this. It won't be easy but the least I can do is make sure no one hurts you." She dug a fist into her palm to prove a point.
"Yeah!" Amethyst agreed. "Let's take those losers down!"
"Woah...Slow down." Garnet said. "We still need to earn the trust of everyone here. They have been through a lot and so have we." She nodded to Nek who was trying to calm his friends down.
Hope's heart felt lighter at that point. It did give her comfort that her parents didn't abandon her and at least she has some friends to help her through it. She slowly got up from her spot and wiped away her tears. "Thank you everyone." She turned to Gura. "I don't know what to think of all this just yet, but I'll do what I can." Hope's tail twitched. Her wings flared up. Eyes now focused and determined. "So, if you're planning to teach us, then we're ready. What's the first step?"
