Jacob's POV
I broke out into a run as soon as I heard the screech. I knew that screech. It was Bella. My best friend. My imprint's mother. It's the same screech she used to wake up from, when Edward...
That son of a bitch! I thought as I sprinted in wolf form across the property, passing the entire family as they started heading towards her. He left her, again! He promised. He made the vow! He was her mate...!
Without a glance around the ruined room, I brushed Ness as I finally made it to Bella and curled around her broken form. She was curled into a ball, sobbing brokenly, and had buried her head into my side. Unintentionally breaking a rib or two with her speed and strength.
What truly broke my heart, was the heart-wrenching tears and whimpers that fell from my imprint. I couldn't just leave my spot, but I felt the floor vibrate as she crawled across the floor and curled both Bella and me. I wrapped my large frame around both of my two favorite people, and let out a threatening growl, when I smelt the others in the door way.
Klaus' POV
That insolent wolf just growled at me! Me! Niklaus Mikaelson! How dare— Wait. What is he wrapped around?!
I didn't know vampires could become a stone ball! My mind supplied in my state of shock. And most heartbreaking was the whimpers and sobs coming from the two women being curled around by the alpha wolf. He's protecting my family. He's protecting them. What happened?!
"What happened?" Came the instantaneous and calm question from the Coven Leader. Carlisle, my mind supplies.
I hold out my arm as he's about to step into the house, even with the reverberating growls coming from the wolf. "Don't enter yet. He's protecting them."
I hear a someone lithely bypassing all the wolves and vampires in the doorway, and look sideways when Hayley steps up beside me. "Don't even try it, Nik. I'm going in there." I glower are her, but release the arm my hand automatically had grabbed.
"Be careful." I mutter. I watch closely as she steps through the thoroughly trashed house. Until I hear the growls increase in volume. I watch as Hayley ignores the growling wolf and sits on a cushion in front of the curled wolf. Her hand brushing his snout.
"I know they're hurting, Jacob. Let me in to help. I promise I won't hurt them, I cannot hurt them." She places her hand on her stomach, "they are family. And I am more vulnerable." I hear a whimper from behind me. Seems that her mate doesn't want her in there at all.
I watch as the wolf lifts his head off his hind legs and grunts as he slowly unwraps. Now that I'm focusing on him, I can smell the scent of blood coming from him. He's injured! How did... oh! Bella must have been using her strength unknowingly. Perhaps even Renesmee.
"Thank you, Jacob." I watch her slowly crawl forward and place a hand in the crying Renesmee's arm and when the girl's tears renew, she pulls the crying teen into her arms. "Shh, Ness. Shh. It's going to be okay. I promise."
The loud wail came from the teen as she started to shake, "No, it won't! It won't be okay! He left! He left us!" And all of a sudden she stops shaking, she's calming down as Hayley runs her hands through her hair. "He promised to stay! He promised no more leaving!"
"I know, it's going to hurt.. but you have people to help you! I promise. I'm not going anywhere. You're family is here." She soothes the girl and puts her next to Jacob, again. "Jacob, she needs you. Not wolf you. Human you. Shift back." At her soft command he shifts and pulls the child into his arms, ignoring the immense pain he is probably in.
I step into the room and inch my way closer to Isabella. "Bella. Look at me." He softly order. Her eyes flicker up to meet mine and I see I have her attention, even though her heart is shattering. "Pull yourself together. Mikaelsons do not cry over wastes of space. And you, my dear, are a Mikaelson. So get up, dust off your knees, and put yourself together." I watched as her eyes hardened. And she stood up. I heard my sister gasp in the background.
She truly IS a Mikaelson. Look at that fire, building in her eyes. I think proudly. And I pull her into my arms, as Hayley stands up as well. "It will be okay, Bella."
I turn towards the group, "Take them back to your main house, please? My brothers and sister will help me clean and fix what can be fixed. And order brand new furniture for this place. Isabella, make this your safe haven. You're family home."
"I can't believe that complete fool!" Rebekah said as she stormed around the room and picked up pieces of furniture that weren't destroyed and placed them in their appropriate spot.
I was sweeping up all the broken glass and wood shards, when I came across a crumpled piece of paper. When I lifted it and caught Edward's scent, I tended as I read it.
I threw it into the pile of garbage and stormed from the house, away from my siblings calling my name. I swept up into the main house, made it to my family. I watched for a moment as Bella, Renesmee, and Hayley curled up on the Loveseat. I walked into the room and stopped in front of them.
I cleared my throat and waited for them to acknowledge me, irritating as it is. "Nik?" Hayley questions.
"I'd like to extend the invitation to you three."
"What invitation?"
"The invitation to live in the Mikaelson Mansion. It's where the entire family lives. Despite all our issues. So?"
"The wolves would have to come with." I guess my face held a bit of confusion because Bella continued speaking, "Jacob is Renesmee's mate. Leah is Hayley's. And Seth is very protective of what he considers his family."
I growl slightly at the thought of the grown wolf being the mate of my "teenage" great-great granddaughter. I went to speak, but was cut off by Renesmee.
"It's not like that, grandpa. Jake is whatever I need him to be. A brother, friend, lover, whatever I need, he will be."
