Disclaimer: I don't own Bleach. It's property of Tite Kubo.
Author's Note: Hi! Welcome back to another one-shot!
This time around we have a story set in the future, so it doesn't follow what we know so far, because this one takes place much later. Think about it as a glimpse into their future. It also is mostly abstract. There's not much plot going on and you'll know why when you read it. It is also shorter than the previous one-shots. I want to make clear some will be longer than others. This one-shot was always intended to be this short, while others might need more time to be explained.
I really hope you like it.
Thank you for taking the time to read and review this collection!
I appreciate all of your support.
See ya!
starry-eyed
Prompt: stars in your eyes
Summary: In that moment, they are so close that he can count whole galaxies in her eyes.
"Thy eyes hold countless stars yet to be discovered." ― Avijeet Das
The universe is vast.
Ichigo is well aware of this truth.
More so, he knows that beyond the Earth, beyond space, there exists an afterlife. Three other worlds to think about. And who knows what else is out there, hidden from sight.
Existence in this world appears immeasurable.
Deep and dark and infinite.
How many more secrets will be discovered in the future?
The thought is scary if exciting.
To know there is more out there.
But at the moment it all seems so small and insignificant in comparison to the view he now gets to experience.
Rukia's skin is boundless under his fingertips, as he traces the journey his mouth and hands will follow. He is an explorer and she is his canvas, waiting to be marked and molded and tainted.
No.
Not tainted.
That is such a horrid word to describe what they are doing.
It is more an act of creation.
The two of them, transformed.
Anew.
It is sublime, to get to know each other like never before.
And Rukia…
Gods, she is divine, glowing as she smiles at him, her fingers tangled in his hair, as she erupts in an enraptured melody each time he moves or touches her just right.
And Ichigo dies each time he buries himself in her.
That would be his grave if he could choose.
But death had never felt this alive before.
It stirs something in him that had been dormant for so long.
It is exhilarating.
Jubilant even.
To know they are one at the moment, tied together by more than their mere bodies, but by something else that transcends time and space.
And if they could stay right here in this moment, just the two of them, together forever, they would.
Yet, Ichigo discovers this is not his favorite part.
Rukia calls out to him, and she finally opens her eyes, which had been closed in the throes of passion.
In that moment, they are so close that he can admire the dark sky in her eyes. And in them, he can count every sparkle, every light. There are not only stars in her eyes, but whole galaxies.
He suddenly feels untethered, drifting away to a world unknown, where not only his body feels aflame but also his very soul.
And he wonders suddenly how they had gotten to this point.
He thinks about every moment that got them there, from meeting each other to about an hour ago, when they had gazed at each other and had wordlessly decided to turn their lives upside down.
It is not a bad change, he muses as Rukia once more closes her eyes as she cries out his name in the thrill of it all.
It is definitely a good arrangement.
Because he longs to see those countless stars again.
He never wants to miss them.
Not anymore.
A/N: So this is a one-shot who has stayed the same throughout this process. Originally all one-shots were going to be a self-contained story, like how I usually write stories for IR Month. However, when I decided to create an overall story with all the prompts, I thought hard if this one-shot should stay the same or not. But since I liked the idea of Ichigo waxing poetic while making love to Rukia, I decided to leave it as it is. As I stated above, it was also always meant to be this short.
I could have written a longer smutty scene, but I'm not interested in the lust of it all, but in the love and admiration and how it is just another way to bond with each other. Different to their relationship, but it adds instead of substracting. And it also is not everything, but since this is the first time, it is exciting, like getting to know each other again, just differently.
To be honest, Ichigo and Rukia don't need physical contact in their relationship, but I don't think a physical and sexual layer to their relationship taints it or diminishes it as less than being platonic. I don't know if I'm making much sense. All I wanted was to explore how it would feel for them to do it for the first time and all the happy emotions they would have.
I'm also a sucker for Rukia's eyes and I wanted Ichigo to see them sparkling in the midst of making love, so there's that.
Hope you guys liked it!
