Czar Joseph: Really? Fuck, didn't notice it.

MidnightJaybird: Don't worry, that would be for the future. As for Solid Snake, well, it's kinda hard to Add him to the FF.

Aergaia: Of course he deserves it.

Wombag1786: Thanks, and keep the good work my friend.

MidnightJaybird: Thought that too, but thanks. And for that, well, there's the Omakes.

Chapter 20

After what happened, the girls of team RWBY were still surprised by what Snake had revealed to them. Their teammate turned out to be a soldier from another world, a place where Grimm or faunus did not exist, but it was even more shocking to know that he was an old man, who for some reason just reincarnated in Remnant in a young body.

Even though that sounded creepy, the girls decided to accept who Big Boss really was, although for now they only knew a part of what was the life of the legendary hero. But that wasn't the strangest thing, because Yang had told the girls that someone, some kind of spirit or ghost, showed her what Snake had told them.

"So... everything Yang said turned out to be true." Said Ruby, with a slightly worried expression on her face.

At that time team RWBY was in the dorm room. After Snake's revelation about who he was and where he came from, team RWBY accepted him as another person, despite being an old legendary hero in a young body. But even so, at that time that was the least of the girls' concerns.

"Are we really going to believe that some kind of ghost got into Yang's mind and showed her what Snake did in that operation be told us?" Weiss said, with her typical annoying tone of voice.

"At this point, Weiss, where a man came from another world and reincarnated into a younger body, can you doubt something like that?" Blake said, with a calm expression and tone of voice.

"So... should we tell him?" Ruby asked, but she wasn't sure if it was a good or bad idea.

"No, whatever he is, we don't know if The Sorrow would try to talk to me again... or if he would try with any of you. But I think it's for the better not to tell Snake." Yang said, with a serious expression.

It is true that the idea of a ghost that talked to people might sound ridiculous, but up to this point, what things could have the description of 'ridiculous'? The world was quite weird. In the end, the girls would keep that for themselves.

In the end the girls nodded, agreeing that this would stay between them. Maybe just for a while, maybe forever. But leaving that aside, there was still something else the girls had to do, and of course it was related to Snake.

"Leaving aside all this things about The Sorrow, you don't have a date, Ruby?" Asked Blake, teasing the team leader a little.

"It's not a date." Said Ruby, at the time of denying it she was pouting a little and her cheeks turned slightly red.

"Owww my little sister is growin' up." Yang joined and began to tease Ruby, while gently patting her head.

"Ugh I hate you!" Ruby complained, without saying it seriously. Embarrassed by what Yang and Blake said soon she left the room.

There was a short laugh from Weiss, Blake and Yang at the attitude of the team leader, but everything they said was in good heart.

"Heh... We are aware that your sister is going on a date with a mentally 79-year-old man, right?" Blake said, in a calm tone, but he wanted to know how Yang would react.

Yang simply shook her head, with a smile on her face. "It's not a date, and it's not like they are going to do somethin' wrong. I trust Snake."

"You're right, he never had weird intentions. On the contrary, it seems that he is simply not attracted to young women, in a way that's something to admire." Weiss commented, with a small smile and a tone of respect towards the legendary soldier.

"Uhh... haha... you're right." Yang commented with a short and cheerless smile.

"That... would make sense..." Blake commented, in a low tone when thinking about that.

"Wait..." Soon Weiss realized what she was saying, and soonher mood, like Blake and Yang fell a little.

It was then that the girls realized that the feelings they had towards Big Boss would probably NEVER be taken seriously or even noticed by him, for the simple fact that compared to him and his true age he could be their grandfather, one obsessed with cardboard boxes.

Then, Weiss, Blake and Yang smacked their foreheads with the palm of their hand, all three sharing a single word in mind.

(Damn it!)

— l — l — l —

Of course, the term "Date" would have been a bit exaggerated, at least that was what Yang told Snake later, after having told him her idea and explained it. Yang had explained that the girls could use Snake for a day as they wanted. But of course girls would never take advantage of their friend... well, maybe Weiss.

"It's not a date, it's not a date." Ruby repeated herself, with an expression of irritation on her face.

Ruby was on her way to the entrance of the Emerald forest, while she carried her weapon, in the form of a sniper rifle. She took a deep breath and relaxed, her expression quickly relaxed. And when she was approaching the entrance to the forest, it was there when the team leader saw a certain familiar male figure.

"Snake!" Ruby called him, cheerfully.

Snake turned around, and saw Ruby approach, he raised a hand to greet her. As always, he had a calm expression, and a very small smile. Big Boss at the moment was wearing the tiger stripe camo, and carried the Intervention on his back. "Hey Ruby."

"Kept you waiting, huh?" Said Ruby with a small grin.

Snake raised an eyebrow upon hearing what Ruby said.

"Hehe, sorry." Ruby said, still with a smile, in a friendly way. "Let's began, shall we?"

"Let's go." Snake nodded.

That was when Big Boss and Ruby began to enter the forest. The request that Ruby made to Snake was that both went to the forest to hunt together, since they were both users of sniper rifles, so in part Ruby wanted to compete against Big Boss. Of course that everything was in friendly terms.

"You had done this with someone else before? Hunting with someone else who uses a sniper rifle, I mean." Snake asked.

"In fact no, never. Not many people use a sniper rifle as a weapon." Ruby answered.

"Well, where I come from there are no people who have a sniper rifle that can be transformed into a huge scythe." Big Boss answered simply.

Hearing that Ruby let out a giggle. "That's because my baby is special and there is no other like her in the universe." Maybe a little exaggerated what Ruby said.

"Hold on." Snake said suddenly, and soon he lowered the body a little. He soon took the Intervention from his back and placed a mag in the weapon. "You see it? At 40 meters, between the trees."

Ruby also lowered her body a little, it's not something she would usually do, but she did it when she saw that Snake had done it. "Yeah, a Beowolf, and he's alone."

"Well, I guess this is where we started, right?" Boss said, with a slightly more lively tone. "You go first?"

"I'll take the shot." Ruby said with smile and a confident expression. Ruby took Crescent Rose in sniper rifle mode. Without taking more than 3 seconds she pointed to the head and shot at the Grimm. The shot was clean, and the dark creature fell to the ground, and soon what was the corpse began to disappear.

"Nice shot." Snake said calmly. Now that he thought about it, he had never seen Ruby use her weapon as a firearm, since usually, for example in combat class, she used it in the form of a scythe.

"Hehe it was nothing." Said Ruby smiling.

Snake nodded and showed a small smile. After that both continued walking among the trees. But soon Ruby asked a question.

"Hey Snake, tell me, why did you join Beacon Academy?" Ruby asked, with a genuine expression of curiosity.

"Well, basically when I arrived I had nowhere to go. When we arrived in Beacon, I explained my situation to Ozpin and he let me stay." Big Boss replied, in a simple tone.

"I understand but, but have you not worried about it? I mean, you come from another world, would you not want to return to Earth?"

"Not really... I mean, there's nothing on Earth, no reason, to go back. Also, up to this point, I think it's completely impossible." Snake replied, with a calm expression but a serious tone. In fact he had never thought of returning to Earth, but since he died there then he had to assume that returning to his world would be impossible. Although he was also reborn in another world, so it was difficult to say what is impossible and what isn't.

"I see..." Ruby replied, lowering her head a little and with a tone of sympathy.

"What about you? What is your reason? Why did you decide to become a Huntress?" Boss asked, a little curious about it.

Before Ruby could give an answer, she saw a Grimm in the distance, it seemed to be another Beowolf, at a distance of about 50 meters, between the bushes. Ruby soon aimed her gun at Grimm.

*BANG*

A shot was heard among the trees and bushes, and that beast had fallen dead without any problem. Ruby quickly noticed that it was Snake who had shot him, since he'd reacted faster.

"Too slow Ruby." Said Boss with a small grin.

"I had to let you shoot now." Ruby replied with a short giggle. "So... why did I wanted to become a Huntress?"

"Uh-huh."

Once again both began to walk, while the only thing that was heard at that time inside the forest were their voices and the sound of their footsteps in the grass. It seemed that at the moment they were completely alone.

"I always liked those stories about heroes, about someone brave who fights for innocent people and for what's right." Ruby admitted, without shame or embarrassment, and with an honest smile on her face.

"Mhhh..." Big Boss said nothing about it at that moment, since he remembered that he had already talked about that kind of thing with Ruby before and it didn't quite end well.

"But..." Ruby still kept a smile, but her expression showed a little of sadness. "I'm sure you wouldn't think the same."

"Yeah... I don't think the same way." Boss said, in a calm and simple tone. "The meaning of 'right' can change from one day to another... Maybe I say it because I'm not used to how the Huntsman see their own work."

"Yeah, you said you were a soldier." Ruby mentioned.

"Yes, although I was also a mercenary." Snake answered, because in part Snake thought that Huntsman could sometimes act as mercenaries.

"You were a mercenary?" Ruby asked surprised.

"Yup, but that's a story for another day." Snake replied in a simple tone.

And Big Boss wasn't kidding. His life was long and therefore there was still much to tell, whether it was about his adventures and misfortunes, although of course, that would only be if the girls wanted to hear that. For now, Boss was more focused on hunting, although there didn't seem to be so many Grimm at the moment.

Big Boss and Ruby continued to enter the forest, although the more they advanced through that small area both felt that the temperature of the place decreased. But it was then that Snake began to recognize the place. That was when Ruby spoke. "Is it my imagination or does this place feels... cold?"

Boss just made a 'mhhh' sound while looking around, that got Ruby's attention.

"Is something wrong, Snake?" Ruby asked.

"This place... I think it's the place where I woke up." Snake mentioned. "I guess we got a little away from the Academy."

"Yeah... I didn't notice but I think we walked a lot." Ruby mentioned, as she looked around the place. "Is there anything special about this place?"

The attention of both soon turned to what seemed to be a growl, which seemed to come from the sky. That only meant one thing. Ruby and Snake exchanged glances for a second and both nodded as they thought about the same thing, and soon they took their weapons.

From the sky soon appeared a Nevermore, a fairly huge one, being slightly larger than two Bullhead placed together. It seemed that the creature had quickly noticed the presence of the mercenary and the grim reaper. But Snake and Ruby didn't even flinch.

"I'll go to the right." Snake said as he grabbed his sniper rifle.

"The left is mine." Ruby answered a smile, ready for combat.

The Nevermore flew against Snake and Ruby, trying to use their claws to catch them, without success. Both of them managed to avoid the claws of that Grimm, without any problem.

"Snake! Let's go for the eyes!" Ruby yelled at the mercenary.

"Okay!" Snake responded from the other side.

It was at that moment that Ruby, using her Semblance, quickly jumped and used her scythe to attack one of the wings of the Nevermore, partially cutting it, hurting the Grimm, but nothing serious. Even so, the monster let out a shriek of pain. That was when Ruby held Crescent Rose in the form of a firearm, she fired a bullet into the eye of the Grimm, the left eye of the second pair.

At the same time, after Ruby's quick attack, Big Boss had simply moved to the right. Although he now had Aura he was not able to jump long distances or run faster, for example like Ruby, but that did not mean he was weak. The moment Ruby shot the Nevermore in the left eye, the Grimm was exposed for a moment, besides being distracted. Snake used the Intervention, and almost immediately shot the creature in the right eye of the second pair. This left the Nevermore only with the pair of front eyes.

"Nice shot!" Ruby said, excited at the fight and seeing how the eye of the Grimm received a clean hit.

"We're not done yet." Boss answered.

The attack hurt the Nevermore, but it definitely didn't stop him, and it seemed that the creature was very angry. The Nevermore moved away from the ground, and for a moment it seemed he was escaping. But it wasn't like that, the Grimm took a quick turn around the area and the sky to gain speed.

"Here it comes!" Ruby stated, getting ready to fight back.

Snake moved quickly to where Ruby was, with the Intervention in his hands. "Ruby, aim again at the eye, we'll take him down together."

"That wouldn't be enough to kill him." Ruby answered.

"I know, that's why you'll give him the final slash." Big Boss stated, with a small grin.

Ruby seemed to have understood what Snake was trying to say, to which she simply responded with a confident smile. "Let's do this!"

The Nevermore at that time approached Ruby and Snake, flying towards the ground and preparing its claws. Snake and Ruby were together at that time, their shoulders almost touching each other, both aimed their weapons at the same time and in sync both fired.

*BANG!*

They managed to shoot the Nevermore in his two remaining eyes without problem, leaving the Grimm without the ability to see again. However, that did not make the winged beast stop, because it still fell to where Snake and Ruby were. Both Ruby and Boss didn't flinch when they saw how the Grimm was wounded and fell from the sky. When it lost the sight, the Grimm flew right above them, unable to harm them, but the wind caused by the Grimm only made Ruby's cape and Snake's bandana blew.

The Nevermore crashed into a tree, and soon fell to the ground, the creature let out several shrieks, perhaps of hate or pain, but it didn't matter, because there was only one thing left to do.

"Ruby! The head!" Boss indicated to Ruby.

"Leave it to me!" Ruby said, with a confident smile.

The young team leader wielded her weapon, in the form of a scythe, and without wasting time, Ruby jumped in the direction of Nevermore and quickly she slashed the head of the beast in two, vertically. Ruby fell to the ground, and behind her the Nevermore fell dead. In the end the Nevermore began to disintegrate, there was ash and dust, accompanied by what was rose petals.

Ruby turned to see Big Boss at that moment, she showed a thumbs up. Snake showed a small smile and nodded.

"That was awesome! I had never faced such a large Nevermore!" By that time Ruby returned to her hyperactive and cheerful mode. Soon she started walking to where Snake was.

"Me neither, but you did well." Snake replied.

"It wasn't just me, we both made it, it was teamwork." Ruby replied, even with that smile.

"Well, it doesn't bother me to have some credit from time to time." Boss answered, but due to his tone he was joking.

"Even so, I wonder why such a large Nevermore would appear here." Ruby said, with a thoughtful expression and a hand on her chin.

Snake said nothing, however, he just stared around the place. Boss didn't remember it at all but he was sure that this place was the area where he woke up in Remnant. And he began to wonder if that place had something special. Although Boss also thought something else. He thought that the air and the environment was strangely known to him.

"Is something wrong, Snake?" Ruby asked.

"No, it's just... This place seems familiar..." Snake answered calmly.

"Well... You said you woke up here, right?" Ruby mentioned.

"Yeah, but I mean it's like I've been in a place like this before... even before coming to Remnant." But in the end Big Boss decided not to give so much attention to the place. "Doesn't matter Ruby, let's get out of here."

"Okay." Ruby decided not to ask any more questions about it, and along with Big Boss began to leave the place. And as they retired, they both felt that the cold in the area also began to disappear, but they did not mention anything about it. It seemed that at the moment there was no more Grimm, so Ruby decided to take advantage of the situation and talk once more about what they believe.

"Then tell me Snake, why do you keep fighting?" Ruby asked, with a curious expression on her face.

That was a good question. The motives of Big Boss to fight remained on Earth when he died, however, the answer could be, sadly, simpler. "Fight is the only thing I know. It's only when I'm cheating death on the battlefield. The only time I feel truly alive."

"Ohh..." Ruby answered, under her breath. She didn't understand if there was another reason. But in a way that sounded sad. In fact, it's almost the same thing Snake had said to Weiss, Yang and Blake, only that Ruby wasn't there at the time, so she didn't know anything.

"I guess that's not the answer you were looking for." Big Boss answered dryly.

"Yeah... But I don't know if it's the truth." Ruby answered back.

That was when Big Boss showed an expression that combined confusion and curiosity, hearing what the young girl said.

"Back in Mountain Glenn, you wanted to go and face the White Fang by yourself and prevent innocent people from getting hurt." Ruby stated.

Unfortunately that was not a coincidence, Big Boss and Ozpin already knew that White Fang would be there. Although they both did not know what the terrorists were up to, everything that happened next was mere coincidence, but Snake decided not to mention it.

"You knew what to do, if it wasn't for you we don't know what would have happened later, maybe the Grimm would have invaded Vale. For a moment I thought you acted as if you were the team leader... like a true hero. And that motivated me even more to fight, to believe that we, as Huntsman and Huntress, can make a difference and save the day. That's why I want to fight for what's right. To keep people safe and fight the Grimm... Even if I'm just one person... and even if I'm not a superhero like you." Ruby said. No smile, just a determined expression.

Big Boss could only sigh under his breath. "I'm no hero. Never was... never will be."

Ruby was a little surprised to hear that, and suddenly she stopped walking, Ruby for a brief moment looked down. She knew that Big Boss had fought the bad guys to keep the peace and avoid a war between two nations in his world, even though that meant the death of his mentor. But Ruby really expected Snake to understand what she meant. Soon Ruby stopped walking, Snake took a few steps ahead... but he also stopped.

"But..." Big Boss said, without turning to see Ruby, he simply continued to turn his back on her. "There is nothing wrong or embarrassing in fighting for what you believe, Ruby. On the contrary, it's something to admire and respect. You have to believe in your own will, and no one should change that."

Upon hearing that Ruby opened her eyes a little more than usual. And soon her gaze was on Snake.

"And you're not alone... you have your team. Weiss, Blake and Yang. I'm sure they would support your decision and your way of thinking." Big Boss said.

Ruby paid full attention to what Boss said, those words were enough to recover Ruby's mood a little more. But she still wasn't satisfied. She wanted to hear a little more. "And what about you...? I can count on you?"

Boss slowly turned his head to look at Ruby. He nodded and showed a more notorious smile. "Yes... yes, you can count on me."

Hearing that, Ruby's cheeks turned a slight red color, and her heart raced a little. But still, she smiled. "Thanks, you really are a good friend."

"It's fine." Said Snake, with a calm expression. "Let's go back to Beacon."

"Let's go!" Ruby said cheerfully, and walking faster to get next to Snake. "I can't wait to tell them about the Grimm that we kill, both of us!

Big Boss could only think about what he said to Ruby, what Boss said he said it honestly, and although he doesn't think the same way, he could only respect Ruby's will. That was when he remembered something.

(It's about respecting the will of others... and believing in your own... right, Boss?)

End of Chapter 20

● Omake ●

The meaning of a dream. (l)

"Please give an applause to the great Ruby Rose again." Ozpin said while speaking on the microphone.

The amphitheater was full of students, clapping and cheering for Ruby's name, even throwing roses towards the stage while Ruby was there, with a big, proud smile on her face.

"Thanks, thanks. Please don't stop throwing roses, I almost stepped on the ground." Ruby said with a big smile as she waved her hand to the students.

"As everyone will know, today we celebrate Ruby for all her achievements. Thanks to Ruby the Grimm were exterminated, the White Fang ceased to be a terrorist organization, the faunus and the humans agreed to put aside their differences, and even she managed to have her own brand of chocolate chip cookies, the best in the world, I have to say."

When they heard that, everyone started cheering for Ruby again. While she only kept that smile on her face.

"As Headmaster of this Academy I could not feel more proud." Ozpin stated. "And now, her teammates will say a few words."

That was when Ozpin first gave Weiss the microphone, she took a few steps forward and cleared her throat.

"I still remember when I met Ruby, unfortunately I didn't make a good first impression. I was grumpy and an ice queen with her, but now she's like the sister I always wanted." Weiss said in a calm but gentle tone, while wiping a tear.

Then the next was Blake, who was a little more sentimental about it.

"I remember that the first time I talked to Ruby I had told him that the heroes did not exist, and that I should not think of such childish things, but I am glad that I was wrong, because Ruby is the proof that anyone can be a hero." Expressed Blake, with a smile, as tears fell down her cheeks.

So the next and last person to take the microphone to speak was Yang.

"My cute little sister! There are no words to describe how proud I am, although I'm a stupid blonde with big breasts you have always been more beautiful, charismatic and stronger than me." Yang said, with a big smile and a fairly simple tone, as if she were a doll.

But despite everything, all the students applauded and cheered the words of those three girls.

"Girls, I really appreciate it, it makes me happy to be your leader." Ruby said, while wiping away a couple of tears she shed when she heard those words.

By that time Ozpin had the microphone again. "For last, Ruby, we have a surprise for you. Look to your right."

At that time the students' voices decreased, and there was almost silence. Ruby heeded what the Headmaster said and turned to see her right side. That was when Ruby saw a cardboard box under a light. With an expression of curiosity on her face, she moved closer to the box.

When Ruby was about to put her hand to open it, something came out of the cardboard box. Ruby for a moment closed her eyes due to a short scare. When she opened her eyes, she finally saw the only person who had not appeared all day.

"Snake?" Ruby asked a little confused.

"Ruby." Snake at that time was wearing a tuxedo, although he also still wore his bandana. In his hands he carried what was a bouquet of roses.

"Uhh w-what is happening?" Ruby asked, confused.

"Today... is the day we'll be together forever." Snake stated, with a smile in his face, and his tone showed to be cheerful, which would be somewhat strange on him.

"W-what do you mean?" To top it off, Ruby soon felt she was wearing some excess of clothes. When she looked down, she noticed that, apparently, she was wearing a long white dress and long white gloves. Then Ruby shouted in disbelief. "W-w-w-what!? Is this a wedding dress!? When did I put it on!?"

"Ruby."

Ruby looked up to see Snake's face, which only showed a big and also confident smile. Ruby on the other hand felt completely nervous, her head was blank and her face was completely flushed. Why was this happening? She wondered.

"Could you please..."

"Y-yes?" Ruby swallowed as she felt her heart beat faster. She knew what Snake was going to ask. But what should she say? Yes or no?

Snake just kept that smile. "Could you wake up right now?"

— l — l — l —

"Ahh!" Ruby woke up completely. She saw her surroundings and noticed that she was in her bed. Seeing through the window she noticed that it was still dark outside. Ruby saw her teammates, who still slept peacefully.

"It was just a dream." Ruby said, letting out or sigh. On one hand, she was relieved that it was only a dream. Although a small part of her liked that dream and what she saw. Be treated like a hero, and then Snake...

Ruby quickly shook her head, trying to erase that blush from her face. But then, after thinking about what she dreamed, Ruby began to ask herself a rather serious question while trying to sleep. Ruby knew that sometimes she had to differentiate reality from dreams, but then she wondered...

"What if I had my own brand of cookies...?"

It seemed that dreams would only stay as dreams.

... or maybe not?
