~Chapter 12 Amara~
I teleport Jack and I into a nice suite at a hotel somewhere in Bora Bora. Jack keeps talking, rambling on and saying things about candy and babies. I look at my phone, expecting a call from Carter anytime now with an update on the babies.
"Do you think he took any of my candy?" I hear Jack talking but I don't comprehend what he is saying.
"What?" I ask, putting my phone in the pocket of my jeans.
"I said, Do you think Helen took any of my candy?" I roll my eyes.
"If he did, it's okay, I'll get some more,"
"But it's not the same I ne-," I cover his mouth with my hand and hold the back of his neck with my other hand so he can't get away.
"If I move my hand and you continue talking about candy, we are going to have an issue." I say with a smirk on my face, knowing he's not going to shut up about the candy. I move my hand and almost instantly he starts talking again. I growl, push him onto the bed, and straddle him. I lean down,"What did I tell you?" I whisper in his ear, he shivers.
"You said not to talk about the candy anymore." He says his voice shakes a little.
"That's right, but you did anyway, didn't you?" I ask and kiss the side of his neck before nipping at it softly. He gasps and nods his head yes. I start to kiss up his neck, working my way to his mouth, right as I'm about to kiss him I smirk and pull away. He tries to sit up but I put a hand on his chest, keeping him where he is. I look down at him, his breathing is uneven and his cheeks are flushed red. I'm pulled out of my thoughts by the sound of my phone ringing, I pull it out of my pocket, still straddling him. I see Carter's name on the screen, and I answer the phone,"Hey Carter, how's it going?"
"Pretty good, the babies have eaten, had a bath, and are now sleeping." I start to say something when Jack smirks at me and grabs my hips. I shriek as he flips us to where my back is laying on the bed and he's on top of me in between my legs. I hear Carter shout my name through the phone, Jack snatches the phone out of my hand.
"Sorry, Carter, Amara can't talk on the phone right now." He says and hangs up on her, then tosses my phone on the nearest chair. I giggle, use his shirt to pull him down, and kiss him. He kisses me back, one of my hands is resting on the side of his neck and the other finds its way into his hair, deepening the kiss. He pushes my shirt up a little, I take the hint and pull away so he can take my shirt off. I go to pull him back down to me when he takes both my wrists in one hand and pins them above my head, after a few seconds he moves his hand from my wrists. I try to move but I can't, it still feels like my wrists are being held down. I glare up at him and he just smirks.
"It's what you get for being a tease." he says tracing my bare side with his fingertips, making me shudder.
~Carter~
Amara squeals into the phone, "Amara!" The phone rustles for a second.
"Sorry, Carter, Amara can't talk on the phone right now." Jack says and hangs up on me. I roll my eyes and toss the phone I stole onto the couch. Emma and Phoenix are sitting in the middle of the living room floor as Sally braids Emma's hair and Ben is sitting in front of the TV playing Ocarina of Time. I study the way Ben is sitting. He has his knees up to his chest, a McDonalds cup wedged between his knees and the straw tucked between his lips and he's slouched over eyes wide staring at the screen. I place my hands on my stomach. My heart drops a little as a small movement hits the palm of my hand, before I can react, Ben yells and the babies screech. I look up and see a pale, almost grey hand sticking out of the TV. Sally stares at the TV wide eyed before picking up the twins and holding them in her lap and Ben scoots backwards until his back hits the couch. Soon another hand pops out of the TV, after a minute there's a guy standing in front of the TV. He looks like Ben except he's a little taller, paller, his hair is grey, his clothes are monotone black and white, and his eyes are red.
"What the hell Dark!" Ben shouts and throws the empty McDonalds cup at him. Sally continues braiding Emma's long black hair and Ben blushes when this Dark person leans in close to him and whispers.
"He's not here. Check Miami." The monotone kid laughs before walking over to me and places a finger on my phone screen, "Pleasure to meet you, Carter." He says in a deep sensual voice before disappearing into my phone.
"I'm kinda tired of these weirdos coming out of nowhere." I plop onto the couch, a sharp pain spikes in my side. "Braxton Hicks." I say as Helen appears next to me. The sharp pain turns to just a numb tingling feeling so I relax and lean my head back. I feel a small weight on my lap and when I look down I'm surprised to see Emma staring at me intensely, "What?" I lift her onto my chest, her little arms wrap around my neck.
"Mmmmm." I smirk at the cute little humming that she vibrates through her little body. She lets me go and plops back onto my lap, "Mmm." The way she moves her mouth makes me realize that she's trying to say something, "Mmmm." Fear hits me hard.
"No, no! Don't talk!" I quickly dial Amara's number but it goes straight to voicemail. I dial again and this time she answers.
"Ouch! Stop." The sound of somebody getting smacked fills my ear.
"Make your child stop trying to talk!" Amara screams into the phone.
"SPEAKER SPEAKER SPEAKER SPEAKER-!" I put her on speakerphone.
"Okay!" I look at Emma and smile, "Talk Emma." I say to her gently. And I'll be re-damned if that baby didn't give me a look that totally said "WTF! You just told me not to!" I give her a weird look, "This child is gonna kill me one day." I tell Amara. Emma's glare turns to a cute little smile as she lets out a giggle.
"Mmmm." Over the phone Amara coos to her.
"Come on, baby." Emma looks at the phone shocked.
"Mmmm...Mama!" Emma says bouncing a little bit.
"GOOD JOB EMMA!" Amara shouts, then the phone goes silent for a second, "HAHA BITCH SHE SAID MAMA FIRST!" she yells at Jack before hanging up the phone. I roll my eyes before looking down at the ground where Phoenix is, he looks at me and grins. I smile, look away for one second and, BOOM somehow Emma and Phoenix are both in my lap. I look over at Helen, who is staring at the babies.
"Did they just teleport?" he asks slowly, still watching them carefully.
"I think they did….what do we do?" I ask in almost a whisper not wanting to do anything to startel the babies, who are watching us talk. Helen shrugs his shoulders, I sigh and hold the babies tight as I stand up.
"Where are you going?" He asks watching me struggle to hold the two babies, being pregnant and all.
"I'm taking them to Slendy, he will know what to do." I walk towards his office and the babies continue to make little sounds here and there. I kick the office door, "HEY ASSHAT, YOUR GRANDCHILDREN HAVE POWERS AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DOOO," I yell, the door opens, the babies make happy sounds and reach their little arms up to Slendy. He takes them from me and they smile.
"Of course they do, they are strong like their mother and father, and they will only get more powerful as they get older." He says watching the way the babies interact with each other, "We will have to teach them how to use and control their powers," I nod my head, I look over and there is a painting floating in the middle of the hallway. suddenly it goes flying to the end of the hall until it smashes into the wall. The babies laugh and I look up wide eyed at Slendy.
"HOW DO YOU CONTROL THAT!" I say throwing my hands in the air. I watch as he places a finger onto the middle of their foreheads. Their eyes close and soon after little snores come from them.
"They will wake once a day for feeding and baths until Amara and Jack get back." I take the babies from him sighing.
"Thanks. Okay, I'll let you get back to Jeff." Slendy's face turns red as Jeff stands from behind the desk.
"How did you know I was there!?" I smile and point to my head.
"I see everything." I close the door and walk to the babies room to put them in bed. Once they've been tucked in I head back downstairs and plop on the couch next to Helen.
"Kids are exhausting." I lean my head back and close my eyes, "You know, you remind me of my brother. Well before I killed him, like when we were little. He was never around when Dad would hurt me. I would tell him that some kids at school were bullying me... thought Dad was the good guy and Dad convinced him that I killed Mom. He also taught Mark to do bad things to me when I was really young...I didn't hate Mark when I killed him, I only did it because he saw who I was and he would have told the police." I sit up more and look at him, "I can't remember much from my past, just bits here and there." Helen nods his head.
"Yeah, I know the feeling. I lost some but not all of them. I had some dreams that I figure were memories and mine are all back now. I taught myself how to trigger them, do you want me to teach you?" I nod my head quickly and attempt to stand up.
"I need help." Helen chuckles and pulls me from the couch, "Thanks! Let's go!" I grip Helen's sleeve in my hand and drag him up the stairs behind me.
"Where are you going?!" Ben shouts after us.
"Bed!" Helen shouts back. Once we get to my room I flop into the middle of the bed.
"Okay, trigger away." Helen kneels next to me on the bed and places a finger between my eyes.
"Close your eyes and imagine someone from your past. That should trigger some memories." I close my eyes and imagine my father and brother. Helen takes his finger away for a second before placing it back on, this time it's warm and slick. The smell of blood hits me as sleep overcomes me.
~Amara~
It's been almost 2 weeks since Jack and I left. I stare up at the sunset, the sky is a bright orange, which makes the clouds look like they are tinted pink. I'm standing on the balcony that is connected to the suite Jack and I have been staying in. I watch the waves crash into the shore, when I feel arms wrap around my waist. I smile and lean back into Jack, I can't remember the last time I felt this relaxed.
"How do you think Carter is doing with the kids?" I ask softly, closing my eyes wanting to savor the feeling of the sun on my skin.
"When she called this morning, it sounded like things were going good, and your dad took care of the powers thing so she doesn't have to deal with it" I sigh remembering something, I open my eyes and turn so I can look at Jack.
"My sister's death anniversary is in a couple days." Jack looks down at the ground.
"We're heading back tomorrow so why not just go now. Give us time to settle back in with the kids." I nod and start putting my stuff back in my bag. After we pack up, I take hold of Jack's hand and teleport us back to the house. Jack opens the door and closes it behind us. I take the bags upstairs, Jack following behind me. As soon as I open the bedroom door I hear Emma and Phoenix making happy little noises. They are standing up, holding on to the crib railings, I drop the bags on the floor and walk over to the crib.
"How are my babies?" I coo softly before picking up Emma then Phoenix. As soon as Emma sees Jack she reaches her arms out to him.
"Dada!" Emma squeals kicking her little feet, Jack smiles and takes Emma from me, bouncing her softly. She giggles and holds onto him, I feel sadness start to creep up on me, wishing my sister was here to see my kids...she would love them. I look at Phoenix who is holding onto my shirt and he smiles at me before making a weird face.
"You okay?" I ask softly rubbing the babies back softly. He scrunches his nose then hiccups and vanishes from my arms. My eyes widen and I look over at Jack, "Umm, our son just vanished." We look at each other for a few seconds, when I hear a soft cry come from Jack and I's bed. I look over past the crib and see Phoenix laying on the bed, hiccuping still. I pick him up and rock him softly, his hiccups fade away after a bit and he falls asleep in my arms. As I lay him in the crib the door to my room opens and Ben walks in.
"Amara, there's something I think you should see." I look over at Ben then to Jack.
"It's okay, i've got them." Jack says, I nod and kiss his cheek before following Ben downstairs. I see Helen standing in front of the door holding a girl with long light brown hair, she's covered in mud and looks like she's passed out. I stand there staring at them in shock.
"No, this isn't real….I watched her die." I say, it feels like the breath has been knocked out of me.
"Oh it's real, I went looking for Carter and she attacked me. I hit her over the head with a rock so she wouldn't, oh I don't know, kill me!" I look over June, she's got mud all over her, it looks like she hasn't eaten in months, and she's very pale. I walk up to Helen and take June out of his arms, before taking her to the infirmary. I kick the door open, I see dad sitting at the desk looking through files of some sort. He looks(?) up at me and puts the file down when he notices June in my arms.
"What happened?" He asks, getting up and walking over to me.
"She attacked Helen, so he knocked her out and brought her back here." I say, my voice shaking a little bit. He takes her from my arms and lays her on the nearest bed. I stay standing where I am watching him hook her up to machines, I feel like I can't move.
"You should go, be with Jack and your kids, I'll get you when she wakes up." He says looking back at me, I nod, turn around, and leave the room. I go up to Sally's room, not wanting to wake the babies, and open her door. She's sitting on the floor by her doll house playing with toys. I shut the door and walk into the room. When she turns to me she gets a big smile on her face.
"MOMMY!" She squeals, I smile and go and sit by her. She crawls into my lap and I hold her. I spend the rest of the day with Sally and eventually Jack and the twins join us. I look over and see Sally showing the twins how to brush the dolls hair and how to take care of them, I then glance over at Jack who is sitting next to me.
"Helen was out looking for Carter today...June attacked him...she's alive." I say, pushing a piece of hair out of my face. Before Jack has the chance to say anything Sally's door opens and Jeff is standing there holding baby Hyde.
"Slendy sent me, he said to tell you she's awake." He says, I kiss Jack on the cheek, get up, and follow Jeff downstairs. When we get to the bottom of the steps I hear a commotion coming from the infirmary. When I open the door I see Jeff trying to hold June down.
"Let go of me you freak!" June yells and struggles against Jeff's grip. I rush over to Jeff.
"Go get dad, i'll take care of her." He nods and I take his place. Almost immediately June stops struggling and stares at me wide eyed, "June, it's me, it's your sister." I say, I pause for a second.
"Where am I, where's mom?" She asks. I sigh, I hoped she would remember so i wouldn't have to tell her.
"Mom wasn't a good person, she was abusing us, so I had her killed." I watch her face go from confused to horrified. She tries to move away from me but I hold her in place on the bed.
"Get away from me." She says softly at first, tears rolling down her cheeks, "I said get away!" She yells and starts trying to pull away from me. She manages to get a hand free and she pushes me back. I growl and she gets out of the bed and tries to get past me, I roll my eyes and tackle her to the ground.
"I love you, June, but you aren't going anywhere." I say holding her there, she's screaming and crying. Out of nowhere dad shows up with a syringe in his hand before giving her a shot in the thigh. She calms down and her eyes slowly close.
"There, she'll be out for a few hours, and should be calmer when she wakes." He says looking down at us. I get off of her and put her back in the bed.
"Thanks for that," I say, watching June breath,"Is this even real?" I ask softly knowing she was dead the last time I saw her.
"Yes, it is, I'm just not sure how." Dad says, he puts a hand on my shoulder and I take Junes hand and sit on a chair by the bed.
~Carter~
Once I've woken up something stirs inside me. Helen is still sitting beside me with a blank look on his face.
"Wow." I get off the bed and shove him away from me.
"Don't touch me." I mumble as I leave my room, go down the stairs, and leave the house. I walk for a while, the sun starts going down, but I keep walking until I come to a house. The lights are all off but I can sense people inside. I go around and climb up to a window. It's unlocked. I slide open the window and step inside. I see a girl, about the same age as me, asleep in her bed. I walk quietly over to her and slide into the bed behind her. The girl stirs and turns around. Her eyes open with a confused look, I watch as her eyes widen. I cover her mouth and flip us around so that I'm on top of her. The hand that's not covering her mouth goes to her neck. I squeeze her throat as she kicks and claws at me. I don't stop until she stops moving and I can no longer feel the thump of her pulse under my hand. I let the girl go. My head pounds with anger. I forgot my knife at home so I have nothing to burn into her face so instead I take my nail and carve 'Moon' into her cheek. I climb off the girl and go down to her kitchen. I search the cabinets until I find some fried chicken in the back of the fridge. I've just started the microwave when I hear somebody coming down the stairs.
"Kelly?" I turn towards the man as he turns on the light.
"Who are you?" I smile and wave at him.
"I'm a friend of Kelly's. She invited me to stay the night. I hope that's okay?" The man nods.
"Of course." His eyes find my stomach.
"Oh." I smile and rub my extended stomach.
"Kelly said it was okay to get some chicken." He nods and his eyes finally leave my stomach.
"Just put the dishes in the sink when you're done. What was your name again?" The knife I had tucked into the back of my pants when I was rading the kitchen pokes me a little so I reach back and pull it out, hiding it behind my back.
"Carter." He nods and turns his back to go back up the stairs but I quickly lunge at him. The knife stabs into the back of his head, his body falls. I use the knife to carve into his face. Just as I've finished the microwave beeps.
"Chicken!" I drop the knife and take the food from the microwave. I sit at the table and begin eating. Once I'm finished I break the plates on the floor and continue on my way. I'm not sure where I'm going but honestly don't care. It's not like somebody will report a pregnant woman walking alone...at night. Shit. I look around just in case somebody has seen me, there's nobody around. I walk for another couple blocks when I stop in front of a house. The lights are on in the house but I sneak around and climb up the side to the window. Once I'm inside I notice it's a baby's room. The sound of a man and a woman talking in the background hits me. I know where I am. I walk to the babies crib and pick him up, "Hey buddy." He opens his eyes and looks at me with a confused expression, "Sweet baby. You know, your daddy is supposed to be dead. I'm sorta happy he's not though because then I wouldn't have you." I hug the baby to my chest and place a kiss on his head before putting him back in the crib. After that I make my way into the hall to the room where the people are talking.
"Why haven't they arrested her yet? She's crazy! What if she and her gang of psychos come for us? She'll kill Alex!" The man shushes the woman.
"She won't hurt Alex." I huff and kick the door open. The girl screams and the man stands from the bed quickly.
"You're right. I won't kill my nephew. Besides...he's still innocent." I look at the girl and roll my eyes, "First Matt and then Mark. Wow. So where's the other baby?" The girl's face goes pale. I ignore the girl and look back at Mark, "Come with me, Mark. Please? I need my big brother." I beg him softly. His eyes make their way to my bulging stomach.
"What happened to you?" Heat flashes in my cheeks.
"You and Dad happened. You helped him abuse me. I don't blame you though cause you were so young." I walk up to him and trace the white scar on his neck where I stabbed him, "I thought I killed you." A tear falls from my eyes. In less than a second Mark had me wrapped in his arms. I notice the girl trying to sneak out of the room, "Just a second." I go to grab the letter opener from the bedside table but Mark beats me to it. He flicks his wrist and the girl falls to the floor, the opener jammed in the back of her head. I smile and step over the body.
"I've got to go, meet me here in an hour there's something I've got to do." Mark stays in place as I run out of the house, down the road, and back into the woods. I finally come to a clearing after running for a while. Inside the clearing is my dad. He's waiting for me like I wanted him to do. I quickly walk up beside him, "Why did you do it?" I ask him. He looks(?) down at me.
"You needed to unleash you powers." I hum and sit on the leaf covered ground.
"So you kidnapped me from my home, took me someplace, and wiped my memory of everyone and everything I love." Dad stays silent, "What do you want with me? Why did my head tell me to come here?" I use my tentacles to raise myself to my feet.
"I needed you to remember who you were. I still need you to. In fact…" He smiles at me and holds out two roses, "The red rose allows you to be granted my undying devotion and your sexual desires. And the Blue flower forfeits your life." Dad pauses and frowns, "If you will not love me, I won't allow you to love another." I huff and cross my arms. He smiles at me and holds out two roses. "The red rose allows you to be granted my undying devotion and your sexual desires. And the Blue flower forfeits your life." Dad pauses and frowns, "If you will not love me, I won't allow you to love another." I smach both his hands away.
"Stop saying that stupid line. I'm tired of it." He holds the roses back up.
"Take one." I bite my lip as I stare at the roses.
"What will happen if I take the red one?" I ask him curiously. He shrugs.
"The red rose allows you to be-." I roll my eyes as I cut him off.
"Granted your undying devotion and your sexual desires...What does that mean though!" Dad moves the red one towards me.
"You will get everything you want, in return you will have all my attention...All of it...The blue one, well you know what will happen." I frown at him.
"Would I have to stay with you if I take the red one?" He shakes his head.
"No, you will live as you wish but whenever I need you then I'll call for you. If you refuse then you die." Without another thought I take the rose...the red one. A stick breaks behind me so I turn my head to look but when I turn back Dad is gone and the rose is no longer an object in my hand, instead it's like a tattoo on my wrist. I hug my arm to my chest and begin walking back to meet up with Mark. When I get back the house is dark except for the bedroom light so I make my way up the stairs only to find Mark sitting in the corner.
"Mark? You ready to go?" I jump as he lets out a growl, "Mark." He turns his head to me, he has blood covering his face, "What happened?" I watch as he stands up, I notice something in his hands, "What are you eating?" Mark steps closer to me and the thing in his arms becomes clear, "Oh my god!" My hands fly to my mouth, trying to keep from throwing up, "How could you!" He drops the small body to the floor, his eyes land on my stomach, "No!" I grab the baseball bat next to the bed and hold it towards him, "Mark! Stop!" My voice shakes in fear for my child as he stalks towards me. With one last growl he leaps at me, everything blacks out but I didn't faint. Fear courses through me and before I know it my vision is back and Mark is dead. Obviously he's dead considering he's torn apart, blood covering myself and the walls. My eyes fall to the dead baby on the floor. Vomit forces itself out of me. There was something wrong with him. That wasn't my brother...or maybe it was. I pick up the baby's body and leave the house. Once I get home I go outback to bury the infant. I place a big rock over the freshly stirred dirt and then make my way into the house. Amara is sitting on the couch with a worried look on her face, "Mara?" She looks up quickly and stands.
"Carter?! What happened?" She grabs at my face and shifts my head around before grabbing my arms and turning them.
"I'm fine." I mumble. Amara's face starts to become blurry before everything goes black.
