Chapter 4: The Search Is On
The Smurfs are missing, and the 16 steamies were out to find them. But while doing that, they had to do their jobs as well. They asked every friend to help find them also(With the exception of some unfriendly ones). Besides searching by rails, some were using other ways to find them, by earth… by water… and by air. They searched near and far… high and low… all around… and they searched every abandoned and hidden spots that they know. But every time they met up, they told each other that they end up having no luck. That made them sad and worried. But no matter every time they fail, they will keep on going. And eventually, they will be together again, with some hope in the horizon.
Meanwhile, at the Dieselworks, things were about to get unpleasant. Inside the works, was an opened-top truck. And inside the truck, was the Smurfs. They were all still asleep. But not for long.
/Dreamy\: "/YAWN\ /GASP\ What? Where am I?"
Dreamy looked around his surroundings. Then, to his surprise, his fellow Smurfs were in the same place as him. He looked around his surroundings again. Then he looked up. He could see that the ceiling was further up top.
/Dreamy\: "What the smurf?!"
Panicking, Dreamy altered his fellow Smurfs.
/Dreamy\: "/Shouting\ WAKE UP! WAKE UP, EVERYSMURF!"
/Handy\: "Huh?"
/Hefty\: "What?"
/Smurfette\: "/YAWN\ What's wrong, Dreamy?"
One by one, as the Smurfs opened their eyes, they were surprised to see each other.
/The Smurfs\: "/Gasping one by one\"
/Clumsy\: "Hey, you're supposed to be with Oliver!"
/Brainy\: "And you're supposed to be with Duck!"
/Grouchy & Vanity\: "You're supposed to be with Edward!"
/Handy & Willing\: "You're supposed to be with James!"
/Smurfette\: "I'm supposed to be with Emily and Molly!"
/The Smurflings\: "We're all supposed to be with our Engine friends!"
Then they all looked around their surroundings.
/Hefty\: "Hey, where are we?!"
/Tuffy\: "This is not Tidmouth Sheds!"
/Tracker\: "What is this place?!"
/Jokey\: "Is this some kind of joke?!"
/Harmony\: "But I'm not smurfing!"
/Farmer\: "Somesmurf, anysmurf, HELP!"
/Diesel\: "/Cackling\"
/Christopher\: "I smurf something!"
/Marco\: "Me too!"
/Diesel\: "/Cackling\"
The Smurfs turned to see where the cackling was coming from. And there, on the ledge, and to their horror, was no other than… Devious Diesel.
/Diesel\: "Hello Smuuuurrrfs."
/The Smurfs\: "/GASP\"
/The Smurflings\: "DIESEL!"
/Hefty\: "I DON'T BELIEVE IT!"
/Handy\: "WE DON'T BELIEVE IT!"
/Clumsy\: "YOU, YOU, YOU SMURFNAPPED US!"
/Diesel 10\: "Actually…"
And there with Diesel, was Diesel 10.
/Diesel 10\: "…it was me."
The way he looks, especially with his mechanical claw, had frighten Smurfette.
/Smurfette\: "AHHHHH! WHO ARE YOU?!"
/Diesel 10\: "Everyone calls me, Diesel 10."
/Jokey\: "What's with the 10?"
/Diesel 10\: "Oh, it sounds good on me."
/Vanity\: "Would you please smurf us where we are?!"
/Diesel 10\: "Why, you're all in the Dieselworks."
/Brainy\: "The Dieselworks?"
/Harmony\: "We never smurf of that."
/Diesel 10\: "Oh come on, it's like the Steamworks! But the opposite."
/Tuffy\: "Peh, who knew."
/Diesel 10\: "/GROWL\"
/Grouchy\: "Now, if you don't mind, smurf us back to our Engine friends!"
/Diesel 10\: "You mean the steamies, but of course. But, on one condition."
/Willing\: "What?"
/Diesel 10\: "Oh, to have a chat with you all, so we can get to know each other. Hmm?"
/Dreamy\: "You can just smurfget it!"
/Jokey\: "Yeah!"
/Farmer\: "Since we resmurf to have a smurf with Diesel…"
/Tracker\: "…we resmurf to have a smurf with you!"
/The Smurflings\: "/Raspberries\"
That made Diesel 10 appalled. But he had something in store for them.
/Diesel 10\: "/Sweetly\ Well then, I have something to say to you all…"
/The Smurfs\: "Hmm?"
/Diesel 10\: "/3-2-1\ /Yelling viciously\ …YOU'RE NOT GOING ANYWHERE UNTIL YOU ALL START COMMUNICATING WITH US DIESELS!"
/The Smurfs\: "/GASP\"
/Sassette\: "The only diesels that we smurf with are Daisy!"
/Slouchy\: "And Mavis!"
/Snappy\: "And Salty!"
/Nat\: "And Philip!
/Diesel 10\: "Ohh, those good-for-nothing goodie-goodies!"
/Smurfette\: "And what do you mean 'us'?!"
/Diesel 10\: "Oh silly me, it's not just Diesel and me who lives here. /Shouting\ Lads, get in here!"
"/Sound of motors running\"
"/Diesels chuckling\"
/The Smurfs\: "/GASP\"
/Diesel 10\: "Smurfs, these are my lads. 'Arry."
/'Arry\: "Hello."
/Diesel 10\: "Bert."
/Bert\: "What's up."
/Diesel 10\: "Den."
/Den\: "Charm."
/Diesel 10\: "And Dart."
/Dart\: "Salutations."
/Norman\: "'Ey, what about me?!"
/Diesel 10\: "Oh, and that's Norman. COVER THE TRUCK!"
Just then, a tarp came in sight, and had covered up the truck with the Smurfs inside.
/Clumsy\: "Hey!"
/Brainy\: "/Breathing hysterically\ I CAN'T SMURF!"
/Diesel 10\: "All of you will take turns on guarding the truck, now take them away!"
And one of the diesels took the truck away with the Smurfs inside.
/Sidney\: "What's going on? Are we having a party?"
/Diesel\: "No, we're not! And there is nothing that concerns you!"
/Sidney\: "Oh, alright."
Just then, Paxton arrived, and he got the flatbed with the diesel parts for Norman.
/Paxton\: "Hello, I'm back! /Sound of brakes applying\ Hmm? Did I miss something here?"
/Diesel\: "No, and there is nothing that concerns you too, Paxton!"
/Paxton\: "Oh. Alright then."
And after that, the diesels went on doing their usual duties.
While the Smurfs all quivered with fear and worries.
Later that day, the 16 steamies were still searching for the Smurfs. Some of them had finished their work, while others did not.
/Thomas\: "/Calling\ Dreamy! Where are you?!"
/Annie\: "/Calling\ Come out, come out, wherever you are!"
/Clarabel\: "/Calling\ Please be heard, dear!"
/Thomas\: "/Sorrowfully\ Oh, I'm getting worried. What if we don't find him and the other Smurfs?"
/Annie\: "Oh, don't worry, Thomas."
/Clarabel\: "We will find him, and the rest of them as well."
/Thomas\: "/Sighing sorrowfully\ /Calling\ Dreamy! Dreamy! /PEEP! PEEP! PEEP!\"
/Diesel\: "/Snickering deviously\"
/A girl\: "Who's Dreamy, mother?"
/A woman\: "Oh, probably a lost pet, darling."
/Edward\: "/Calling\ Handy! Willing! /PEEP! PEEP!\"
/Diesel 10\: "/Deviously\ Hmm-hmm-hmm."
/Henry\: "/Calling\ Nat! Tracker! /PEEP! PEEP!\"
/'Arry\: "/Chuckling\"
/Gordon\: "/Calling\ Hefty! Tuffy! /POOP! POOP!\"
/Bert\: "Heh-heh-heh-heh."
/A woman\: "Who's Hefty?"
/A man\: "Who's Tuffy?"
/James\: "/Calling\ Grouchy! Vanity! /PEEP! PEEP! PEEP!\"
/Den\: "/Giggling\"
/Percy\: "/Calling\ Harmony! Jokey! /PEEP! PEEP! PEEP!\"
/Dart\: "/Tittering\"
/Toby\: "/Calling\ Farmer!"
/Henrietta\: "/Calling\ Make yourself heard, dearie!"
/Hannah\: "You know, if we find this little fellow faster, maybe I should…"
/Henrietta\: "Don't even think about it, sister!"
/Hannah\: "/Unhappily\ Oh alright."
/Toby\: "/Sighing sorrowfully\ /Calling\ Farmer! Answer me! Farmer! /DING! DING! DING-DING! DING! DING!\"
/Paxton\: "Hmm? Farmer?"
/A boy\: "Father, who's Farmer?"
/A man\: "That I don't know, son. That I don't know."
/Duck\: "/Calling\ Clumsy! /PEEP! PEEP!\"
/Sidney\: "Who's Clumsy?"
/Donald\: "/Calling\ Christopher! /PEEP! PEEP!\"
/Douglas\: "/Calling\ Marco! /PEEP! PEEP!\"
/'Arry & Bert\: "/Chuckling\"
/Oliver\: "/Calling\ Brainy! /PEEP! PEEP!\"
/Toad\: "/Calling\ Where are you, Mr. Brainy?!"
/Diesel 10\: "/Snickering deviously\"
/Emily\: "/Calling\ Smurfette! /PEEP! PEEP!\"
/Molly\: "/Calling\ Can you hear us?! /PEEP! PEEP!\"
/Den & Dart\: "/Giggling\"
/Rosie\: "/Calling\ Sassette! /PEEP! PEEP! PEEP!\"
/Diesel\: "/Deviously\ Heh-heh-heh-heh."
/Billy\: "/Calling\ Snappy! /PEEP! PEEP!\"
/Sidney\: "'Ey? Snappy?"
/Flora\: "/Calling\ Slouchy! /DING-DING-DING-DING!\"
/Paxton\: "Slouchy?"
Every time the 16 steamies kept on searching for the Smurfs, they still end up having no luck of finding them. And when it was getting dark, they all met up at Knapford Station and agreed to continue their search party the next day. So they all went to their sheds feeling sad and worried. And even the Fat Controller began to feel sad and worried, not just for the Smurfs, but for his Engines as well.
Nighttime came, and at the Dieselworks, everything went silent. And the diesels were all fast asleep.
But the Smurfs were having trouble of going to sleep. They were all afraid and worried.
/Dreamy\: "Ohh, I can't believe our vacation is ruined by some unsmurfy diesels."
/Handy\: "Well, I bet our Engine friends are out there smurfing for us right now."
/Willing\: "I really hope so."
/Tracker\: "Not right now. I smurfed an owl smurfing, it must be nighttime out here."
/Hefty\: "What if the Engines will never smurf us?"
/Tuffy\: "Yeah, we might be smurfed here forever."
/Grouchy\: "I HATE being smurfed here forever!"
/Vanity\: "Me too."
/Harmony\: "What if I smurf my trumpet so loud that they had to let us smurf?"
/Jokey\: "No, don't do that!"
/Brainy\: "You'll smurf our smurfs!"
/Clumsy\: "Uh, yeah!"
/Christopher\: "Well for one smurf, we don't know how long we'll be smurfed here."
/Marco\: "And how long will it smurf for our Engine friends to smurf us."
/Smurfette\: "/Crying\ Oh, boo-hoo, boo-hoo! I want to be with my girlfriends again!"
/Sassette\: "Sorrowing sparrows, I want my girlfriend."
/Snappy\: "I really want those unsmurfy diesels to let us smurf!"
/Slouchy\: "But you smurf Diesel 10, he won't let us smurf."
/Nat\: "/YAWN\ Well, at least I'm getting sleepy."
/Hefty\: "Me too."
/Handy\: "Me smurf."
/The rest of the Smurfs\: "And us also."
/Dreamy\: "Good night, everysmurf. And let us all hope and pray that our Engine friends do indeed smurf us."
/The other Smurfs\: "Good night, Dreamy."
/Grouchy\: "But there's nothing good about it!"
And one by one, the Smurfs closed their eyes, and they all went unhappily to sleep.
As the stars twinkled and the moon glowed in the nighttime sky, everything on the Island of Sodor went silent. And everybody were all fast asleep.
But though, both the 16 steamies and the Smurfs were all having nightmares of not seeing each other again. But they all still hoped that they will indeed be reunited again as soon as possible. Don't you?
