Chapter 5: Unsmurfy Luck

The next day came, and the 16 steamies continued their search on finding the Smurfs. But it was always been the same, every time they met up and tell each others progress, they end up having no luck of finding them. And they grew more sadder and get even more worried than ever. But little that the steamies did not know, was that Diesel 10 had kidnapped the Smurfs and they were imprisoned at the Dieselworks. But they all figured that they would not go to the Dieselworks because they know that the Smurfs do not want to communicate with the diesels. But eventually, they will find out and they will be reunited again soon enough.

At the Dieselworks, things went bustling than ever.

Norman has finally been repaired and was returned to service.

At a siding, Diesel was taking charge on guarding the opened-top truck, which has a tarp on it. And inside the truck, was indeed the Smurfs. And they all could not take much more of being imprisoned by some diesels who just really want to communicate with them.

Just then, one of the Smurfs exploded.

/Snappy\: "AHH, I can't smurf this anymore!"

/Tuffy\: "Yeah, we gotta smurf out of here!"

/Nat\: "But how?"

/Handy\: "Come on, everysmurf. Let's just smurf down and use our smurfs to smurf of a way for an escape."

/Hefty\: "If we have any."

/Willing\: "But let's smurf for the better."

/Dreamy\: "Ok everysmurf, let's smurf."

So the Smurfs all thought on making their escape. But at last, one of them had an idea.

/Brainy\: "I've got it!"

/Clumsy\: "Golly Brainy, what is it?"

/Brainy\: "This escape will absolsmurfly smurf the smurfs outta those diesels."

/Sassette\: "Eagerly echidnas, I hope it smurfs."

/Brainy\: "Handy, you got your tools?"

/Handy\: "Yep, always."

/Brainy\: "Jokey, you got your surprises?"

/Jokey\: "Hee-hee-hee, as usual."

/Brainy\: "And we're gonna need your annoying trumpet, Harmony."

/Harmony\: "Yes, I knew it!"

/Brainy\: "Ok Smurfs, huddle up."

And the Smurfs began on making their plan.

/Brainy\: "Now, everysmurf got it?"

/The other Smurfs\: "Got it!"

/Brainy\: "But, any questions?"

/The other Smurfs\: "No."

/Brainy\: "Then let's get smurfin'!"

/The other Smurfs\: "Yeah!"

And they all got started on making their escape. And they hoped that the diesels would not be aware of their plan and hoping that their escape will work.

At Knapford Station, everything was hustling and bustling.

The Fat Controller was on the platform looking through his schedule.

Just then, Thomas arrived with his coaches.

The Fat Controller saw him coming. And he could see that Thomas was all sad and worried.

The little blue tank engine came to a stop with a sad wheesh of steam.

/The Fat Controller\: "Oh Thomas, did you find them?"

/Thomas\: "/Sadly\ No Sir, there's still no sign of them."

/The Fat Controller\: "I know you and your friends are worried about them, but I have a railway to run, and the spring holiday rush is still going on."

/Thomas\: "/Sighing sorrowfully\"

/The Fat Controller\: "But like I said, you all can still go search for them while you're working and after you finish them."

/Thomas\: "Yes, I know."

/The Fat Controller\: "Don't worry, I'm sure you and the others will find them."

Thomas just rolled his eyes downward.

The Fat Controller felt sorry for him.

/The Fat Controller\: "I wish you and the others luck, Thomas."

And he walked off to his office.

/Thomas\: "/Sadly\ Ohhh."

/Annie\: "Don't give up hope, Thomas."

/Clarabel\: "We will find them, we just know we will."

/Thomas\: "I know, and we better hurry, time is running out sooner then we think."

And with that, Thomas chuffed sadly away continuing his search of finding the Smurfs.

Meanwhile at the Dieselworks, things were still hustling and bustling.

At the siding, Diesel was still doing his duty of guarding the tarp-covered truck with the Smurfs inside. And little that he did not know was that they were planning on their escape.

And at long last, the Smurfs had finished on making their plan.

/Hefty\: "Smurfy, it's done."

/Smurfette\: "And let's hope that it smurfs."

/Jokey\: "/Giggling\ Those diesels are in for a real smurfy surprise!"

/Harmony\: "I smurf to that!"

/Dreamy\: "Ok, here goes nothing."

One of the Smurfs banged the truck.

"/BANG-BANG-BANG! BANG-BANG-BANG!\"

That caught Diesel's attention.

/Diesel\: "Yes, what is it?"

/Christopher\: "Hello? Who are we smurfing to?"

/Diesel\: "It is I, Diesel."

/Marco\: "Oh Diesel, just the ol' chap we want!"

/Diesel\: "What do you want?"

/Tuffy\: "We smurfed our minds, Diesel."

/Willing\: "Yeah, we want to smurf that chat with you diesels."

/Diesel\: "Really?"

/Sassette\: "Oh, yes."

/Nat\: "We really do."

Diesel wasn't sure.

/Diesel\: "How will we know if we can trust you all?"

/Slouchy\: "Oh, you diesels can smurftainly trust us."

/Snappy\: "We Smurfs never, ever smurf tricks."

/Clumsy\: "Uh, yeah, that's not our thing for us Smurfs."

/Diesel\: "Really? Really and truly?"

/Vanity\: "Oh, yes."

/Dreamy\: "So why don't you gather your friends and smurf us to them."

/Diesel\: "Hmm… oh, alright. Give me a moment."

Diesel moved the truck towards the inside of the Dieselworks.

Diesel 10 was there, on the ledge with the diesel twins, 'Arry & Bert.

/Diesel\: "Gather 'round, lads! The Smurfs are ready to communicate with us!"

/Diesel 10\: "Excellent."

Diesel put the truck on the turntable.

/Diesel 10\: "Remove the tarp."

As the tarp was removed, the diesels saw something that made them confused and curious.

There with the Smurfs, was a big present box.

The diesels were puzzled, especially Diesel 10.

/Diesel 10\: "What's that?"

/Jokey\: "It's a surprise!"

/Harmony\: "For the start of a very smurfy friendship."

/Diesel 10\: "Ooh goody, I like surprises. What's inside?"

/Smurfette\: "Open it and smurf it for yourself."

/Diesel 10\: "Right then. Lower the hook!"

The hook began to lower down. And then it was hooked up to the lid of the box.

/Diesel 10\: "Open the box!"

The Smurfs prepare themselves.

/Brainy\: "Wait for it… Wait for it… Wait for it…"

The box was nearly opened. And suddenly… "/KABOOM!\" The explosion made the diesels jumped.

/Brainy\: "NOW!"

The Smurfs leaped out of the truck.

/Brainy\: "NOW, HARMONY!"

"/Harmony playing the trumpet off-key\"

/'Arry\: "OH!"

/Bert\: "WHAT A HIDEOUS NOISE!"

/Diesel\: "MAKE IT STOP!"

"/Harmony playing the trumpet off-key\"

The Smurfs began making their escape. They ran quickly as they could. Then one of them could see the way out.

/Hefty\: "THERE, THAT'S OUR WAY OUT!"

/Handy\: "HURRY, SMURF FASTER!"

And they kept on running.

Suddenly, Diesel 10 recovered from the explosion. And to his surprise, he could see the Smurfs making their escape.

/Diesel 10\: "WHAT?! LADS, STOP THEM!"

But he could see that the other diesels have not been recovered from the explosion.

/Diesel 10\: "OH, BOTHER!"

The Smurfs were almost at the exit.

/Dreamy\: "COME ON, JUST A LITTLE FURTHER!"

Just then, Paxton appeared. As he was about to leave the Dieselworks, he could see the Smurfs running. He was extremely surprised.

/Paxton\: "'Ey?! What are they?! Who are they?!"

At last, the other diesels recovered.

/Diesel 10\: "QUICK, CLOSE THE GATE!"

One of the diesels did as Diesel 10 told. And the gate began to close in a fast pace.

And to their horror, the Smurfs could see gate closing them in.

/Smurfette\: "OH NO!"

/Dreamy\: "HURRY, HURRY!"

The gate was nearly closed.

/Handy\: "WE'RE NOT GONNA MAKE IT!"

And suddenly, to their horror, the gate was closed.

/Clumsy\: "OH NO!"

/Brainy\: "WE'RE SMURFED!"

And they are indeed.

"/Sound of a diesel approaching\"

/The Smurfs\: "/GASP\"

There right in front of the Smurfs, was Diesel 10.

/Diesel 10\: "DO YOU SMURFS REALLY THINK THAT YOU CAN ESCAPE FROM US?!"

/Clumsy\: "Uh, yeah?"

/Diesel 10\: "WELL NICE TRY!"

/Grouchy\: "/Quivering\"

/Diesel 10\: "And just for that, you Smurfs are going to stay here, FOREVER!"

/Vanity\: "But we need to go home!"

/Diesel 10\: "Well you all should've thought of that earlier when you try to escape!"

And with that, Diesel 10 swooped down his claw, and gobbled up the Smurfs.

/The Smurfs\: "AHHHH!"

/Willing\: "HEY!"

/Tuffy\: "LET US OUT OF HERE!"

/Diesel 10\: "TOO LATE! Bring out the truck!"

Diesel brought out the opened-top truck.

And then, Diesel 10 opened his claw's mouth, and the Smurfs were dumped in.

/The Smurfs\: "AHHHH!"

/Diesel 10\: "Bring me the tarp!"

Norman brought the out the tarp.

And with that, Diesel 10 got tarp, and he covered up the truck.

/Diesel 10\: "Norman, it's your turn to guard the truck."

/Norman\: "Right, boss."

Paxton was still surprised to see the commotion.

/Paxton\: "What are those little blue lively things?!"

/Diesel 10\: "If you must know, they're Smurfs. And they're going to be with us for an awfully long time."

And Diesel 10 oiled back inside the Dieselworks.

/Paxton\: "Smurfs? How come I never heard of them?"

But Paxton simply let it go. And as he was moving, he could see that the gate was closed.

/Paxton\: "/Shouting\ Umm, could someone open the gate please?! I have some things to do!"

/Diesel 10\: "Oh, right. Open the gate!"

And the gate began to open.

And after that, Paxton motored away.

Later that day, Paxton was trundling along the main line. He could see Maron Station up ahead.

And there at the platform, was Thomas and his coaches. He was doing a local run.

/Paxton\: "Hello Thomas."

/Thomas\: "/Unhappily\ Oh, hello Paxton."

Paxton could see that Thomas was not happy.

/Paxton\: "Is something wrong?"

/Thomas\: "Yes, there is something wrong."

/Paxton\: "What is it then?"

/Thomas\: "Oh, I don't want to talk about it."

/Paxton\: "Ohhh, can you at least tell me?"

/Thomas\: "Well, let me just say that me and my friends are looking for some missing special friends of ours."

/Paxton\: "Oh, dear."

/Thomas\: "Yes, and I'm afraid that our time is almost up."

/Paxton\: "That's awful."

/Thomas\: "It is. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to finish my work and go straight home. See you later, Paxton."

And with a sad wheesh of steam, Thomas chuffed sadly away to Tidmouth Sheds.

/Paxton\: "Hmm, what special friends are they looking for?"

Then Paxton had a thought.

/Paxton\: "Maybe I can help!"

And he motored off to follow Thomas.

Paxton secretly followed Thomas all the way to Tidmouth Sheds. When he got there, he could see the other steamies were there as well. So Paxton decided to keep himself out of sight and began to listen to their conversation.

The 16 steamies were exhausted.

/Thomas\: "Did any of you all have any luck?"

/Percy\: "No."

/James\: "Not at all."

/Emily\: "There's still no sign of them."

/Thomas\: "Then we had to face it, the Smurfs are gone for good."

/Paxton\: "/GASP\"

Paxton could not believe it. The steamies' special friends, were actually the Smurfs. So he kept listening on their conversation.

/Edward\: "Oh dear, what if Papa Smurf finds out about that?"

/Henry\: "He will be very sad."

/Gordon\: "Oh, the indignity."

/Molly\: "Well, he has to take the sad news."

/Toby\: "I don't feel like working anymore."

/Thomas\: "But we had to, Toby."

/Duck\: "The spring holiday rush is still going on."

/Oliver\: "And we can't let the Fat Controller down."

/Donald\: "Not to mention getting him cross."

/Douglas\: "Aye to that, me brother."

/Rosie\: "I really miss them so much."

/Billy\: "Me too."

/Flora\: "Me three."

/Thomas\: "And so my friends, let us all share our grieve, and remember the fun things that we had with our little blue friends. Moment of silence, please."

And they all began their grieving.

Paxton felt sorry for the steamies. And he could see that they really miss the Smurfs so much. But Paxton already know where the Smurfs are, they were kept imprisoned at the Dieselworks. So he thought of a plan and knew exactly what he had to do. And with that, he dashed quickly to Dieselworks, hoping that his plan will work.
