Chapter 6: Reunited And Discipline

It was dusk, and things on the Island of Sodor were turning down for the day. But even though, there was little activity going on the Fat Controller's railway. Some of the Engines were doing nighttime jobs, and things were needed to get done before the day was officially over.

At the Dieselworks, things were almost getting done.

Just then, Paxton arrived. As he entered inside, he could see that the other diesels were all gathered up.

Diesel 10 was giving out the task of guarding the Smurfs.

/Diesel 10\: "So, who's next to guard the Smurfs?"

/Den\: "Not me."

/Dart\: "Not me either."

/'Arry\: "I'm busy tonight."

/Bert\: "Me too."

/Diesel 10\: "Well I'm not going to give that task to Sidney, he's too forgetful. And Diesel and Norman have had their turn."

Paxton saw the chance to it. So he built up his courage and hoped that no one will get suspicious.

/Paxton\: "/Clearing throat\ Right, I'll do it!"

/The other diesels\: "/GASP\"

/Diesel 10\: "You, Paxton?"

/Paxton\: "/Sternly\ Yes! You got a problem with that?!"

The other diesels were surprised.

/Diesel 10\: "Are you sure you're up to it?"

/Paxton\: "Of course I can, and I can show you all on what a good job that I've done!"

The other diesels looked at each other in amazement.

Diesel 10 wasn't sure. But then, he made up his mind.

/Diesel 10\: "Very well, get on with it."

Paxton was relieved that Diesel 10 believed him.

Nighttime came, and everything at the Dieselworks went silent.

Paxton was now doing his duty of guarding the opened-top truck with the Smurfs inside. But then, he began to feel sleepy.

/Paxton\: "/YAWN\"

So he decided to sleep, and he will carry on his plan in the morning.

Meanwhile, inside the truck, the Smurfs were still awake. And they all began to face the fact.

/Dreamy\: "Well everysmurf, guess we have to smurf it."

/Handy\: "Thomas and his friends will never smurf us."

/Willing\: "And Papa Smurf will be worried."

/Tracker\: "And we're almost out of our food."

/Hefty\: "Maybe we can try our escape tomorrow."

/Tuffy\: "Aww, what's the use. Diesel 10 will just smurf us again."

/Grouchy\: "Not only that I HATE Diesel, I HATE Diesel 10 as well!"

/Vanity\: "And being smurfed in here forever will really ruin my complexion!"

/Harmony\: "Well, at least we have each other."

/Jokey\: "And that's no joke."

/Clumsy\: "I already miss the other Smurfs."

/Brainy\: "But our vacation isn't over yet, Clumsy."

/Christopher\: "And I can't believe that our vacation will be smurfed, just like that."

/Marco\: "Oh, smurf is me, or us."

/Smurfette\: "/Crying\ Oh boo-hoo, boo-hoo! I'll never smurf my stuff again!"

/Sassette\: "Hoping hippos, I hope a miracle with smurf."

/Slouchy\: "We're gonna need more than a miracle."

/Snappy\: "We're gonna need a big smurfgantic miracle."

/Nat\: "And I still smurf that we cannot smurf hope."

/Dreamy\: "I still smurf that, Nat. I still smurf that."

And they all went silent for a moment.

/Dreamy\: "Well, let's just smurf some sleep, and hope for the best. Smurfy dreams, everysmurf."

/Grouchy\: "Or unsmurfy ones!"

And they all went unhappily to sleep.

It was dawn, and the sun was beginning to rise. But everyone on the island was still asleep. And getting up too early will be very tiring. But except for one.

At the Dieselworks, everything was still silent.

But at last…

/Paxton\: "/YAWN\"

Paxton woke up in the nick of time. He checked his surroundings, and he could see that the diesels were still asleep. Paxton's chance had come.

But just as he was to say something, he heard something.

/The Smurfs\: "/Snoring\"

He could hear that the Smurfs were still asleep.

Paxton thinks that there was no time left and had to do something. So he woke up the Smurfs by giving the truck a jolt. "/JOLT!\" That did the trick.

/The Smurfs\: "/Snorting\"

/Hefty\: "Huh? What?"

/Handy\: "What's smurfing on?"

/Snappy\: "Some of us are still smurfing!"

/Paxton\: "Umm, hello? Are you all awake?"

/Tuffy\: "Yeah, no thanks to you!"

/Willing\: "Are you one of the diesels?"

/Paxton\: "Umm, yes."

/Grouchy\: "If you're asking for a smurf, the answer is still no!"

/Paxton\: "What?"

/Brainy\: "He means a chat!"

/Paxton\: "Oh. Actually no, I don't want to have a chat."

/Clumsy\: "No?"

/Vanity\: "Then what is it?"

/Paxton\: "I'm going to take you all back to the steamies."

/Smurfette\: "You mean Thomas and his friends?"

/Paxton\: "Yes."

The Smurfs couldn't believe on what they were hearing.

/Dreamy\: "Are you really?"

/Paxton\: "Yes."

But the Smurfs were not sure.

/Marco\: "Smurf us your name."

/Paxton\: "It's Paxton."

/Christopher\: "Well Paxton, how will we know if we can trust you?"

/Paxton\: "Oh, you all can definitely trust me, I'm a very nice diesel engine."

/Slouchy\: "Like Daisy, Mavis, Salty, and Philip?"

/Paxton\: "Yes, and I like the steamies as well."

But the Smurfs were still not sure. But one of them believed Paxton.

/Sassette\: "I think we should believe him."

/Nat\: "Since he smurfed that he's gonna smurf us to Thomas and his friends."

/Harmony\: "And that's our big smurfgantic miracle!"

/Jokey\: "And it's no joke."

So the Smurfs all agreed to accepted Paxton's generosity.

/Dreamy\: "Ok Paxton, we acsmurf."

/Grouchy\: "But no tricks, I HATE tricks!"

/Paxton\: "Oh don't worry, you all have my honor."

So Paxton brought the truck to the inside of the Dieselworks. And with a hook, the tarp was removed.

The Smurfs were joyful.

/Vanity\: "FREEDOM!"

/Paxton\: "SHHHH!"

/Vanity\: "Oh, sorry."

/Paxton\: "Hop into my cab, Smurfs."

And the Smurfs did what Paxton said.

Paxton then put the truck back to the siding. And after that, he dashed off to Tidmouth Sheds with the Smurfs aboard to get them reunited with Thomas and his friends.

Meanwhile, at Tidmouth Sheds, Thomas and his friends were all gathered up. They were all waiting for their job assignments. But even though, they were all still in grieve. They all have failed of finding the Smurfs. And above all, they wished that the little blue tykes were never went missing in the first place and they would just appear in an instant.

Just then, Paxton arrived. As he got there, he could see that the steamies were still in grieve. But he knows exactly what to do to cheer them up.

/Paxton\: "/TOOT! TOOT!\ Good morning, all!"

But the steamies were not in the mood.

/Thomas\: "Paxton, now it's not the right time."

/Paxton\: "Ohh, can you all at least hear me out?"

/Gordon\: "/SIGH\ What is it?"

/Paxton\: "I have a special delivery for all of you!"

/James\: "A special delivery?"

/Percy\: "No one told us that."

/Emily\: "What's the special delivery?"

/Paxton\: "Oh trust me, you all will like this."

Then suddenly, the Smurfs appeared out of Paxton's cab.

/The Smurfs\: "SURPRISE!"

/The steamies\: "/Gasping\"

/Thomas\: "Smurfs?!"

/James\: "We don't believe it!"

/Percy\: "You all are alright!"

/Emily\: "Unbelievable!"

/The rest of the steamies\: "HOORAY!"

And the Smurfs went up to their steam engine friends. It was indeed a happy reunion.

/Henry\: "Oh, we were so worried!"

/Edward\: "We been searching the whole island for all of you!"

/Molly\: "What happen to you all?!"

/Sassette\: "We were smurfnapped!"

/Snappy\: "By Diesel 10!"

/The steamies\: "/Gasping\"

/Gordon\: "IIIIIII knew it!"

/James\: "I should've known!"

/The rest of the steamies\: "We all should've known!"

/Thomas\: "So what happen after that?"

/Clumsy\: "He smurfed us to the Dieselworks!"

/Brainy\: "And he smurfed us prisoned there!"

/Rosie\: "Oh, me!"

/Billy\: "Oh, my!"

/Flora\: "Oh, dear!"

/Vanity\: "He wanted the same thing like Diesel!"

/Grouchy\: "But we refuse!"

/Handy\: "So we tried to escape!"

/Hefty\: "But it didn't work!"

/Smufette\: "And Diesel 10 smurfened that we be smurfed in the Dieselworks forever!"

/The steamies\: "/Gasping\"

/Slouchy\: "But thanks to Paxton, he was very smurfy to smurf all of us to all of you!"

/Nat\: "Yeah, you all should really smurf him!"

And the steamies agreed.

/Duck\: "Thank you, Paxton."

/Oliver\: "How can we ever repay you."

/Donald\: "Aye, you're a goodie."

/Douglas\: "Indeed to that."

All Paxton could do was just smile and blush.

But Thomas was cross.

/Thomas\: "I think we steamies should have a chat with Diesel 10."

/Willing\: "But how?"

/Tuffy\: "Yeah, we think that he will never listen to all you steam engines."

/Thomas\: "You're right, Smurfs. But we know someone who can."

The Smurfs all looked at each other in confusion. But then they all figured out who Thomas meant.

/Jokey\: "Oooh, they're gonna get it! Hyuk-hyuk-hyuk!"

/Harmony\: "Tee-hee, I smurf to that!"

/Dreamy\: "Just wait until we smurf the look on their faces!"

/Christopher & Marco\: "High smurf! HA-HA-HA-HA!"

/Tracker\: "Jolly smurf!"

/Farmer\: "Smurfy!"

/Toby\: "Indeed."

And the steamies and the Smurfs all waited for the certain someone to arrive.

At the Dieselworks, things were starting to hustle and bustle. And the diesels were getting ready to start their day.

Diesel 10 was up on the ledge with 'Arry and Bert.

Just then, Norman came in. And he looked worried.

That caught Diesel 10's attention.

/Diesel 10\: "What's the matter, Norman?"

/Norman\: "Boss, Paxton is not at the siding!"

/'Arry\: "What?!"

/Bert\: "Where can he be?!"

/Diesel 10\: "Oh, he probably has some work to do. Is that truck still there?"

/Norman\: "Yes."

/Diesel 10\: "Then bring it in, I want to see that the Smurfs are still inside."

So one of the diesels brought in the opened-top truck.

/Diesel 10\: "Remove the tarp."

As the tarp was removed, the diesels were shockingly surprised.

/The diesels\: "/Gasping\"

The truck has nothing but hay. The Smurfs were gone.

/Diesel\: "WHAT?!"

/Den\: "Unbelievable!"

/Dart\: "What he means is, the Smurfs are gone!"

/Diesel 10\: "I can see that, you ninnies!"

/Bert\: "How can this be?!"

/'Arry\: "What are we going to do?!"

/Diesel 10\: "Go search for them of course, now come on!"

But just as they were about to leave the Dieselworks, the diesels came to a halt. "/Sound of brakes applying\"

/The diesels\: "/Gasping\"

There coming into the Dieselworks, was Thomas and 15 of his friends. And they all looked very cross and stern.

The diesels were nervously surprised.

/Thomas\: "Going somewhere, Diesel 10?"

/Diesel 10\: "Puffball, what a pleasant surprise. You see, we're about to go, umm… do our jobs."

/Thomas\: "Oh, really?"

/Diesel 10\: "Yes, really. Are we lads?"

"/The other diesels agreeing with Diesel 10\"

/Thomas\: "Hmm. And what jobs are you all going to do?"

/Diesel 10\: "We're going to… You see… Oh, why do you need to know?! We diesels have a very important job to do, right lads?"

/The other diesels\: "Right, boss."

/Diesel 10\: "So there, alright?"

/Thomas\: "Yes, that's quite alright."

/Diesel 10\: "Hmph!"

/Thomas\: "But, about your job. Were you all going to search for… them?"

Then, the Smurfs appeared out of their steamie partners.

/The Smurfs\: "SURPRISE!"

/The Smurflings\: "NA NA NA-NA NA!"

The diesels were shockingly surprised with their lower jaws dropped down.

Paxton hid behind one of the steamies so the other diesels won't see him.

/Paxton\: "/Giggling\"

/Diesel 10\: "Oh! I-I see you found them."

/Thomas\: "Indeed."

/Percy\: "Just admit it, Diesel 10!"

/James\: "You kidnapped… I mean, "smurfnapped" the Smurfs!"

Diesel 10 then couldn't hide his guilt.

/Diesel 10\: "/GROWL\ So what if I did?! It's all the Smurfs' fault, and there's nothing you steamies can do about it!"

/Thomas\: "You're right, Diesel 10. We can't."

/Diesel 10\: "Hmph!"

/Thomas\: "But, we know someone who can."

Then the diesels saw someone that made them gasp.

/The diesels\: "/Gasping\"

There coming out off Thomas' cab, was indeed, the Fat Controller. And he looked very cross and severe.

The diesels began to quiver.

There was silence for a moment. Until…

/The Fat Controller\: "/Booming\ DIESEL 10! OF ALL THE MISCHIEF AND NAUGHTY THINGS THAT YOU BEEN DOING, BUT KIDNAPPING THE SMURFS?! HOW COULD YOU!"

Diesel 10 felt ashamed and stayed silent.

/The Fat Controller\: "DO YOU KNOW HOW WORRIED THOMAS AND HIS FRIENDS WERE?! THEY'VE BEEN LOOKING ALL OVER THE ISLAND FOR THEM LIKE CRAZY!"

Diesel 10 remained silent.

/The Fat Controller\: "But I know there's someone else in this! Who is it?!"

/Diesel\: "It was me, Sir. I lost my temper and ask Diesel 10 to do about it."

/The Fat Controller\: "Then you should be ashamed of yourself too, Diesel!"

Diesel was indeed ashamed.

/The Fat Controller\: "And I can't believe you all are in this as well!"

/The other diesels\: "Sorry, Sir."

/The Fat Controller\: "/Sighing in frustration\"

/Paxton\: "/Snickering\"

The Fat Controller turned to Thomas, his friends, and the Smurfs.

/The Fat Controller\: "Well everyone, what punishment do you all want me to give them?"

/Thomas & Dreamy\: "Hmm…"

But Diesel 10 spoke up.

/Diesel 10\: "Wait, Sir. Before you punish us, we just want to say that we definitely have no intention of harming the Smurfs. We just want to communicate with them, that's all. Am I right, lads?"

"/The other diesels agreeing with Diesel 10\"

/Diesel 10\: "But, they refuse to."

/Diesel\: "And the steamies brought themselves into that situation."

/Diesel 10\: "But we are really sorry."

And the diesels expressed their sincerity by pouting their faces.

The Fat Controller was surprised. He always thinks that the diesels were not that sorry for the things that they have been doing. But this time, they really meant it.

/The Fat Controller\: "Really and honestly? Is that what you all want? To have a conversation with the Smurfs?"

/The diesels\: "Yes Sir."

The Fat Controller thought for a moment. Then he turned to Thomas.

/The Fat Controller\: "Thomas, does it hurt for you and your friends to let the diesel engines have a conversation with the Smurfs?"

/Thomas\: "It's not up to us, Sir. It's up to the Smurfs."

/The Fat Controller\: "Oh, right. Smurfs, would you all be little dears and have a conversation with my diesel engines? I know what they did was wrong, but can you all at least just try? What do you say?"

The Smurfs all paused for a moment. Then they all turned to the diesels. And they could see that they were waiting on what their answer will be. But at last, the Smurfs made their decision.

/Dreamy\: "Oh, alright."

The diesels were joyfully delighted.

/Dreamy\: "But, on one condition."

/The Fat Controller\: "Of course, what is it?"

/Dreamy\: "Let us Smurfs ensmurf our vacation and be with our steam engine friends. And, if the diesel engines can smurf us Smurfs how hard they can smurf, we'll invite them to our home village and have our conversation there."

/The Fat Controller\: "You heard him. And you all should please me as well."

/The diesels\: "Yes Sir, we will, Sir!"

/The Fat Controller\: "Good, now carry on. Oh, and enjoy the rest of your holiday, Smurfs."

/The Smurfs\: "We will, Sir Topham!"

And so that what it is.

And with that, not only the steamies were working hard, but the diesels as well. And they all worked their hardest so they can get the Smurfs' invitation to their home village. And that is something the diesels really like to earn.
