Chapter 7: A Visit From The Diesels
A week has passed, and the spring holiday rush has come to an end on the Island of Sodor. And indeed, the Smurfs had enjoyed their holiday enormously.
And during that week, the diesels had worked their hardest, which it pleases the Fat Controller. And after making great progress, they had earned their reward of going to the Smurfs' village. And just to make sure that nothing goes wrong, the Fat Controller had asked the steamies and the Smurfs to keep an eye on the diesels, and Thomas will pass that on to Papa.
At the Smurf village, the other Smurfs were doing their duties. And when the diesels made their appearance, they were all amazed and awestruck. But, their appearance made the other Smurfs spooked, especially the three elderly Smurfs. Thomas explained everything to Papa, Grandpa, and Nanny. And indeed, they spoke sternly to the diesels that if they do something mischief and naughty, they will be sent back to Sodor immediately. And the diesels had their word. But except for Paxton.
And during their time, the diesels and the Smurfs had started having their conversations, with the steamies joining in as well. Brainy even gave the diesels lessons on how to handle themselves in the Smurfs' time period, and learning the rules, safety, and dangers that go around them, and even the other creatures and the people in their time period.
And the diesels were indeed having a splendid time on their visit to the Smurfs' village.
During the diesels' visit, some things happen to some of them, not bad ones, but good.
This happened to Diesel.
/Paxton\: "Isn't this enchanting?! Us diesels, here in the Smurfs' village! This is out of this world, right Diesel?"
/Diesel\: "Ehh, it's alright. For Smurfs who live in those kinds of houses."
/Paxton\: "Brainy says they're mushrooms."
/Diesel\: "Yes, whatever."
/Paxton\: "/Humming\"
/Baby Smurf\: "/Cooing\"
/Paxton\: "Hmm?"
/Baby Smurf\: "/Cooing\"
/Paxton\: "/GASP\ Look Diesel, a baby!"
/Diesel\: "Hmm?"
/Baby Smurf\: "/Cooing\"
Diesel was amazed.
/Paxton\: "Come on, let's go see him!"
/Diesel\: "Hmph."
The two diesels went up to Baby Smurf. Grouchy was looking after him.
/Paxton\: "Hello."
/Grouchy\: "/In moody tone\ Oh, hello."
/Paxton\: "Mind if we see the baby, please?"
/Grouchy\: "Oh, alright. But I don't think he'll like you."
/Diesel\: "Pah, I bet he'll won't like me."
/Paxton\: "But he'll like me!"
So Grouchy brought Baby Smurf to Diesel and Paxton.
But, something amazing happened. Baby Smurf turned to Diesel.
/Baby Smurf\: "/Cooing\"
Diesel was surprised.
And so was Grouchy.
Then, something amazing happened again. Baby Smurf touched and grabbed Diesel's nose!
/Baby Smurf\: "/Cooing\"
/Paxton\: "/GASP\"
/Grouchy\: "/GASP\"
/Diesel\: "/GASP\"
/Baby Smurf\: "/Cooing\"
/Paxton\: "Uh-oh."
/Grouchy\: "Oh smurf."
But then, something even more amazing happened. Diesel smiled!
/Baby Smurf\: "/Cooing & giggling\"
And he giggled as well.
/Diesel\: "/Giggling\"
Paxton was amazed.
And Grouchy cannot believe on what he was seeing.
/Baby Smurf\: "/Cooing & giggling\"
/Diesel\: "/Giggling\"
And then, Baby Smurf let go of Diesel's nose.
Diesel smiled back at Baby Smurf.
/Grouchy\: "Hmph, you're lucky that Baby likes you, and don't expect that to happen all the time!"
And Grouchy walked off with Baby Smurf.
/Baby Smurf\: "Ba-ba."
/Diesel\: "/Sighing in happiness\"
/Paxton\: "Awe, isn't he adorable, Diesel?"
/Diesel\: "Well, he's alright."
/Paxton\: "Just wait until I tell the others!"
/Diesel\: "If you tell anyone, especially to the steamies, I'll do something devious to you!"
/Paxton\: "/GASP\ Ohhh."
/Diesel\: "That's what I thought! I have a reputation for being rough and tricky, and don't you forget it!"
/Paxton\: "/GULP\"
And with that, Diesel oiled away.
While Paxton went off enjoying his time by going around the village.
Next, this happened to Diesel 10.
Painter was giving Latino's roof a new coat of paint.
But then, there was trouble. The paint was wet and very slippery.
And while not looking where he was going, Painter slipped.
/Painter\: "SACRE-SMURF!"
Painter slid to the edge of Latino's roof.
/Painter\: "AHHHHH!"
And after he stopped sliding, Painter fell off the roof.
Then there was more trouble. After felling off the roof, Painter's pants got caught in the gutter. And he was dangling from the gutter with his pants holding onto him.
/Latino\: "/GASP\"
/Painter\: "AIDEZ MOI! ZOMESMURF HELP ME!
/Latino\: "AY SMURFRAMBA! AUXILIO! HELP! HELP!"
Diesel 10 heard the distress. And he got there in the nick of time.
/Diesel 10\: "Who needs help?!"
/Latino\: "Him!"
/Painter\: "Oui, help me!"
/Diesel 10\: "Hang on, lad! I'll get you down!"
Diesel 10 used his claw to get Painter. The claw's mouth then got onto Painter's pants with the mouth gripping on the French-speaking Smurfs' pants while still dangling. And very gently, Diesel 10 lowered Painter down safely to the ground.
/Latino\: "Ay, smurf mio."
Then Diesel 10 let go of Painter.
/Painter\: "Ummm, mmmm..."
/Latino\: "Errrr, uhhh..."
/Diesel 10\: "Hmm?"
/Painter\: "/SIGH\ Merci."
/Latino\: "Si, garcias."
/Diesel 10\: "What?"
/Latino\: "That means 'thank you' in Spanish."
/Painter\: "And French."
/Diesel 10\: "Oh. You're welcome."
The three just give each other uneasy smiles.
And with that, Diesel 10 motored away.
/Latino\: "Should we be very grateful?"
/Painter\: "Oui, what he did waz very nize."
/Latino\: "Si. But for a diesel engine who was muy dificil and furtivo."
/Painter\: "Oui."
/Latino\: "But still, we should be muy agradecido."
/Painter\: "Oui, he'z ok… for now."
And the two Smurfs walked off to their homes for some free time.
And lastly, this happened to 'Arry and Bert.
Greedy was overwhelmed.
/Greedy\: "/Calling\ Could somesmurf help me?! I need an Engine to smurf me some smurfberries!"
'Arry and Bert heard Greedy and they went up to him.
/'Arry\: "I'll help you, lad."
/Bert\: "I'll help too."
/'Arry\: "Thank you Bert, but he wants me to do it."
/Bert\: "No 'Arry, I'll do it!"
/'Arry\: "No, me!"
/Bert\: "No, me!"
/'Arry\: "Me!"
/Bert\: "Me!"
/'Arry\: "ME!"
/Bert\: "ME!"
/Greedy\: "BOYS, BOYS!"
/'Arry & Bert\: "Hmm?"
/Greedy\: "I think I do need two Engines on this."
/'Arry & Bert\: "Oh, alright."
/'Arry\: "Let's go, Bert."
/Bert\: "Right behind you, 'Arry."
/Greedy\: "/Shouting\ Thanks, and our trucks are at the yard!"
/'Arry & Bert\: "/Shouting\ Thank you, lad!"
And after being coupled up to five trucks, the twin diesel engines oiled off to the smurfberry bushes.
A couple hours later, 'Arry and Bert had returned.
Greedy was amazed. All five trucks were filled with lots and lots of fresh picked smurfberries. He was very grateful.
/Greedy\: "Smurfy, thanks, you two."
/'Arry\: "Don't mention it."
/Bert\: "Glad to help."
/Greedy\: "You both are really smurfy and useful Engines."
/Bert\: "Thank you, lad."
/'Arry\: "That means so much to us."
/Greedy\: "Aw, it was nothing."
And 'Arry and Bert motored away.
Thomas and Dreamy were approved.
/Dreamy\: "Well Thomas, I gotta smurf, this smurfs out to be a very smurfy day."
/Thomas\: "I peep to that, Dreamy."
/Dreamy\: "And at least the diesels smurfhaved well."
/Thomas\: "Indeed they did."
/Dreamy\: "But still, we have to smurf our guard up."
/Thomas\: "Yes, knowing them diesels, they still can do sneaky and tricky things."
/Dreamy\: "Yeah. But still, everything went smurfy."
/Thomas\: "Yes, and exactly."
And so that what it is.
After their visit was over, the diesels thanked the Smurfs for the hospitality, and they and steamies returned to the Island of Sodor. And from time to time, the other diesels had got the chance to visit the Smurf village as well.
And at the Island of Sodor, things had gone back to normal as it should be.

/Diesel\: "Oh! /Cackling\"
