Chapter 2

(Chiron's POV)

"We need to tell you something"

When I heard those 6 words, I knew what they were going to say. Percy was feeling the pain already, I was dreading this day, I hoped it wouldn't come. I sighed.

"Come in, I guess it is time for me to tell you what the pain in your arms mean" I told them

"Wait, I didn't even tell you that I was feeling the pain already." Percy asked

Jason just face-palmed, Leo and Travis couldn't help but chuckle despite their situation.

I sighed, we are going to be here all night.

"Nevermind that Percy, the four of you, sit down, it is time."

The four of them sat down, awaiting the explanation.

"Alright, I guess I should start talking about it's story first."

"It?" Leo asked

"All questions will be answered later Leo" I replied.

He nodded and stayed quiet.

"Ok, it all began, back when there were only gods and humans here in Earth. There were no demigods like you, just two different species. Monsters that are now caged roamed freely, some evil mutants, others are pure evil. But there was one that stood out the most, he was a mutant half human, half monster. He was the most powerful out of all, the son of the purest evil and the most corrupted human. His name was Samuel Diablo, he was the son of the devil himself, not even the Big Three could defeat him. Naturally, of course, the gods felt threatened and so they devised a plan, Athena the Goddess of Wisdom researched and researched, for something that might defeat him, until she stumbled across these 4 marks made by the First God himself. They were called the Protecters marks. These 4 marks, together they can defeat Samuel, all that was needed was people strong enough to wield them, but no human could possess such power and so the first four demigods were born. Zeus, Poseidon, Hermes and Hephaestus were the first four who produced children, their names had long been forgotten for they didn't succeed in defeating him they merely trapped him in a prison meant to last for an eternity. Back in the days they were called The Protecters, their power was so strong, that if they lose control, they could kill anyone in seconds and because of that they isolated themselves, kept on changing their names as they traveled the world and so when they died, no remembered them, let alone knew them. They were our forgotten heroes."

"Woah, wait, so what you're saying is that we have atleast one of those marks each?" Travis asked in disbelief.

"Yes, Travis. That is exactly what I am saying." I answered.

They were silent, they were still processing this information.

"So, what kind of power do each of the marks hold?" Jason asked, since he was the first one to recover from the shock.

"Alright, I will now continue." I said.

They nodded, waiting silently.

"The first mark was wielded by the son of Zeus, it will increase the power of it's wielder. It strengthens your connection to the spirits of the sky, it gives you more control, It can help you control anything that is made up of air or anything that has air. The second mark was wielded by the son of Poseidon, it also increases the power the wielder already has. It strengthens your bond to the ocean and it can also help you control the Earth and anything that has water in it or compsed by it, including humans and poison. The third mark was wielded by the son of Hermes, it gives you unimaginable speed and stealth. No one can keep up with you. It also enhances your physical abilties like strength, eye-sight and hearing. The fourth and last mark was wielded by the son of Hepheastus, it gives the wielder control over any kind of fire. It also enhances physical abilities, this mark can destroy anything."

They were all silent.

"Chiron?" Percy asked startling the others.

"Yes, Percy?"

"Earlier, you said if they lost control they could kill anyone within seconds, that is why they had to isolate themselves." he answered

"I did" I told him, knowing already where this is going, this had been one of the parts I had been dreading.

"Doesn't that mean we have to isolate ourselves too? But if we do that... that means we have to leave everyone behind, including our girlfriends and... our family."

The other three let that sink in, then they widened their eyes and looked at me.

"Is it true Chiron, do we have to leave everyone we care about behind?"

Travis asked looking heartbroken.

Jason and Leo were the same, but they couldn't speak.

Percy's hands were formed into fists, while he was looking down. I couldn't see his face, so I didn't know exactly what he was feeling.

"It is up to you, whether you decide to leave them or not, but if you ask me, I would advice... to leave them, for their own safety. But know this, even if you decide to leave or not you cannot tell them about this except for Grover and Will I suppose, since Grover has already witnessed it and yes, I noticed earlier. And Will because we need someone who can heal you when injured and not ask any questions and also he is the best healer here in camp." I answered.

They couldn't speak, they were all speechless. I checked the time, we have talking for about an hour now, it is time for them to rest.

"You guys, should go back to your cabins and rest, we will continue to talk about this tomorrow, when you are ready to hear the rest. For now, go and get some sleep. You guys will need it." I told them

"B-but what about the pain, and why have we been given these marks?" Jason asked, who still has not processed the whole thing.

"We will talk about it tomorrow, for now, that is enough information.Now go to back to your cabins and rest. This has been quite a day for the four of you." I answered gently.

They looked at each other, then nodded and said their good nights, then walked back to their cabins.

I looked at them through the window, I felt bad for them, especially since I knew what happened to the last demigods who got the marks.
