The Rise of Zane

The Gem Home World

Diamond Palace

The Gem Home World had become quite peaceful since Steven convinced the Diamonds to stop their unjust actions across the universe.

White Diamond had entered the Diamond palace after being away handling another matter. "White, you're back." Blue Diamond greeted her.

"Hello Blue." White replied.

"We have a message for you from Steven." Blue commented.

"Great, what is it?" she asked.

"He was asking about a Black Diamond." Blue replied.

Instantly White froze in shock, "White, are you okay?" Yellow Diamond asked.

"Yes I'm fine. Its just I never expected to hear that name again." White replied

"Why?" Yellow asked.

"Before I created you two and Pink there was another Diamond." White explained.

"Another Diamond!?" Both Yellow and Blue said in shock.

"Yes, it was eons ago before you two and Pink there was another, Black Diamond. The one who created us left us this planet and told us to do whatever we wanted with our new life. I wanted to spread my deluded sense of perfection across the universe and Black wanted to live peacefully with the other races and learn from them. Seeing she was the only one standing in my way I attacked and bubbled her." White explained.

"Where is she now!" Blue asked.

"I hid her under my palace." White replied.

"Then let's free her." Yellow suggested.

"I don't know." White said hesitantly.

"We're in Era three White, and all the Diamonds need to be present." Blue commented.

"Fine, but she will be angry when she reemerges." White replied.

The Diamonds went to the catacombs of White's palace and went to the room White was holding Black and found it completely empty. "This is...This is impossible!" White shouted, "Where is she!?"

"White, what's wrong?!" Yellow shouted.

"This is where I was keeping Black, but if she isn't here then that must mean...We have to contact Steven immediately." White exclaimed.

As the Diamonds ran to a communication room they found multiple gems on the ground shattered. "What happened here?" Blue asked horrified.

"I happened." Zane called out.

"Who are you? What have you done to our gems?" Yellow asked.

"I'm not surprised you don't recognise me White. Seeing how I am now fused with an organic." Zane replied. Zane moved the bangs covering his gem and revealed the diamond on his forehead.

"Black! Is that you!" White shouted surprised.

"Surprise." Zane said playfully.

"She must have done the same thing Pink did." Yellow commented.

"No she didn't." Zane interrupted, "My name is Zane Share, when you filthy rocks invaded my planet Black Diamond found me and using ancient sorcery she fused with me granting me all of her powers, skills and memories." Zane replied.

"Wait! I recognise your species, your..." Yellow exclaimed.

"The last Zhamorian." Zane said with a vicious expression.

"We're so sorry about what happened." Blue said with a sincere voice.

"Its to late to apologise. To either of us." Zane said with his voice starting to distort sounding like himself and Black Diamond speaking at the same time.

"Black, Zane! What do you want?" White asked.

"We want just one thing White. The complete an utter destruction of the Gem race!" Zane/Black replied.

"We can't let them get away with this." Yellow shouted.

"Yellow wait!" White pleaded.

"I'm sorry white but they clearly came here to shatter us and I for one will not let that happen!" Yellow shouted firing an electrical energy blast at Zane.

At that moment Ben jumped in as Chromastone and easily absorbed the attack.

"What the!?" Yellow said surprised.

"You honestly think I would come here without some kind of plan!" Zane/Black shouted as their voice changed back to just Zane's voice.

Yellow fired another electrical blast that Ben easily absorbed and redirected at her which caused her to crash to the ground.

"Yellow!" Blue shouted firing one of her energy blasts at which Ben easily absorbed.

"Its not going to be that easy!" Zane shouted.

Yellow got back up and charged at Ben, she threw a punch and when she came into contact with him she was instantly poofed.

"Yellow!" both White and Blue shouted in unison.

"I knew that would work." Zane shouted.

"What happened!" Blue shouted.

"For all your power, you Diamonds like any other gem are simply hard light holograms and Crystalsapien's like this one are capable of absorbing energy simply by coming into contact with it." Zane explained, he then walked up to Yellow Diamond's gem and bubbled it, "But don't worry about her, the Crystalsapien only took enough energy to disable her physical form."

Blue began to tear up and the room filled with her Blue aura and Zane and White began to tear up, "Sorry Blue, But I've felt worse." Zane commented.

Ben charged at Blue and poofed her when he came into contact with her. Ben then ran towards White but was stopped by Zane, "No. This ones mine." Zane said grabbing Chromastone and walking towards White.

"Last time we fought you won. This time will be different." the combined voices of Zane and Black shouted.

"Black please stop this. Maybe we can find some sort of compromise." White pleaded.

"Maybe you have a point." Zane/Black replied, "Or not!" they shouted firing an energy beam at White.

White fired her own beam and the two beams collided. White's beam seemed to be having the advantage pushing Zane back, "Stop this Black! You know you can't beat me!" White shouted.

"That may have been the truth in the past but while you were stuck in your own head, I've had millennia to practice my abilities." Zane/Black shouted overpowering White's beam striking and proofing her.

Zane walked up to Blue and Whites gems and bubbled them, "Three down one to go." Zane said with a smile.

At that moment Spinel walked in and found the scene left by Ben and Zane. "What happened here?" she asked, when she saw Zane holding the Diamonds she shouted, "The Diamonds!"

The moment Zane saw Spinel he said with a calm expression, "Shatter her."

Ben transformed into Fourarms and attacked Spinel, Spinel stretched her arms, wrapped them around Ben and threw him into Zane which caused Zane to drop the Diamonds.

Spinel quickly stretched her arms grabbing the Diamonds and ran off to the warp pad transporting to Earth.

"Dammit!" Zane shouted.

Earth

Beach City

Steven was at Funland with the Gems and Connie and was having a fun time. "Hey do you guys want to ride the Funercane again!" Steven exclaimed.

"Ya!" Amethyst shouted.

"Steven I think seven times is enough." Connie said exhausted.

"Why don't we try something a little more gentle like the horses." Pearl suggested.

"Okay fine." Steven begrudgingly agreed.

"I don't think they'll be enough time for that." Garnet commented.

"What do you mean?" Steven asked.

At that moment Spinel came running in holding the Diamonds. "Spinel! What are you doing here!? And are those the Diamonds!" Pearl shouted surprised.

"Steven, I need your help!" Spinel shouted.

Egypt

Zane teleported in with Ben, "I can't believe that Spinel took my prize!" he shouted, he then looked and saw Danny had collected the rest of the Hero League. "Excellent!" he exclaimed, "At least one part of my plan is still on schedule." he commented. He walked up to the heroes and gave them orders, "Ninja, Ladybug and Cat Noir give me your mystical objects."

"Tiki, spots off." Ladybug said transforming back into Marinette handing her earrings over to Zane.

"Plagg, claws in." Cat Noir said transforming back into Adrien handing his ring over to Zane.

Randy removed his mask removing his ninja suit handing it over to Zane.

"Who are you? What did you do to Marinette!?" Tikki asked.

"Don't worry little Kwamis. You'll have your owners back eventually. Now get back into the Miraculous." Zane ordered.

Plagg and Tikki did as they were told and went back into their Miraculouses. Zane walked to the centre of the platform and placed the mystical objects in the centre of the platform. "Hey dragonboy!" he called out to Jake, "Come here!" he ordered.

Jake walked up to him. Zane created an energy dagger and drew some blood from him and placed it in the middle of the platform. The platform began to glow and five different coloured platforms began to form.

"Now all I need are the Diamonds, hopefully that Spinel took them where I think she took them." Zane said to himself.

Beach City

Steven, the Gems, Connie and Spinel were eagerly waiting for the Diamonds to reform.

"I wonder who could have possibly poofed the Diamonds." Pearl commented.

"It was some alien." Spinel replied.

"What did he want?" Steven asked.

"He probably wanted to assassinate the Diamonds." Garnet replied.

"Why would anyone want to do that?" Steven asked.

"The question is who wouldn't want to do that." Pearl replied.

"What do you mean?" Steven asked.

"You see Steven Gems don't have the best reputation in the universe." Pearl replied.

"Some races hate us all together." Garnet replied.

"But Gems aren't bad." Steven replied.

"True, but Gems have still done many bad things and some species aren't as forgiving as humans Steven." Garnet explained.

Steven gave Garnet a very concerned look, "Shouldn't we get the other Gems in on this?" Connie asked.

"I don't think we should right now. I don't want to endanger anymore people than we need to." Steven replied.

Eventually the three gems began to glow forming back into the Diamonds wearing new outfits.

"So that's what getting poofed feels like." Yellow commented.

"Where are we?" Blue asked, "Is this Earth?" she commented.

"Guys hello!" Steven called out.

"Steven!" all three Diamonds said in unison.

"What happened?" Steven asked.

White sighed and told them the entire story of her and Black Diamond and Zane attack White's castle. "So that's what happened." Steven said surprised.

"Unfortunately yes." White answered.

"I just can't believe you did that to Black Diamond." Steven commented.

"I was different back then." White admitted ashamed of herself.

"We need to talk to him maybe we can work something out." Steven suggested.

"I don't know if that will be possible." Blue commented.

"Why not?" Steven asked.

"Because we already tried." Yellow replied, "He was not interested in a thing we had to say."

"There must be something we can do." Connie commented.

"I don't think there is." Zane called out.

The Gems looked up and saw Zane standing above them, the Crystal Gems quickly pulled out their weapons, Connie pulled out her sword, Lion got into battle position, Spinel expanded her fists and got in a cartoony boxing position and the Diamonds prepared for battle. "Guys wait we don't have to fight." Steven shouted running in between them.

"At least one of you has a brain." Zane smirked.

"What do you want?" Steven asked.

"I want to make things right." Zane answered.

"How?" Amethyst asked.

"Simple really. I have gathered three mystical objects and the blood of a dragon on an ancient platform I had built a few centuries ago. With the gems of the Diamonds and a special incantation, all the life the gems took will go back to where it originated from." Zane explained.

"What will happen to the gems?" Steven asked.

"On them. Since they will have no life force left in them, the Gems for all intensive purposes will die." Zane explained.

This gave all the Gems present, Connie and Steven a horrified face, "You can't just commit genocide on an entire race!" Connie shouted.

"I'm not committing genocide. I'm fixing it." Zane replied.

"What kind of sick way of thinking is that!" Connie shouted.

"Think about it little girl. How are Gems created?" Zane asked.

"With injectors." Steven answered.

"And the injectors sap life right out of a planet to make a Gem live, correct?" Zane asked.

"And what do you think happens to the inhabitants of said planets when all their natural resources are gone?" Zane asked.

Everyone kept quiet. "I'm sorry I didn't quite get that. What happens to the inhabitants!?" Zane shouted.

"They die." Steven answered sadly.

"And that is what happened to my people! They died! I am the last member of my species. The last son of Zhamora! Zane Share! And I'm going to make those filthy rocks suffer for what they've done!" Zane shouted.

Steven stepped forward and tried to reason with Zane, "Zane you don't have to do this maybe I can..."

"The only thing you can do for me is die Steven!" Zane shouted firing an energy beam that blasted Steven to the ground.

"Steven!" everyone shouted in unison.

"That was only an appetizer, time for the main course!" Zane shouted, he snapped his finger and Ben, Danny, Jake and Kim who was wearing her battlesuit revealed themselves jumping into action.

"Guys!" Steven said shocked.

"First things first. Tennyson!" Zane called out.

Ben transformed into Feedback and stretched his antenna and tail at the Diamonds absorbing their energy causing them to poof again.

"This is bad." Garnet commented.

Ben transformed into XLR8 and quickly retrieved the Diamonds bringing them to Zane. "Thank you." Zane said to Ben bubbling the Diamonds. "Don't think I forgot about you." Zane said to Spinel throwing an energy dagger at her poofing her as well. "That was for taking my prize." he then looked at Steven, "Since you can't be poofed Universe I have to resort to using other methods to get you to comply. Hero League! Kill the Crystal Gems."

The heroes went in and attacked the Gems, Danny flew in and Connie rushed up to him, jumped up and kicked him to the ground.

Ben charged at her as Diamondhead, changed his arms into blades and swung at her, Connie managed to defend herself from one of Ben's attacks but was immediately sent to the ground.

Ben went in to stab her but his arm was held back by Amythest's whip. Ben pulled the whip and sent Amythest flying to the ground, he fired multiple crystal shards at the Gem which skewed Amethyst poofing her instantly.

"Amethyst!" Steven called out.

Pearl charged at Ben with her spear and the two began a clash of blades, Ben got the advantage and kicked her into a rock when she got back up she was greeted by Kim and Jake.

Garnet attacked Ben giving two solid punches to the face, Ben fired multiple crystal shards at the gem, Garnet defended herself by blocking each of the shards with her gauntlets, Garnet then fired her Gauntlets at Ben, Ben hit the ground and created a crystal wall to protect himself. Garnet jumped over the wall and tackled Ben into Steven's house.

Pearl was fighting off the duel assault of Kim and Jake, Pearl fired energy blasts at the pair, Kim caught them with her glove and redirected the energy back at Pearl sending her crashing into a wall.

Pearl charged at Kim and tried to stab her with her spear, Jake caught it and punched her up in the air, Kim jumped over Pearl and kicked her back to the ground.

Connie and Lion charged at Danny, Lion unleashed his sonic roar which Danny easily avoided, Danny fired an ecto energy beam at the beast that sent him flying into the ocean.

Connie charged in and began swinging her sword at Danny who simply phased through her attacks. When Connie began to tire out Danny punched her and sent her flying to the ground, he the flew up to her, grabbed her neck pinning her to ground, made his other hand intangible and forced it through her chest.

Ben as Diamondhead was thrown out of the Universe home and sent crashing to the ground, Garnet jumped out of it and charged towards him, Ben transformed into Echo Echo and created clones surrounding Garnet, the Echo Echo's unleashed a powerful sonic attack that caused Garnet great discomfort eventually proofing her leaving Ruby and Sapphire's gems behind.

"Garnet!" Steven cried out.

The Echo Echo's merged back into one and Ben picked up the two gems and prepared to unleash a sonic attack to destroy them.

"No! Don't do it!" Steven cried out.

Before Ben and Danny could finish off their opponents Zane shouted, "Stop!" the heroes did so and left their opponents alone, "You felt that didn't you?" Zane asked Steven.

"What?" Steven asked.

"Fear, anger, the feeling of helplessness as you watched your friends and family die." Zane answered, "My people lived with that feeling for years. That is why I want your help Steven."

"To do what?" Steven asked.

"To end the madness that these monsters brought on the universe." Zane replied.

"They're not monsters, they're my friends." Steven replied.

"Friends who are partly responsible for the genocide of countless civilizations. What about them Steven! What about their happily ever afters!" Zane shouted.

"I don't know!" Steven shouted grabbing his head.

"And what about the ones who managed to survive the destruction of their worlds. Think about what horribly unsightly things they had to do just to survive!" Zane shouted.

"Please, just stop!" Steven shouted hearing the truth in what Zane was saying.

"Do the right thing Steven! Be the the hero and help me save the lives of all the civilizations the Gems destroyed!" Zane shouted.

Steven let out a painful sigh and willingly walked towards Zane, "That's the spirit." Zane commented.

"Steven don't listen to him! He's wrong!" Connie shouted.

"Easy for you to say. Maybe if the blood of your family were spilt, you would be saying something different." Zane replied. Connie remained quiet. "That's what I thought. Let's go." he called out to the heroes.

The heroes left the Gems and Connie and went to Zane. Before any of them teleported away Pearl threw her spear at Zane he easily dodged it without looking but it grazed Jakes left ear and stabbed Kim in the shoulder, causing the two to vomit out the black slime controlling them. "Guess that's my que to leave." Zane said teleporting away with Steven, Ben and Danny.

"What happened?" Jake groaned.

"We better take them back inside." Connie suggested.

Egypt

Zane teleported the group back to Egypt, "Alright Steven all you have to do is stand on that pink platform." Zane commented.

Steven did so and stood on the platform. Zane went on to place Yellow, Blue and White Diamond on the yellow, blue and white platforms. He then went and stood on the black platform.

"What now?" Steven asked.

"Just wait." Zane smirked. The platforms began to glow and the light reached the mystical objects. "We just have to wait for the objects to charge up and the universe will be whole again." Zane said with a smile.

"I guess." Steven said sadly.

"Finally, the time has come!" Zane shouted with a smile.
