Okay, this chapter has the gore. Type of injury is self-inflicted werewolf attack and there is some description but it's certainly not more graphic than anything in Half Blood Prince (think sectumsempra).

The next week was dedicated to making Remus a safe room. A spare room downstairs was chosen, then the three of them set to work reinforcing it with sheets of metal and unbreakable charms. Amid the flying nails and tools, a delighted Harry ran amok, protected by the strong shield charm Remus had cast on him.

Finally, on the day of the full moon, they were finished. It had been decided that it would be best if James didn't transform; having a 1 year old as the only human in the house was probably not very good parenting.

At 10 o'clock James bid Remus and Sirius good luck and took Harry upstairs, while Sirius locked them in. Remus had fallen asleep- he'd insisted on helping with the construction despite feeling dead on his feet- so Sirius transformed into Padfoot and also got some rest.

He was woken by the screams. Remus was mid transformation, so he ran to the corner to give the wolf as much space as possible. The moment it was finished, the wolf began running in frenzied circles, thankfully ignoring the cowering dog in the corner.

Then, once there was nowhere left to run, it turned on itself, gouging a great chunk out of its back. At this point Sirius sprang into action, tackling the creature to the ground to divert its attention away from itself. The wolf and dog wrestled for hours on end, occasionally breaking apart and chasing each other.

For the most part, Sirius was uninjured; just a couple of scratches on his legs from where the wolf had caught him with his claws. Remus had fared far worse, having managed to bite himself repeatedly despite Sirius' best efforts.

The worst part of the night was when the wolf had found a protruding metal bar they hadn't noticed, and decided to bite it with a sickening crunch. That was really going to hurt tomorrow, especially as none of them knew any dental magic.

Sunrise couldn't come soon enough, and Padfoot collapsed in a panting heap the moment Remus began to transform back.

He returned to human form to unlock the door, which was opened by a concerned looking James.

"How was it?"

"Could've gone better." He replied, gesturing to Remus who was staggering through the doorway nursing his mouth.

Between the two of them, they half carried Remus upstairs, before laying him on his bed.

-

"How do you feel?"

Remus gave an inaudible reply, which sprayed blood onto the duvet cover. Sirius watched him explore his mouth with his tongue, and didn't blame him when he let out a cry of alarm.

From the floor of the safe room, he and James had recovered two molars, two canines and an incisor.

"You lost five." He explained, "and we know it's possible but we're not really sure how to grow them back."

There was no reply, as Remus had either fallen asleep or fainted- both possibilities were equally likely.

"I've got a book of baby spells and there's stuff about teething in there. I know we're having the opposite problem but it's worth a shot." James suggested.

Him and Sirius leafed through the book, but were unable to find any spells for fixing broken teeth. However they did find an inscription in the front cover:

Dear Lily and James,

Fabian told me about your little boy, congratulations! This book was a lifesaver with my six and I hope you find it just as useful. If you ever need a hand, you're always welcome to the Burrow.

Love Molly

"Who's Molly?" Sirius asked.

"Gideon and Fabians' sister. They gave us this just after we'd had Harry."

"It strikes me that right now we need a hand." Sirius observed. "Is the Burrow an address do you think?"

"Maybe, anyway the worst that could happen is we end up in a field somewhere and we could just apparate back."

"We probably shouldn't leave Harry with Moony; I don't think it would be safe for either of them to be unsupervised."

"I'll go." James decided. "The book was addressed to me."

-

He apparated into a bustling kitchen. 6 red-headed children sat at a very long table, 2 of them in high chairs. A plump witch, also with red hair was expertly feeding the youngest baby, whilst simultaneously intercepting the food being thrown across the table by two toddlers.

On James' arrival all conversations and arguments ceased, and a boy jumped down from the table and threw himself onto his mother's lap.

"I'm James Potter." James announced, aware that he could have handled his arrival better. "You said we should visit if we needed a hand and we do, although not with Harry, with our friend…" James trailed off as he realised he was rambling.

"A pleasure to meet you. I'm Molly Weasley. I was so sorry to hear about Lily, such a tragedy, my brothers always spoke most highly of both of you."

If this woman was alarmed by James' sudden appearance in her kitchen she hid it very well, which was fortunate because past introducing himself he really had not thought this through."

"You said you needed help with your friend?"

"Oh, yes, he's knocked out a few teeth. Do you know how to regrow them?"

"My Charlie's fallen out of every tree in the orchard." She replied, gesturing to the oldest boy. "He wouldn't have any left if I didn't know how to fix them."

"Great, thank you so much." James gushed in relief.

"Let's go then."

"But your children?"

"Arthur's in charge." Molly gestured to a large newspaper, which was lowered to reveal a man with the same flaming hair as his children.

"Right." James held onto Molly's arm and apparated into the spare room.

-

"Gosh he's in a right mess; what happened?"

James and Sirius hesitated, until Sirius finally piped up with, "There was a broomstick accident."

"Did you crash too?"

James suddenly realised that Sirius had several quite large cuts on his arms and face, which neither of them had previously noticed as they paled in significance to Remus' injuries.

"Yeah, straight into each other. Obviously he came off worse."

Ever since Molly had asked why he was so bashed up, Remus had been looking pretty anxious, but he relaxed when she accepted Sirius' story.

"Let's have a look then."

Remus opened his mouth gingerly, letting out several yelps as Molly poked around with her wand.

"Stop wriggling dear." She chastised.

Remus would have liked to counter with "stop jabbing me then" but he was unable as it was too painful to talk and he had half a wand in his mouth.

"We've got the teeth if that helps." James volunteered, coming forwards with all 5 in his hand.

"Don't worry, that won't be necessary." Molly reassured them while Remus tried not to gag, both at the contents of James' palm and the huge amount of magic going on in his mouth.

"There." The witch said as she completed the final spell and withdrew her wand.

Magic didn't work on werewolf wounds so Remus only rarely experienced the instant relief bought by wizarding medicine, however he'd had enough ordinary bumps and scrapes to know that the pain would pretty much vanish. And it hadn't.

"I don't think it'th really worked" he lisped, trying not to sound ungrateful but feeling slightly annoyed that, on top of the cuts and bites currently hidden beneath the covers, he'd managed to sustain one of the few injuries that couldn't be healed with magic.

"They'll grow through over the course of the day, which can be quite painful. Try not to fiddle with them or they'll grow wonky. Now if you fell off a broom, you've probably got some other injuries that need attention."

"That's alright." Said Sirius quickly, "we can do that."

"We don't want to take up any more of your time." James added, adjusting Remus' blankets so all of his limbs were properly concealed- broomstick accidents didn't usually take chunks out of your back.

Molly was gathering up her handbag when Harry crawled into the room. Sirius had left him on his play mat on the landing but the baby had now tired of the enchanted mobile and decided to investigate the events in the spare room.

"Oh bless him." Molly said, picking Harry up. "My Ron's just this age."

She made to put him down on the bed, but Harry began crying loudly and clinging to her cardigan.

Sirius and Remus exchanged panicked looks, while James struggled to compose himself.

"Down you get sweetie." Molly said, finally detaching Harry's fingers and setting the kicking baby down on Remus' stomach, causing the werewolf to emit a loud "oof."

Sirius quickly removed Harry from the bed and handed him to James. "Thank you so much for your help Molly. And we were sorry to hear about your brothers." He said, trying to block Harry's view of the red- headed woman.

"That's alright, their murderer is rotting in Azkaban." Molly said, so fiercely it almost sounded like a growl. "Maybe we could get our little ones together soon?" She added, more brightly.

"Sounds great." Sirius agreed, as Harry tried to struggle out of James' arms in his desperation to reach Molly.

"Bye then. Call me if anything goes wrong." Molly disappeared with a crack.

"Do you think he'll do that every time?" James asked, wiping his tear-stained glasses on his shirt, while bouncing a whimpering Harry up and down.

The other two didn't answer, Sirius because he was thinking about all the ginger women Harry had reached out for when they'd gone shopping earlier in the week, and Remus because he was wondering what could go wrong.

"I'm going to run Harry a bath." James said eventually.

"You do that Prongs." Sirius agreed, aware that what James really meant was that he needed some time alone.

Lily's funeral also took place in this period of time but I've never been to one and I wasn't really sure how to write it. Suffice to say it was beautiful and emotional.
