Groose entered into the dark cave, the only light coming from cracks in the ceiling and from the entrance itself. The cave was moist, water dripping from the top and puddles that have formed on the ground, making it muddy. Not only that, the cave smelled a bit soggy, but not so bad that it was unbearable. Link was limp over Groose's shoulder as Groose continued to make his way further into the cave. Groose was still showing no signs of putting him down, or even any fatigue of carrying him around. However, Link was starting to feel a bit uncomfortable from the pressure of Groose's buff shoulder on his stomach and that fact that his head was facing down for awhile. He had stayed quiet most of the walk, while Groose was humming to himself trying to ignore the complete silence. Link shifted around a little bit, hoping that Groose would finally get the point that he wanted to be put down, but Groose paid no mind. Link supposed he had to be vocal about it.
"Uh, hey, Groose?" Link meekly asked for his attention.
"What's up, lil buddy?" Groose halted his movement and looked over his shoulder, hands shifting lower down the back of Link's thighs, making Link shudder in response.
"Could you maybe put me down for now? My abdomen is starting to hurt," Link requested, hoping he would finally to comply.
Groose blinked.
"I guess, but don't be runnin' off or anything!" Groose slowly slid his hands back up Link's thighs, over his ass, and up to his defined waist, where he squeezed so that he wouldn't just fall off his shoulder. Bending forward, he let Link slip off of his broad shoulder, Link holding onto his biceps for support until he felt his feet touch the floor.
"Are you feeling okay, maybe you might be a bit dizzy from being upside down? Your entire face is red," Groose chuckled as Link just stared at his face.
"Are you kidding me? You totally felt me up just now! Not that I didn't like it, but I'm insanely turned on right now," is what Link wanted to say, but again, decided to keep that thought to himself as he let go of Groose's arm and faced front.
"... No response? Well, if you're feeling better, we should keep going. I have a feeling your Loftwing is close!" Groose stated, knowing full well that they were heading directly towards it because that's where him and his group trapped it in the first place. He felt guilty, as he should, but continued to feign ignorance.
"Oh! Sorry, I didn't realize I didn't say anything. You know, because I was dizzy," Link tried to play it off as that. "But, yes! Let's go! I can sense him!"
The pair started forward, side by side deeper into the murky cave. They walked faster than normal to try and get out of the darkness as soon as possible, and half Link worried about his feathered friend. Both had determined looks on their faces as they finally saw the end of the cave come into view. Groose stole a glance at Link, who happened to just meet eyes with him at the same time. Link's expression lightened as he grinned back, making Groose blush in embarrassment for being caught.
"C'mon! Since we can see it, let's get out of here!" Link said enthusiastically and Groose nodded. They both started sprinting, Link being faster than Groose because his lithe body made it easier for him to be more agile. Groose followed closely behind as he struggled to keep up, breathing heavily.
Link passed through the exit and slowed down, feeling the texture of blowing grass under his boots and the warm wind flowing through his loose golden hair. Groose trudged behind him, going over with his hands on his knees, gasping for air. Link giggled and went over to Groose, lightly patting him on his back.
"Why.. are you... impossible to... keep up with?" Groose breathed out, slowly regaining his posture. Link didn't say anything. He just tilted his head in sympathy, even almost condescending in a sarcastic manner.
"Hey..." Groose pouted, knowing that Link was making fun of him. Suddenly they both heard a squawk. Looking ahead, they spotted none other than the crimson Loftwing itself!
"There you are! I'm coming to save you, beautiful!" Link ran to the enclosure his Loftwing was forced into, a look of relief on his face now knowing that his Loftwing was unharmed. Groose walked after him, watching him endearingly as his now friend excitedly went over to his partner. Link reached over the wooden planks and hugged tightly onto the top of the Loftwing's large beak lovingly and pet inbetween his eyes, smiling widely.
"Let's get you out of here! I'm so glad you're okay!" Link exclaimed as he went to a corner and staring pulling at the edge of the plank.
"Ah, he was cute just now... Wait, what?" Groose whispered to himself, confusing himself with his own thoughts. "Why did I just say that? He's a guy, so there's no possible way he could be cute! He's handsome. Wait, STOP! Stop thinking about him! Just go and help! Shut up!" Groose shook his head from his mind and went over to the other end of the plank and started pulling as well.
"If we pull at the same time with the same force, we can probably get it off in one sitting," Link looked over to Groose for approval, who just nodded, not looking over. Link cocked an eyebrow and shrugged.
"Okay, one... two... three!" Both men used all their strength, successfully breaking the wood off of the wall in one swift movement. The Loftwing waddled out of the space and cawed happily, stretching his wings wide and flapping them around excitedly. Link immediately threw himself onto his Loftwing's side, cuddling into his soft torso and whining. Groose folded his arms and put his weight onto his left leg as he watched Link and his Loftwing celebrate their reunion, satisfaction showing on his face. Groose stepped towards the Loftwing and patted it's cheek, and in return the Loftwing squawked and pecked at his chest. Link's expression turned into shocked and pulled his Loftwing's face away.
"Oh my gosh I'm so sorry! He usually never does that! I wonder if he's just anxious after being cooped up in there," Link was ignorant that Groose was behind the whole plan. Groose looked at the ground and scratched the back of his neck.
"It's okay. It's kinda my fault anyway, duh huh huh..." Groose nervously laughed, thinking it was about time to confess his faults.
"What do you mean? It's... your fault?" Link looked at him with confusion on his face. He realized what he meant when Groose shifted his eyes to the side and rubbed his hands together. Link felt his face get hot and tears well up in his eyes. His Loftwing shuffled the tip of it's beak into Link's armpit.
"How could you... Why..." He almost didn't want to believe it. His head spiraled as tears began to stream down his red cheeks. He clutched onto what he could of his Loftwing and lowered his head, crying onto it's beak. The Loftwing cooed in response, snuggling Link closer.
"I was jealous. I was being selfish. I envied the relationship you and Zelda shared because I wanted her to notice me. But after what we did, I realized that it wasn't important to get involved between you two or force my way between you and her," Groose's demeanor had completely changed as he stepped his way forward. "I understand why you're upset, and I understand if you wouldn't want to forgive me. What I did was unforgivable and petty. I'm sorry, Link. I really am. Today, you showed me what it's like to be at ease and actually enjoy my time without worrying about any status or what others think about me. I actually really enjoyed what we built together during this time. And I know now it won't be the same because I ruined it before it even started. Link, I truly am sorry, I really want to be with you. I promise I can change and be better. I don't care about my popularity and this big show that I'm putting on in front of others. I realized how foolish that is. Please, Link. Please give me another chance," Groose's eyes pooled up as well, a single warm tear escaping and falling to the ground. Link stared at Groose, his mouth slightly agape and face still warm.
"His eyes look so innocent," Groose thought to himself as they continued to look at each other, hoping that Link would give him a second chance. The Loftwing removed his beak from under Link and ruffled its feathers. Groose slowly reached for Link's back as Link continued to stare at him, standing still as if he were accepting him back. Carefully, Groose's fingertips touched Link's shoulders and slid across his shoulder blades over to the other, Link being in his personal space now. Suddenly, he was tackled to the ground in a tight hug. Link buried his face into Groose's chest as Groose had the wind knocked out of him. He looked down to find the top of Link's head and sighed. He rubbed one hand on his upper back and ran his fingers through those blond strands of hair that he found himself loving recently. Tears of relief fell down the sides of his face as he closed his eyes. He felt the little damp spots forming on his shirt as Link sobbed into him.
"I can't believe you! I hate you!" Link cried out and weakly pounded his fist on his upper chest. He was very upset, but he knew that Groose wouldn't take it the wrong way, because he didn't actually hate him.
"I know, I know. I'm the worst. I'm sorry, Link," Groose agreed as he continued to play with Link's hair and calmly rub his back.
"You are! You are the worst!" Groose opened his eyes as Link went limp and simply cried. He pulled Link closer and sat them both up, which took some work because Link was being noncompliant, but it ended up with Link sitting in his lap with his legs wrapped around him, head still on his chest and arms wrapped around him as well. He at least stopped crying now and his breathing had returned to normal. Groose tightly hugged him back and buried his nose into Link's fluffy hair. He could smell Link's floral scented shampoo and enjoyed breathing it in. He enjoyed having someone he cared about in his arms, clinging onto him in forgiveness. This is all he wanted at the moment.
They had all sat there for a while in silence, the Loftwing resting itself off to the side, not bothering anyone. Link had been so steady throughout this entire time that Groose had thought he may have fallen asleep from exhaustion and worry. His arms had fallen down, his legs had loosened up, and his head had fallen to the side, signifying he had run out of energy for now.
"I guess... It wouldn't hurt... He does deserve it," Groose thought as he lightly placed a kiss on the top of his head. Link stirred a tad bit, making Groose nervous that he was still awake and was aware of the action, but proved to be false as he made no response afterwards. Groose sighed in relief mentally.
"Well, it's looking to be a bit late, we should probably get going," Groose shook Link lightly, but Link seemed to ignore the suggestion and continued to stay unconscious. Groose sighed. "How stubborn," He thought. He slightly lifted Link and began to bring himself off of the grass. Holding Link with one arm, supporting him underneath and the other on his lower back, he carried him over to his Loftwing who was already awake and alert.
"Hey, do you think you could fly us back up to the academy? Link fell asleep and I don't want to wake him up," Groose politely requested, wondering if the Loftwing had understood anything he had said to him. The Loftwing sniffed Link and then Groose, sensing that he didn't mean any harm. The Loftwing brought itself up and knelt over, allowing Groose access to straddle onto it's back with Link closely wrapped to him with one arm, and the other hand holding onto the saddle. The Loftwing waddled over to the edge of the field and jumped off the platform, gracefully gliding up to the above land and towards the academy.
The three of them arrived in front of the double doors, the Loftwing making a graceful landing. Link had only stirred during the flight, but seemingly did not open his eyes the entire time. Groose gazed down to the resting figure in his lap.
"He looks so peaceful. I wish we could stay like this forever," Groose thought to himself. He had since stopped punishing himself for having these kind of thoughts. By now, he realized that maybe he disliked Link because he never truly knew him. But that all changed today, along with his behavior. "I should probably get him into bed." He carefully slid off the back of the Loftwing with Link in his arms and softly placed his feet onto the pavement. The Loftwing looked back for reassurance, in which Groose bowed his head.
"Thank you. I will see it that he finds his way into his room," the Loftwing huffed in response and took off, probably to find a place itself to continue its well deserved rest. Groose had noticed that from since the time they left, and the time it took them to get back, dusk had already fell. He hadn't realized they had been out for that long, and assumed that everyone else was probably in bed by now, too. He decided it may be best to tell Zelda about the Loftwing situation tomorrow morning, so that they could begin the celebration by midday. Oh, yeah, Zelda. He had almost forgotten about her because all of this twist up.
Groose began walking through the entrance of the academy and into the dorm hall.
"...Link might be confused in the morning and wonder how he got back. Maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea if i kept an eye on him so that he doesn't panic. Yeah, that's a good idea, duh huh huh!" Groose said to himself with a different intention in his mind. In all reality, he just wanted to stare at Link's sleeping form. He faced his own bedroom, opening the door and stepping in with Link still in his possession. Closing the door behind him, he made his way through the dark room and gently placed Link onto his bed. Link rolled onto his side and moaned, cuddling his face into the soft pillow and clutching the sheets beneath him.
Groose's face had turned red. Steam blown through his nostrils. "He's. in. my. bed. In my bed! Sleeping! In my bed!" Groose nearly went mental as he stood at the bedside, not thinking for a second on how creepy he may have looked. For god's sake, he was staring at Link while he slept! That's weird!
"Mmm...?" Link hummed and twisted his body to look at Groose through groggy eyes. Groose snapped out of his imagination and leaned forward a bit, looking at Link in concern. Link's eyes fluttered a few more times before he sat up, rubbing them with his fist.
"Groose?"
"Y-yes?"
"We are back home?"
"Yes."
Link stretched his arms above him and his back cracked. After, he threw his legs over the edge of the bed and began to undo his boots. Groose continued to stand to the side.
"Um... If you stuck around to look after me, I'm actually fine, so you don't have to stay if you don't want to..." Link took off one boot and looked up to Groose in the dim light of the moon that shone through the window.
"Oh! Uh, actually," Groose twiddled his fingers. "We're in my room. That's why I'm still here."
Link looked down at the bedsheets. Yep, those weren't his. And the bed was a couple sizes bigger than his own, assuming that Groose takes up a lot more space than he does. And then he looked up. He saw a closet that wasn't his, a punching bag that definitely wasn't his, and Groose standing right in front of him. His brain had finally registered that, yes, indeed, they were in Groose's room. Link's face turned red at the realization.
"Oh my god I'm in his bed," Link had the same exact thought as Groose did. "He brought me in here and put me on his bed and I slept in it." Link stopped dead in his tracks and only looked back at Groose.
"I-it's fine if you don't want to stay, or me around. I can leave! If you want. And you can have my bed for tonight, if you want," Groose stammered, though he really didn't want to leave. He was just trying to see how comfortable Link is with him at this point. His face was still red, but with embarrassment this time. He rubbed the back of his neck, waiting for Link to respond. There was a long pause before Link breathed in.
"Well... If it's okay with you, since we're both here already, we could... sleep together?" Link suggested, but immediately regretted his choice of words. "W-wait, that didn't come out right! I meant-" Link looked back up to Groose, who's eyes were wide and eyebrows raised in surprise, face as equally as red.
"Shit, he definitely thought of it that way, didn't he?" Link mentally face palmed at his own stupidity. Not that he was opposed to being held by the man he found the most attractive, but he still thought that he liked Zelda. He hadn't said anything recently, though.
"N-no, it's okay, I get it. I'll just sleep on one side and you can have the other. Like a sleepover. Nothing wrong with sharing a bed, duh huh huh!" Groose made an excuse for himself as he nervously laughed. Link was making it difficult for him now, and he had no idea what feelings Groose had began having since the beginning of their journey. Groose started to see him in a different light completely. And right now, with Link having his shoes off and in the process of taking his tunic belt off, Groose's mind was running wild with lust. He was starting to feel insanely turned on by the simple actions of the man in front of him, and he didn't even know it!
"...Okay, are you gonna change? It might be a bit uncomfortable to sleep in boots and gloves, but that's on you," Link shrugged as he pulled off his tunic, revealing his thin white undershirt.
"I wish you were on me," Groose stayed silent as he complied, taking off his arm guards and shoving off his shoes, putting the gloves neatly on the nightstand and his shoes next to his bed. "He might think I'm weird, so I'll keep my pants on," He thought to himself while taking off his shirt and tossing it to the side, revealing his toned abs and burly chest. He normally slept in nothing other than his boxers, but he didn't want to make Link uncomfortable, who currently had his eyes glued to his body. Groose unconsciously flexed as he noticed, and Link snapped his gaze away.
"Anyway, let's go to sleep now. Tomorrow's the big day," Link shuffled to the far side of the bed and situated himself under the covers. Groose nodded and slid under them as well. Getting in, their legs brushed each other. Link slightly twitched, but didn't move. Groose hadn't paid any attention to it, but was hyperaware of the man next to him. He closed his eyes and attempted to fall under, but his heart rate would not let him. His eyebrows furrowed.
"Groose?" Link whispered into the air, wondering if he was still awake.
"Hm?" Groose replied, not opening his eyes.
"It's a bit chilly, don't you think?" Link made an excuse, but was secretly hoping Groose wouldn't be opposed to the idea of getting close.
Groose's eyelid slid halfway open and gazed at Link. Link was staring back hopefully.
"I suppose it's been rather cold recently..." Groose agreed. Link shifted a tad bit closer, wanting Groose to take the hint. But Groose just laid there. Link let a low whine out from under his breath.
"Oh okay, come here," Groose faced Link and pulled him by his waist, bringing him close to his bare chest. Their legs tangled each other and Link reached around to lazily hug him. Both's heartbeats had picked up big time, realizing that they could invade each other's personal space from now on. Link buried his face into Groose's cleavage and grinned. He hugged him tighter and pushed his own body up against his. Groose's eye went wide with surprise as he suddenly felt his crotch twitch to life. Link had pushed his knee right into his most private area and was squirming around, trying to steal body heat from the bigger of the two. But little did Link know, Groose was suffering from his innocent touch. Link was unknowingly rubbing him in all the right places. Groose was worried that he might be unable to hide it, being so closely pushed together, as if Link were holding onto him as if his life depended on it. Groose tried to pull his pelvis back so that it wasn't close enough for him to feel his semi-erection, but Link wasn't going to let him get away that easy.
"Where are you going? Is it too warm?" Link scooted closer to Groose again, still unaware of Groose's embarrassing situation. His squishy but somehow muscular thigh pushed up against it even more, making Groose groan at the contact. Link's eyes opened and looked up to find Groose biting his lip and eyes half-lidded to look down at Link.
"Are you feeling okay? I can move back to my side if you want," Link offered as he didn't want to make Groose uncomfortable with all of his cuddling. He was completely oblivious to the fact that Groose may have liked him back the way he did, so he continued to keep it to himself, but secretly hoping that the situation could change to his wish.
"N-no. It's fine, you don't have to. It's finally starting to warm up and it feels good, so we can stay like this unless you're getting too hot," Groose tried to hide his shame, also ignorant to what Link might feel about him. But ever since their small journey together, Groose had this light bubbling feeling rising in him, quickly feeling attracted to Link in a way he never thought he could. He liked Link's personality, and his body was also a plus. It was almost like a switch had been flipped inside his brain. What was there not to like about Link?
"Oh, alright. If that's the case," Link snuggled back into Groose's chest, holding on even tighter around his back. He once again pressed his body close into Groose's large one, and that's when it hit him. Groose was completely erect. It was touching right up on his thigh. He felt the hardened large sized limb twitch at the ample push of it. Groose held back a moan as his mind suddenly went blank, shocked at the fact that Link had just found out his obvious secret. Link's eyes widened and looked back up to Groose, who had shifted his eyes elsewhere, not wanting to take the subject further in fear of Link running away. But Link connected the dots that this meant that Groose at least liked him a little bit, enough to get him erect. Or it may have been the contact of their bodies against each other, but Link decided to take advantage of the situation. He smirked, still looking up at Groose, and squished his thigh a bit forward, making Groose attempt to close his legs. Link's hands brought themselves to his waist, slowly caressing the skin and then moving downwards to his hips, massaging his pelvic bone. Groose finally let out his previously suppressed moan, allowing his hips to be pulled in closer up Link's thigh.
"Before I go any further, is there any objections?" Link asked, not really wanting to break the mood, but he felt it'd be better to ask for permission.
"Y-yes, please. I need this. I need you Link. I've fallen in love with you, Link," Groose let out shamelessly, closing his eyes in pleasure. It was a blatant confession, but he supposed it be better to be upfront about it rather than leaving Link to ponder about whether he was being used or not. Link's eyes once again widened in surprise. He definitely wasn't expecting that.
"Groose, I've liked you for a long time, before you even knew it. Hearing that from you made me so happy. I honestly want to stay like this forever. I love you, too," Even though it may have been too early for a confession, it felt like the right moment. It was obvious that their feelings had been exposed and they both agreed that it felt genuine enough, so Link let his hands travel further down Groose, feeling his own pants begin to tighten up.
"God, Link. You turn me on so much. Do you know what you're doing to me? You're driving me crazy," Groose whispered into Link's hair, but loud enough for him to hear clearly. Link smiled smugly as he undid the drawstring of Groose's pants and pulled them down, just enough to reveal his blue tented boxers. He played with the band, tugging it around to tease Groose.
"C'mon, you know better than to do that to me. I might just lose control, babe," Groose humped up to Link's abdomen, wanting to feel even the slightest bit of friction. But Link continued to tease him, his fingers feathering on top of his boxers and only so close to his hard on. Groose clenched his teeth, ungracefully rubbing himself against Link, but Link retracted himself and sat up, the blanket falling down his back and pooling around his legs, leaving Groose lonesome from his touch. He shifted Groose to lay on his back, removing more of the blanket, exposing all of his almost unclothed body. Groose gripped the sheets below him, anxiously waiting for Link's next move. He watched Link as he lowered himself down, experimentally kissing his lips. As he pulled back, they gazed into each other's beautiful eyes.
"You're really amazing, you know that?" Groose smiled, his face looking more relaxed than before.
"Anything for you," Link leaned over once again, kissing him with more confidence. Groose lifted into the kiss, pressing them more passionately than before. Groose was now propped up on his elbows and Link's hands were on either side of Groose, trapping him underneath.
"Getting bold I see," Groose was finally able to tease Link back, only to feel his bottom lip get bitten as his mouth was tugged open, giving Link access to the inside.
