Steve and Catherine had spent their first night back at their home like they always had when they first found themselves together in the same place: with a couple of longboards and Chinese take-out in front of the tv, snuggled up on the couch before they made their way upstairs and spent the better part of the night between the sheets, making up for lost time.

Catherine would usually wake up naked the next morning, cuddled right next to him and listening to his breathing when he was still asleep, before she grabbed one of his old shirts and made her way downstairs to make him coffee with butter in it and whatever breakfast she felt like preparing.

This morning was different, though. Catherine woke up naked, cuddled right next to him and listened to his breathing before she rushed off the bed and straight in to the ensuite bathroom. As soon as she opened her eyes she felt sickness creeping in and her stomach flipping, causing her to throw up immediately.

Steve woke up to the sound of Catherine vomiting and immediately got up to make his way to the bathroom, to find her sitting on the cold floor, knees to her chest and tears flowing down her cheeks.

"Hey" he whispered before kneeing down in front of her "you okay?" he asked as he pulled her in to hold her and comfort her. Catherine couldn't answer but nodded, as she held on to him tightly. "You still motion sick from the flight? You only had one longboard yesterday so you can't have a hangover, unless you lost your training in drinking with the CIA…" He chuckled, trying to lighten the mood.

"Very funny" she answered sarcastically in to his chest "I don't know… I felt sick the second I opened my eyes and ran straight in here. I'm just glad I made it in here on time or you would've woken up to a surprise here, Sailor" she joked back at him, even though she was definitely not feeling like a good time right now.

"Gross." He answered plainly as he put both his hands on her shoulder, pushing her back a bit to look in to her eyes "Do you think you're good to come back to bed and lay down? I can get you tea if you want?"

"I think so, that would be nice" she had never been this thankful for his will to always take care of her when she wasn't feeling like her normal self "this flight really took a toll on me… I don't think I've ever felt this sick after flying commercial" she chuckled, remembering all the worse flights she had been on during her deployments "You were fine last night though during our… activities…" he smirked.

"Well…you must've done good work then" she smirked right back at him with a wink. "I don't know it seems to be only in the mornings, I had it yesterday morning when we left California, too…" she answered and just as she realized what she had just said, she found Steve looking at her with his eyes wide open. "Cath…" he said, shock clearly in his demeanor, "Should we… uhm… should we like, I don't know, get a test?"

Catherine shrugged her shoulders, unsure if she was prepared for either answer that test would give them. After giving it a minute of though, she finally nodded, unable to put her answer in words right now.

Fourty-Five minutes later they found themselves in Steve's truck on the way back from Walgreens.

They had barely said any words during their trip to the store when Steve reached out to place his right hand on her thigh and squeezed it. "You know it's gonna be alright, right?" he looked over, forcing a smile in her direction. "Yeah" Catherine whispered "it's just a VERY weird feeling" she chuckled, unsure if she really wanted to laugh right now.

"Have you ever taken one before?" Steve asked curiously "... a pregnancy test, I mean?" "Nope" she answered plainly "I mean I'd be lying if I told you I never once thought I was pregnant before" she chuckled to try and lighten the mood but could see that Steve's look never changed, and even if, there was only more curiosity in it. "wait... are you serious? I didn't know that. I mean I thought you'd at least tell me?!" he let out a little more upset than he meant to.

"Steve, trust me. Every girl thinks their pregnant from time to time" she let out a little laugh, not wanting to start a fight right now "it's normal…we freak out and then we get our period, it's no big deal" She smiled. Catherine could see Steve cringe at the word period and laughed out loud at his reaction "oh my god, Sailor, are you serious? You know if you actually did knock me up here you're in for a lot more than..." "okay, okay." he interrupted as he raised both his hands, asking her to stop and continuing with a smile on his face "we don't need to get in to that right now" he pleaded.

Catherine rolled her eyes at him "you're unbelievable" she concluded as Steve parked the truck and put it in park.

Steve sat nervously on the bed as he waited for Catherine to come out of the bathroom, rubbing his hands together and wiggling with his feet. The last time he had felt this nervous was the day he decided he was going to propose to Catherine, as he drove home from 5-0 Headquarters only to find her sitting on the porch.

Just then, Catherine opened the door and motioned for him to come inside, snapping him out of his thoughts "these are gonna be the longest three minutes of our life" she chuckled as she pulled him in for a hug.

"What if it's positive?" she mumbled in to his shirt, "what if it's negative?" he answered while resting his chin on top of her head, holding her tight.

They stayed like that for what felt like an hour when finally Catherine's phone buzzed as the alarm went off. She slightly pulled away from his embrace to look in to his eyes "you ready?" she asked,

Déjà vu hitting both of them, as Steve absentmindedly reached his hand out and silently asked her to put hers in to his. "Yeah" he answered, just like he had two and a half weeks ago when both their lives changed forever.

Catherine took a quick look at the pregnancy test and slowly set it back down again, tears filling her eyes as she looked back at him. Steve could feel all his emotions bottling up at the sheer thought of having a baby with Catherine - the second he saw her eyes, his began dwelling up as well. "What is it?" he whispered.

"It's...uhm..." she inhaled deeply "it's positive" she cried "it's positive Steve!" she said louder, cupping her mouth with the hand that was not holding the stick, overflowed with emotions.

"It's positive?" he asked, mouth hanging wide open, unsure if he heard correctly. "Oh my God, Cath." he said calmly, looking at her like he had just seen a ghost.

"You're gonna be a dad!" she exclaimed between laughs and tears now uncontrollably rolling down her cheeks.

"I'm gonna be a dad!" he repeated slowly, and Catherine could see that reality was now hitting him in full force.

The corner of his mouth formed in to the biggest smile that she had ever seen on his face, and didn't even come close to any genuine smile she had seen on his face over the past twenty years.

He made quickly made his way over to her and placed both hands on either side of her hips, before he pulled her closer, lead her out of the bathroom and spun her around in their bedroom, with tears of joy now rolling down their eyes.

When he sat her back down, placed her feet on the ground and interlocked his fingers behind the small of her back, he kissed her passionately.

"You're gonna be a mom" he whispered after another deep kiss, locking his eyes on hers, entirely in awe of what they had just found out.

"We're gonna have a baby" she smiled at him, "We're gonna have a baby" he repeated, words barely a whisper as he kissed her again

"This is the best day ever" he concluded and carried her over to the bed, crawling on top of her and ended their conversation in the most intimate, and wonderful way he knew – showing her just how good this day really was.
