The Long War
Fighters deploy in groups of two,
Through the vacuum they soar through.
Federation, Conglomeration,
Both sides seek annihilation.
…
Uncounted species fill the ranks.
Man starships, fighters, bombers, tanks.
More weapons are deployed on field,
As both sides still refuse to yield.
…
So long ago began this war,
None really know what they fight for.
Some conjure reasons as to why,
But these reasons join the older lies.
…
Even now the war still spreads.
The galaxy has long known dread.
It brings its children little mirth,
To know it's reached a world called Earth.
…
But for now, a battle in the dark.
Fire, fury, missiles, sparks.
In this war neither side can best.
But death? Dulce et decorum est.
