Astrid's POV (the chase)
Today is great. So far, I've been paired with the Snots and my pet/best friend (don't tell Camicazi) has decided to rampage the school within lesson time. Superb. Stormfly takes a sharp left turn and I nearly crash into a wall. Through the quad, up past French and down the corridor. And just my luck, she stops right outside Mr Gardener's office. Joy.
"Come one girl" I whisper to the delinquent monkey. "Shh, it's OK. We need you to get back in my-"
She bolts. Left again. Towards the pastoral office. Hmm.
"Come on!" I say to Hiccup who appears to have his own problems with a rat. We burst into the hall - where our PE lesson is happening - and through the other side into a corridor. And finally, into the quad. Hiccup's rat is sitting next to Stormfly on - the roof?! I take another look and realise that what I assumed is the immediate room is actually an overhang next to the big shelters which are used to keep the rain off students in the winter. There's only one way up - climbing. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. I hop onto the railings and start to scramble onto the roof. This day is mad. My parents are going to kill me.
Book Hiccup's POV (da da da...we're dead)
Wodensfang and Astrid's monkey are sitting on the roof, they look like they've done something naughty and have a cheeky grin on their faces. This is what I'd expect from Toothless (what? It's a good name, OK?), actually, this would be greatly subdued behaviour if this was Toothless. But Wodensfang? He's never like this!
Oh dang it!
I mentally slap myself. I've just remembered that I accidentally gave him sugar this morning! I discovered he reacts like this to sugar sometime last year, and that time he managed to set fire to the carpet, (ok, maybe he had a little help from Toothless). I'm not sure how he did it, but there must have been a match somewhere close by, and rats are very intelligent beings. I just hope he doesn't do something similarly as drastic here at school, with someone else's pet. He seems to be...plotting? With Stormfly, most likely for a raid of the canteen, judging by the sounds they are making, which in my experience indicate food. Astrid is almost on the roof and I follow up after her.
As she scrambles onto the roof of the building and is about to get her monkey within her grasp, suddenly a teacher enters the quad. She's frozen in the act as said teacher makes his way towards us, a displeased expression on his face.
It's Mr Gardener. Oh dear oh dear oh dear. This day couldn't get any worse! I think to myself as Mr Gardner comes closer towards us, really really angry. I'm not surprised. He just spotted two children on the roof of the school - with their pets. Not good for us, definitely not good at all!
