AUTHOR'S NOTE AND DISCLAIMER:
Sadly, we still don't own these characters as they belong to Cressida Cowell and Dreamworks, we hope you enjoy the next instalment of our fanfiction now that things are happening! Please review.
Astrid's POV(really terrible cover stories)
Oh drat. Drat, drat, drat. We're literally dead - Mr Gardener is terrifying. Also mad at us right now. Why did I bring Stormfly into school? We're going to be in detention for years. I don't think anyone has ever done this before. There is no way we can get out of this - he is literally right there and we are very obviously on the roof. He shouts up to us,
"WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING, CLIMBING ON THE ROOF, GET DOWN HERE NOW!"
I think he saw us. All thoughts of hiding are gone and my brain goes into scheming mode. How can we pass this off with minimal death via mad teacher? Ok, there's one idea. It won't work, but:
"Sorry, Sir! We saw them running away and, erm, thought we should try to catch them in case someone had a fur allergy." Mr Gardner looks sceptical. "That's the job of the site manager," he says. Behind him, some other students walk into the courtyard to see what the commotion is.
"We didn't think of that, just that some people have serious allergies and it would be best to catch the animals as fast as we can!" I add.
He purses his lips "You two, my office, now!" he says. The students snigger and he turns sharply. "And you lot! Back to class now before you join them in detention."
I hang my head and start to climb down. Stormfly takes this wonderful opportunity to be friendly with me - she jumps down and wraps herself around my neck. This does not help my cover story and Mr Gardner definitely agrees with me on that one. Drat.
Book Hiccup's POV(the lecture)
Oh suffering scallops I think this is an awful day! Wodensfang senses that it's not funny anymore (not that it was funny before) and crawls back into my shirt pocket. Thankfully, his sugar rush has worn off by now, so he won't be exploding around Mr Gardner's office. That would be extremely bad! The students hanging around the quad start to disperse, and we sullenly trudge towards the pastoral office. My father is going to kill me when he finds out! By the looks of it, so are Astrid's parents. We're invited to sit in the chairs opposite to the teachers desk. Mr Gardener sits down at the desk and starts to speak.
"What in the world possessed you to act on this flagrant disregard of our school rules?" he says, making an effort to keep calm, although he plainly wants to shout, I'm not surprised.
"Honestly! I would never have expected a student to behave so ridiculously! Least of all you two! What got into you? Bringing your pets to school? (ah...I see he saw through Astrid's cover story...to be fair, our pets aren't helping in that matter) Letting them run amok? Climbing on the school roof? I would never have expected anyone to behave like that!" Mr Gardner sits back down on his chair, making an effort to compose himself, then he starts speaking again.
"Your parents will of course have to be informed of this discrepancy and I will have to give both of you a suitable punishment for your acts of disobedience!" I gulp. I really hope we don't get in too much trouble for this. Oh..who am I kidding? Of course we're going to get in serious trouble! I mean, we were on the roof! With our pets! Which are strictly not allowed at this school!
OK, calm down Hiccup I tell myself You will get nowhere if you decide to freak out and panic about it!. "I hope you both know that your actions are not tolerated in this school and because of that, it is my duty to punish you to maintain a proper regard for the rules within this school" Mr Gardner continues, rubbing it in "I also hope you realise that the school rules must be obeyed at all times when within the school's premises, or outside the school boundaries for that matter!"
I find myself wondering whether the twins have to sit through this speech daily, or whether they've been in trouble so many times before, Mr Gardner just skips the speech altogether. The twins have probably memorised it after 2 years of hearing it daily!
