It was a week later when Simon knocked on the front door of the Gibbs family.

"Hey doc what brings you here? Something I can do for you?" Gibbs asked when he opens the door.

"Hello Jethro can I come inside?"

"Uhm sure." Gibbs leads him to the kitchen where he offered him a drink. "So what brings you here?"

"Your son stitches need to come out. I thought it would be more comfortable for him if I did it here."

"You might be right. But that is not the only reason you are here right?"

"No you are right. I had a conversation with my nephew after the arrest. I don't know if Tony told you but the boys were in a fight with Max. Apparently Max didn't approve of Tony when they asked him to play. Max pushed Tony on the basketball court. That is why Tony fell. Max started the fight in the bar because his friends chose Tony over him."

Gibbs sighs. "Tony told me part of it but not that he was the reason they were fighting."

"I had a feeling. My brother did the same thing if you remembered. At home he didn't talk about it, only parts of it." Simon said sadly.

"He was a good man your brother. Always looking out for his friends. What I heard about your nephew he is the same."

Simon smiled. "Yes they are a lot alike. I took care of my little brother when he was little when our parents died and now I am taking care of his son who is so much alike him."

They were silent for a moment.

"Jethro I also came here for your advice."

Gibbs looked confused. "Advice about what?"

"Well more curious about how you do it. You adopted Tony right? How old was he?"

"Uhmm he was a teenager." Gibbs said. He didn't knew what else to say.

"So we adopted our sons at a same age. How do you discipline Tony now? I mean I was never good at discipline kids. Oscar is an adult now even if he still acts like a kid. How do you still make him listen to what you say? I grounded him for one week after the arrest. He hasn't talk to me like he used to do. I think I made a mistake." Simon said sadly.

Gibbs thought for a moment before he leans forward. "I still discipline Tony if it's necessary, but I always let him know why. Let him know I care about him. A lot of adopted children think they don't belong. They need to know no matter what happend you still care about them."

Simon looked shocked. "I said I was disappointed in him! What must he think of me?"

"You have to talk to him. Let him know what your thoughts were at that moment. I still make mistakes. Tony didn't came from a happy childhood. So he doesn't always understand if we say something like that. He will think the worst. I think maybe Oscar thinks you don't want him anymore. It's the worst nightmare of adopted children."

Simon smiled and stood up. "Thanks Jethro. I appreciate you telling me this. There are not a lot parents of adopted children in this town to ask for advice."

"You are welcome doc." Gibbs said and also stood up.

"Well let's take care of your son now before I go to mine."

"He is in the backyard. I will lead you to him. Tony was also grounded." Gibbs said with a smile.

Tony was shooting hoops. "Tony." Gibbs said from the doorway.

Tony looked up. "Hey dad and... Doctor Simon? Why are you here?" Tony asked afraid.

"Hello Tony. I see the hand is working good. I'm here to get those stitches out." Simon said kindly.

"Oh... oh uhm yeah hand is fine and good they are itchy."

"Well let's go inside then. I take them out there." Simon said and Tony followed. Gibbs watched as Simon begins to work.

"So all done and it looks good. Be good for your dad now. I have to go home. Thanks again Jethro."

"You too doc." Gibbs said and Simon left.

Tony looked curiously. "Why did he thank you?"

Gibbs sat down next to Tony. "You knew that Oscar's dad died when he was 14?"

Tony shook his head. "No, I did not know that. But I had an idea when his uncle picked him up."

"Simon took care of him ever since. Simon used to take care of his little brother too when their parents died. There was a big age difference between them. He came here to ask for advice. There is no one in this town who adopted a child when they were already a teenager. Oscar is much alike his father used to be."

"Ah oh what did you tell him? I mean you didn't really adopt me or raised me from a teenage age." Tony asked curiously.

"No I had the experience from different ages from you." Gibbs said with a smile. "But I told him what you need to hear to let you understand. Just a parent to a parent conversation."

"Oh.."

"But Simon told me something interesting. Apparently you were the reason Max started the fight. And it all began when you met them and played basketball with them. You didn't just fell, he pushed you, like he did in the pub. Why didn't you tell me any of those things?"

"Dad it's not a big deal. He was just jealous. That is his problem." Tony said and rolled his eyes.

Gibbs held Tony's chin. "If it was not a big of a deal then why didn't you say anything?"

"I just met them. I made friends. I didn't want to cause problems. Besides if you knew you would go after him and did a background check."

Gibbs leans back and crossed his arms. Tony had a point. "Still you could tell me you were pushed and not just fell. You lied to a doctor. So you were already grounded..."

"Daaaaad I will never life again if you ground me again. Besides we have to go back tomorrow." Tony said.

"I talked to the director and Ducky. We stay here for another week. So you can go outside but you will help dad in the store for a few hours till the end of the week."

"You can't be serious. Wait a minute. Why can we stay here for another week?"

"Because you had a flashback last week and your emotions were all over the place. Ducky agreed to take another week of rest." Gibbs said and went to the kitchen for some coffee.

Tony soon followed. "You didn't had to tell him that. It was one day."

"He needs to clear you so you have to listen besides what's the problem? You can spent another week here."

"That is not a problem. I just don't want everyone to know everything." Tony said angry and crossed his arms.

"Not everyone knows. Just Ducky and he only knows about the flashback. Now come on. Time for you to work in the store." Gibbs said and Tony sighs.

————————————

It was almost time to close the store and Gibbs decided to help to clean up when a customer stepped inside the store.

"Josh what a pleasant surprise. I was just about to close the store." Jackson said.

"I'm sorry to step in so late mr Gibbs. I thought Jethro would be here. I heard he would stay here for another week." Josh (Bruce father) said.

"You heard right. What can I do for you Josh?" Gibbs asked.

"Can we talk for a minute in private?" Josh asked.

"Uhm sure why don't we go outside." Gibbs said and Josh followed him outside. Together they walked to a nearby park and sat on a bench.

Tony looked curiously through the window. What was going on? He thought.

"Tony the store will not clean it self." Jackson said.

"Who is he? I saw him at the police station." Tony asked as he cleaned distracted.

"Josh. Bruce his father. Your dad and he were good friends in the days. Played in the same team." Jackson said.

"Do you know why he wants to talk to dad?" Tony asked and looked out of the window one more time but didn't see them.

"Nope. It is something private as you heard. Now stop asking questions and clean up." Jackson said and gave Tony a stern look.

————————————

"So what's going on Josh?" Gibbs asked curiously.

Josh sighs. "I talked to Simon today. He told me about the situation he had with Oscar and that he asked you for advice."

"Yeah. Did it work?" Gibbs wanted to know.

"Yeah it did and that made me think. Simon never had an easy life. Remember when he took care of Patrick when their parents died."

"He was in medical school at the time and took care of his little brother." Gibbs said sadly.

"Yes talking about multitasking. And now he had to take care of Oscar. Simon just took it all in. He never had help. I know it's a little late and he is grown up now but maybe we could do some bonding and give him some tools he could use."

"What had you in mind?" Gibbs asked curiously.

"I thought why don't we go camping like our father's did with us when we were kids. Simon needs a break from work and maybe he can learn something from me with a child by blood and you a child you adopted. He has a combi if you look at it." Josh said with a smile.

Gibbs laughed. "I can see your point in the combi. Alright I'm in. It also gives us time for bondig and our son's are friends so that would not be a problem."

"Yes Bruce and Oscar are friends since kindergarten and they told me they liked Tony the moment they met him. So what you say we go tomorrow morning?"

"That would be fine."

"Great! I will tell Simon now. 8 o'clock my place okay." Josh said excited and stood up to leave.

"Alright see you then". Gibbs said and also stood up to leave they said their goodbyes.
