It was 3am on a Wednesday morning, and Jack and Ianto had just got back from a Weevil hunt. As they stood in Jack's office, the older man turned to look at the Welshman, a serious look on his face. "Would you die for me, Ianto?"
"In a heartbeat." Came the quick reply.
Jack half smiled
Ianto looked shocked. "Why? Are you thinking of killing me?" He forced a smile.
"Yes."
Ianto moved closer to his lover. "I...I thought you loved me!"
Jack placed his hands on Ianto's upper arms. "I do."
"But you want to kill me?"
"Wouldn't you like to spend an eternity with me, Ianto?"
Ianto shook his head. "We both know that will never happen."
Jack moved to stand at his desk. "It could."
'How?"
"I've been drawing my blood for the last few weeks."
Ianto's eyes narrowed. "So?"
"My blood could be the answer."
"And you're willing to kill me to see if it works?" He shook his head. "That's the craziest thing I've heard come out of your mouth in a while."
"But it could work, Ianto. You'd be with me forever!"
"Or I could die!" He turned his back on the immortal. "I don't want to die, Jack!"
Jack moved to sit on the edge of his desk. "I'm not going to risk killing you. I'd maybe shoot you in the arm or leg first. See if you healed straight away."
Ianto sighed. "I'm not sure, Jack."
Jack moved close to Ianto. "Think about it, okay?"
Ianto shook his head slowly. "I can't promise you anything."
Jack nodded, placing his had on Ianto's shoulder. "That's all I ask."
