It was a week later and Gibbs and Tony hadn't talked about that day again. Besides Tony has been quieter the past week. He hoped is was nothing to worry about but Gibbs being Gibbs he was always worried.

"Have you noticed something different about Ducky?" Kate asked in the bullpen.

"What you mean?" McGee asked.

"He is happier. Always smiling." Tony said.

"Yes that." Kate said.

"Oh that. Yes that I noticed. Maybe he is in love? I mean Tony always has that smile on his face when he is in love." Tony threw a paper ball against Tim's head. "Oww". Kate smiled.

"You got a point." Kate said and grinned.

"So who is it?" Tony asked.

"Who is what?" Gibbs asked when he enters the bullpen.

"Ducky's new love." Tony told him.

"Ah you noticed." Gibbs said.

"You know something Gibbs?" Kate asked.

"Nope but you could ask him yourself." Gibbs said.

Ducky walked to Gibbs desk. "The autopsy report Jethro." Ducky said with a smile.

"Thanks Duck." Gibbs said. The other three team members were staring at Ducky. Ducky looked around.

"Uhmm something wrong my dears?"

"Kate wants to ask you something." Tony said and grinned at Kate who looked angry at him.

"Well Caitlin?" Ducky asked as he walked to her desk.

"Oh it's just... you look happy... happier" she corrected. "We were just wondering if there was a reason for that."

Tony and Tim looked at Kate and shook their heads.

"They want to know about your new love Duck." Gibbs said blunt.

"That was not..." Kate begins.

"It was kinda was Kate." Tim said and Tony laughed.

"Ah yes. I am dating someone." Ducky told them.

"Really? What's her name, can we meet her?" Tony asked curiously.

"Seriously Tony he is just dating her." Kate said.

"You are telling me Katie? You were the one who started."

"I was not..."

"You were Kate. I think it began with did anyone noticed something different about Ducky." Tim said.

Kate sighs. "Traitors." She said quietly. "So you have a picture Ducky?"

"Oh uhmm no. But of course you can meet her. She is picking me up for a concert. She could be here any moment." Ducky said with a smile.

Gibbs phone rang, he talked for a minute before he hang up again. "She is here Duck."

"Oh how wonderful." Ducky said.

'DING' a woman stepped out of the elevator.

"Wow Donald it is amazing." Jannis said and gave him a kiss.

"It is isn't it. I want you to meet my colleagues." Ducky said as he leads her to the bullpen.

"Jannis Brooks. This is special agent Caitlin Todd, special agent Timothy McGee, senior special agent Anthony DiNozzo and our lead special agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs." Ducky said as he introduced them. Gibbs looked at them in shock. Why hadn't Ducky told him.

"Nice to meet you all." Jannis said with a smile.

"Indeed it is. So you are the one who stole Ducky's heart." Kate said with a smile.

"Oh Uhmm."

"Sheesh Kate why don't you give her your check list already?" Tony said smiling.

"I don't have a..." she looked at Jannis. "Really I don't.

"No she is just curious." Tim said with a smile.

"My dear boys please." Ducky said.

"Boss you okay?" Tony asked when Gibbs was still staring at Jannis is shock.

Gibbs shook his head. "Uhm Yeah I'm fine Tony."

At that Jannis looked at Tony. Studying him for a moment. She didn't knew this was that Tony. But at Gibbs tone she knew.

"Alright if you say so. So Jannis where did you two meet?" Tony asked.

"Oh we knew each other for a long time. We met at a congress."

"What is your job then?" Tim asked.

"I am a doctor."

"Ah so you speak also doctor language. How is that check list going kate?" Tony asked with a smile.

Kate threw a pen at him. "Hey!" Tony said.

"Kate stop throwing things." Gibbs said as he sighs.

"He ..." Gibbs gave Kate a look. "Fine"

Tony smiled at her and stuck out his tongue.

"Tony" Gibbs warned. "The same goes for you" he told him as he gave him a look.

"Fine. So which concert are you going?" Tony asked curiously.

"The opera and we need to go now or we are going to be late." Ducky said.

Jannis looked at the time. "Oh you are right Donald. Well it was nice to meet you all. Maybe till next time."

Next day Ducky was working in autopsy. Gibbs decided to go to him.

"Why didn't you tell me you were dating her?" Gibbs asked.

"And good morning to you too Jethro."

"Duck." Gibbs warmed.

"What do want me to say Jethro. I has just been a week."

"I know that but a little forewarning would have been nice. Tony has been asking me questions why I had that reaction in the bullpen."

"So what did you tell him?"

"That I knew her and didn't expect her to see."

"And he let it just go?" Ducky asked in disbelief.

"His phone went off and he and Abby talked all night."

"Ah that explains a lot. Don't you have an appointment with her today?"

"Yes. And that wouldn't be awkward at all." Gibbs said.

"You still have to go. I am sorry Jethro that I didn't say anything. But she could really help you both. Look at the last time. Besides now she knows who Tony is for real."

Gibbs and Jannis sat in the office in silence for a few minutes.

"You know we don't come any further if we don't talk. I understand it may be uncomfortable that I am dating Ducky. But I am still here to help you. If you are really uncomfortable with it I could refer you to another colleague of mine."

"No we don't need to do that." Gibbs said softly and thoughtful.

"Alright. What are you thinking about then?"'

"Ducky told me something. That it may help that you know Tony now. Could it be?" Gibbs wanted to know.

"I can't force therapy on him you know. But I can study him. Small hints. Yes it could help but it isn't the same as I would really talk to him."

"He told me what happend 10 years ago. Also told me about his mother. It took some screaming, throwing things but he told me. He has been quiet for a week.

"Didn't seem like that in the office..." Jannis said.

"Masks." Gibbs said with a smile. "He is good at hiding things."

"But you see through it. Can you tell me what Tony told you?"

Gibbs took a deep breath warned her that it wouldn't be pretty and told her the story.

"That's... uhm." Jannis cleared her throat for a moment to be professional again.

"A lot huh. Explains a lot about being insecure. About the nightmares. Who wouldn't have them if you heard this." Gibbs said quietly.

"What did you do after he told you this?" Jannis wanted to know.

"I held him in my arms. Tony held on to me and laid his head on my chest. Told me he loved me and I told him the same."

"So you close the conversation in a good way. That is good. Tony may be quiet because this was the first time he told someone. Now there is an other person who knows his real story. That could be scary for him. It could take some time. Just do what you are always doing Jethro. Let him know you love him and care about him."

"And what if he doesn't change and become quieter?" Gibbs wanted to know.

"You afraid he might hurt himself? Does he has a history of that?" Jannis asked concerned.

"No no. He never did something like that. Just could he become depressive? The nightmares could they get worse?"

"Jethro honey you are overthinking. The overprotective papa bear is coming out. Tony has always bounced back. Telling you his story is something positive. And this is a normal reaction to it. Just talk to him if you are bothered by something. He is the only one who can ease your mind on this subject."

Gibbs sighs. "Fine." He said and looked at the time.

"Jethro do you know if his father is still alive? You said Tony knocked him out. What if..."

"He didn't kill him if that is what you are suggesting. Tony changed cities because his father found him. So..."

"But he never saw him right? After he ran away I mean. He didn't change this city. Do you know where he is?"

"No I promised Tony I wouldn't start looking. Said it could leave a trail and that his father has many puppets who are working for him."

"Alright. I think this is it for today. Look after him Jethro and don't forget to talk to each other." Jannis said and Gibbs rolled his eyes.

Tony and Gibbs were eating dinner. Gibbs was in thoughts and was playing with his food.

"You don't like it?" Tony asked.

"Huh oh no I like it, just that hungry." Gibbs said and begins to eat.

Tony sighs. "What do want to ask?"

Gibbs looked up confused. "What do you mean?"

"Every time you want to ask me something big you are in heavily thoughts or you got that nervous tick. So what do you want to ask?"

Gibbs rolled his eyes. "You know you are too smart for your own good."

"Stop beating around the bush and ask me."

"Alright." Gibbs took a moment before asking the question. "How do you know for sure your father is still looking for you? Do you even know he is still alive?"

Tony stood up and went to his room. "Tony?" Gibbs called after him concerned. When Tony didn't came downstairs in a couple of minutes, Gibbs decided to look for him.

Tony's room was a mess. Tony was turning his room upside down, looking for something. He now lay under his bed.

"Tony what are you doing?" Gibbs asked confused.

"Ah found it." Tony said with a smile. Tony had a little shoebox in his hands.

"What's that?" Gibbs asked as he sat down on the bed.

"Prove" Tony said as he gave him the box.

Gibbs looked into it. There were notes but also newspapers. Gibbs decided to first read the notes. "Tony these are all threats but not only from your father."

"Yeah I know. The others are from his puppets. The last one is from when I was in Baltimore." Tony told him as he sat next to him.

"So that was also a reason you wanted leave. How do you know where he is now? It's been years now since the last threat."

Tony gave him the newspaper. "I know where he is."

"These are recent." Gibbs looked at him. "You tell me not to look for him and you knew all along where he was?"

"Yep keep your friends close but your enemies closer. I know he will be in this newspaper. That is why I know he is still alive. If you would go look for him you would leave a trail. He hasn't found me yet and I like keeping it that way."

"Then how do you know if he has found you? How do you know that he hasn't already?"

Tony struggled. "Most time I noticed because I am being followed. And other times I get those notes. I can never know for sure but that is how it is."

Gibbs was silent for a moment. "Will you tell me when something like that happen? I want to know."

Tony stared at Gibbs for a moment. "Yeah I will tell you dad."

Gibbs ruffled his hair. "Good."

"Can I ask you something else?"

"Uhm sure dad."

"Are you okay? I noticed you have been quiet this week. I was wondering if I could help you with something. Is something bothering you?"

"Since when are you so talker and about feelings? Wait..is this because of that shrink you were seeing?" Tony said smiling.

"Tony." Gibbs warned.

"Is it a he or a she? It must be a good one if he or she could let you talk about feelings."

"It's a she and can we go back to the subject. We were talking about you."

Tony sighs. "I just didn't sleep well this week okay."

"Nightmares?" Gibbs asked concerned.

"Yes. I knew they would come. Always when I think about it or talk about it."

"Why didn't you say?"

"Because you would be concerned and thinking that it was your fault. Dad I will always have them. Sometimes a couple of days, sometimes a week. It will pass."

"Doesn't talk it right. You know you can tell me this kind of things. We had that talk before. Remember just after you changed back. You didn't sleep for days then."

"Dad that was different. Stop being so protective papa bear about everything. It will pass."

"You know I can't stop that." Gibbs said with a smile and lay his arm around Tony's shoulder. "Promise me kid you will tell me when they become too much."

"I promise."

It was three week later. Jackson came to visit and would stay with his son and grandson for a few days. Gibbs decided to organize a barbecue for his father and his team because today would be the last day his father would be here.

"Hey kid, can you help an old man with the tables" Jackson asked when he saw Tony playing a game on his phone.

"Sure grandpa."

'Knock knock' "I will get it" Gibbs said.

"Ducky, Jannis come in." Gibbs said when he opened the door.

"Thank you Jethro." Ducky said as they stepped inside.

"You have a lovely home Jethro." Jannis said.

"Thank you."

"Are we the first to be here?" Ducky asked.

"Yes, the others will be here soon. I..." Gibbs begins but was interrupted by Tony.

"Dad you know where the..." Tony stopped suddenly when he saw Ducky and Jannis standing there in the living room. "Oh Uhmm... I will..." Tony stuttered. He forgot that Gibbs went inside to open the door and now Ducky and Jannis were looking at him.

"Hello Anthony." Ducky said with a smile.

Awkwardly Tony waved at them.

"What were you looking for Tony?" Gibbs asked patiently.

Tony shook his head. Yes focus. That was what he needed. "Oh uhmm the plastic bowls."

"In the kitchen. Come on." Gibbs said and leads him to where they were. "Here you go."

"Yeah thanks uhmm I uhmm go do that uhmm thing" Tony said and quickly walked to the garden where Jackson was.

Jannis looked after Tony. When he was gone she looked at Gibbs.

"Well that was a bit uncomfortable for the boy." Ducky said

"You guys want something to drink?" Gibbs asked.

"Oh yes thank you Jethro but shouldn't someone talk to him?" She asked curiously.

"My dad is in the garden. He will be fine."

"Oh yes Jackson is Jethro's father. A lovely man. That is why we are having this barbecue. How is he?" Ducky asked.

"I am fine Ducky. What was it that I heard? You are dating someone?" Jackson asked when he walked inside and heard Ducky's last sentence.

"Ah hello Jackson. Yes I am. This is Jannis Brooks. Jannis this is Jackson Gibbs. Jethro's father." Ducky said with a smile.

"Nice to meet you Jackson." Jannis said kindly.

"You too. Why don't we sit in the garden. The sun is lovely. And you two need to tell me all about how you two met." Jackson said and leads them to the garden. Gibbs walked after them with their drinks. Outside Tony was on the phone pacing the garden.

"No it's really okay. Don't worry."..." Yes we still will be here"..."no do your thing..." okay bye." Tony said through the phone when he turned around he saw four adults looking at him curiously.

"Uhmm hello?" Tony said.

"Who was on the phone kid." Jackson asked.

"Oh Abby she will be late. She was still running a test or something."

"Oh probably from Pacci's team. They got a case last night." Ducky told them.

"Yes anyway you know how Abby is. Always concerned but she will be here later and we need to save something for her."

"Well that wouldn't be a problem. It's nice she still will come." Jannis said.

"Yes Abby would never miss..." Tony stopped when he saw movement through the kitchen window. Curiously Tony walked to the door.

"What?" Jackson asked.

"Nothing just..." Tony begins as he opened the door. There were Kate and Tim.

"You don't knock anymore? Just open the door?" Tony asked.

"The door is always open Tony." Kate said.

"Not always kate. Not since..." Tim stopped when he enters the garden. "Oh hello." He said when he saw Jennis.

"Alright not always anymore. But anyway we knocked but no one answered and the door was open. Where is Abby?" Kate asked.

"Late. Was still running a test." Tony told them.

"Shell I start the barbecue?" Gibbs asked and the others nodded. Abby came two hours later. It was a nice evening. Everyone had a good time and was laughing and telling each other stories.

Jannis found it an interesting group of people. They were a team but also friends and family.

But the most interesting of them all was of course Tony.

It was getting colder outside and Tony went inside to get a sweater. A few minutes later Jannis said she needed to go to the bathroom. Maybe this would be a good time to talk to Tony.

Tony just came downstairs where he met Jannis. "Uhmm are you looking for something?" He asked curiously.

"Oh I was looking for the bathroom but then I got distracted by the house. It is really a lovely house." Jannis told him.

"Uhmm yes. Gibbs made most of the things here. Really homey."

"Is that why you live here?"

"Uhmm why do you ask? Who told you..."

"A lot of your things are laying around the house."

"How so?"

"If I know Jethro a bit he is a simple type. Excuse me if I am wrong but some of those magazines or technology are not screaming Gibbs."

Tony laughed. "Yeah you got a point there"

"You like living around here? He is your family is he not?"

Tony looked at her curiously. "Why are you asking those questions? And how do you come by those questions? Nobody told you those things."

"You are an investigator. Like you, it is also my job to observe things."

"Yeah on a human body. Not around a house."

"My job is to look at the bigger picture."

Tony shook his head. "The bathroom is the next door to your right." Tony thought for a moment while he walked away. "Wait a minute what kind of doctor are you?" He asked when Jannis opened the bathroom door. Jannis just smiled and closed the door.

Thoughtful he walked back to the garden and sat down with a beer in his hand.

Next morning

"Well Jannis seems like a lovely woman for Ducky. Didn't knew he had it in him." Jackson said.

"Ah ha " both Gibbs and Tony said. Both in their own thoughts about that woman.

"Well you both are talkative this morning."

"Uhm sorry grandpa. Do you want to do something special today?" Tony asked.

"Don't worry about it kid and what did you had in mind?" Jackson asked curiously.

Tony looked questionable at Gibbs if he knew something. "We could go to the lake and do some fishing?" Gibbs said.

"Ah yes. We also take some food with us for a picknic." Jackson said with as smile and cleared the table. When he was done he looked at Gibbs and Tony.

"What are you both waiting for? Get your things. I will do the food."

Tony and Gibbs looked at each other before they rolled their eyes and stood up.

It took less than 20 minutes before Tony decided that he had enough of fishing. Patient was not his best quality when it comes to fishing. Both Jackson and Gibbs had to laugh at that. Gibbs told him to go for a swim but on the other side of the lake so they still could catch some fish.

"Fine see you later." Tony said and ran to the water. He needed to lose his energy. Both Jackson and Gibbs shook their heads.

"So what do you have against Jannis?" Jackson asked after a couple of minutes.

"What you mean? I have nothing against her. I am happy for Ducky." Gibbs told him.

Jackson raised an eyebrow. "You sure? Then why the awkwardness when you talk to her and not looking her in the eye?"

Gibbs sighs. "Of course you noticed" he mutters. "She is a doctor." He finally said.

"Yes she told me. That's how Ducky and she met. Ducky is a doctor. You don't have a problem with him."

"No I don't got a... she is a head doctor..." Gibbs hints.

"Oh. I still don't..." Jackson looked at him suddenly. "Don't tell me she is your... you were seeing her?" He asked in disbelief.

"Yes. Ducky already knew her, he made that appointment and after he had the appointment he had set a date with her." Gibbs said.

Jackson looked at him before he laughed so hard that he had tears in his eyes. "Ducky Ducky that old man. Make it a win win for him."

"Dad it's not funny."

"You sure? But now I understand the awkwardness."

"Thank you." Gibbs said dramatic.

"Does Tony know?" Jackson asked as he watches Tony who was coming out of the water.

"No. Not that I know. Why do you ask?"

Jackson looked at his son again. "They were both inside. And it wouldn't take that long to put on a shirt or to go to the bathroom. They talked. He wouldn't look at her when he came outside. Something happend."

"What happend?" Tony asked when he heard the last sentence.

Gibbs looked at his father questionable. His father gave him a look to ask him.

Gibbs sighs. "Yesterday. When you and Jannis were inside. You were talkative before you went inside and when you came back you weren't anymore."

"Oh uhm" Tony sat down and grabbed a towel. "You know what kind of work she does?"

"You tell me" Gibbs said.

"She said doctor but she was looking around the house thoughtful and then asked me those questions if I like living here and all that kind. It was weird. She said it was her job to observe like it was my job to investigate. So I said yes on a human body but then she said she was looking at the bigger picture. I thought she was like Ducky but now I am not so sure. You noticed right?" Tony asked Gibbs.

Gibbs looked at the sky. Here we go he thought. His father was right. "She is a shrink."

"A shrink??? How do you...NO... Don't tell me... does Ducky know?"

"Of course he knows he was the one who set this up."

Tony laughed for a moment. "Man and I thought my life could be weird."

Gibbs gave him a headslap. "I didn't knew till Ducky introduced her to us in the bullpen."

"Wait a minute?" Tony said shocked and stood up. "You let a shrink in the house to who you talk about..."

"Tony calm down. I didn't knew she would talk to you about those things."

"Your dad is right kid. Sit down. We know you don't like shrinks but you can't forget she is also Ducky's love. Besides she is good. She helped you two talk didn't she?" Jackson said.

"Dad..." Gibbs said.

"What? Maybe now that you know and you both know her on a personal level you can do the therapy together. It would be good for you both." Jackson said.

"So now that I know a shrink on a personal level and is Ducky's love I need to see her and talk to her? No way." Tony said.

Jackson wanted so say something but Gibbs stopped him. "Dad leave it."

"Fine. Time for lunch? I made something you would like kid." Jackson said with a smile.

Tony smiled back and helped his grandfather.

After the picnic they decided to go home. Tony offered to bring his grandfather to the airport. When they left, Gibbs stepped in his own car. He had another appointed with who he needed to speak now.

'KNOCK KNOCK' "Jethro what are you doing here? Something wrong?" Ducky asked when he opened his front door.

"Is Jannis with you?" Gibbs asked impatiently.

"Yes she is, why do you..." Ducky couldn't finish because Gibbs already stepped inside the house and went looking for Jannis who sat in the living room.

"Oh Jethro what are you doing here?" Jannis asked when she saw Gibbs.

"I never gave you permission to approach Tony and to talk to him about things." Gibbs said angry.

"Jethro what are you talking about?" Ducky asked confused.

"Yesterday she approach Tony when he was inside! Questioned him."

"Jannis?" Ducky questioned.

"Jethro honey you need to calm down. Why are you so upset. I talked to him yes a small question if he liked it here. Nothing deep. Simple observing what we talked about."

"He knows who you are now. That was not the plan. He accused me of letting a shrink come inside the house. My father could talk him out of his anger to say you were Ducky's date."

"Jethro he would know sooner or later. Maybe it's good he knows now. No secrets." Ducky said calmly.

Gibbs looked at Jannis. "Donald could you get us something to drink?" She winks.

"Oh uhm yes." Ducky said as he got the hint and left the room.

"Jethro this is the overprotective papa bear we were talking about. Tony knowing this is not something bad. It's a normal reaction Tony had. You know Tony the best but I think he was handling it pretty well. Was he still mad after you talked about it?"

"No he was... no he was normal. Like he always is." Gibbs said softly when he thought about it. Shit he was making a fool of himself here.

"Don't beat yourself up about it. It's a normal reaction for a parent Jethro."

Gibbs looked at her doubtful. "Yeah of course every parent will storm in his friends house to question his shrink. Yeah pretty normal."

Jannis laughed. "Well I have seen enough in my life. So yes this is normal."

Gibbs laughed at that. "I'm sorry Jannis."

"No need to apologize. But I like to ask you a question now. Do you think Tony will let me come to your house so we could talk? The three of us?"
