Assignment 3: Calligraphy: The Dark Lady: Task 3 - Parchment: Write about an important document/letter
"Now, aren't we an odd couple!" Harry said, looking at Hedwig. She hooted in response, and hopped out of her cage, tilting her head as if she was reading the words on the parchment Harry had in front of him.
"Hoot hoot," Hedwig said, trying to get him to give her a treat.
"Now, now, girl, just a second, this could be a very important letter," Harry said.
Of course he would recognize the handwriting of that Slytherin prat, even without the Malfoy insignia stamped onto the parchment. Harry read the letter out loud, as if having Hedwig as a witness would make it seem more real. He had not expected to receive a letter, even through his testimony had stopped Draco from being locked up. After all, who would have thought the Slytherin would be thankful for his help? Lucius was in jail because of him.
Harry Potter,
I would just like to have it stated that for the record, I am thankful for your help in testifying on my behalf. I know you need not have done that, and despite us being at odds sometimes, I appreciate your honour in saving me from the fate that has befallen my father. I do not hold you responsible for what happened to him, we all made our choices, and I will need to live with mine for the rest of my life.
PS. If you would be willing to let bygones be bygones, I think it would be nice for us to start afresh, perhaps dinner at my new place? (I realise the old one would have some bad memories, it does for both of us.)
Kind regards,
Draco Malfoy.
Harry smiled. "Well, I must say, Hedwig, I never thought I would hear him say that." Hedwig tilted her head again, and ruffled her feathers. It was as if she knew Harry was about to send a reply to Draco. He fed her a treat, before grabbing a blank piece of parchment and a quill. He sat with the back of the quill in his mouth, carefully pondering his response. After all, it wasn't every day one could potentially become friends with one's childhood crush, even if you did manage to save his life.
