Chapter Four
Fire and Floods
He sat a silent vigil with his lost clan mates next to Duskkit. He just stared up at silverpelt willing Starclan to protect his clan and give him guidance through this tough time. He must've fallen asleep because silverpelt was no longer in the sky. He sighed and started to bury his clan mates. It took seven days to bury everyone the hardest ones being his parents and Duskkit. Seven days of loneliness and tears but he did it and now pawsore and miserable he lay down next to Duskkit's grave and asked Starclan for advice. In his dream he heard his clan all around him but one voice in particular was the strongest, it was Lionstar. "My son you must be brave and find a new clan to live in until your big and strong enough to reclaim the forest and rebuild Duskclan. Now go my son." He woke up feeling a little less sad and asking that Starclan keep the forest safe he left his forest home following the river. He traveled until the trees thinned and the river got faster and rougher, until his wounds that he tried to keep clean became infected. He traveled until he had to stop and rest. As he was sitting there a storm started up, lightning flashed and thunder boomed. It started to downpour and fill the river, with wide scared eyes he ran just as a tree was lit on fire by a bolt of thunder. The tree fell onto another tree and lit it on fire and it went on until their was a forest fire. Reaperpaw could feel the intense heat even through his rain drenched coat. This made him run even faster in terror. The ground became muddy and hard to run in and the river was swelling dangerously close to the shore. Suddenly the river flooded and Reaperpaw was suddenly fighting to keep his head above water. He tried to grab floating objects to help keep him afloat, but to no avail he went under then everything went black. "Don't give up now big bwother." "Stay strong my son." "Keep fighting my brave little son," "You can do it grandson." He heard all of his family's voices in his head. "I didn't train you just so a flood could beat you" So many voices as he tried to swim back to the surface. He felt solid ground beneath his paws and collapsed.
