Chapter 12
Defending the kits and Specklepaw's fall
He was hunting with Specklepaw when they heard fearful mewing and growling. They discovered a badger had somehow broken into the nursery and leaning threateningly over Ebonykit and her siblings. Reaperpaw yowled a battle cry and leaped at the badger and slashed it sides while Specklepaw slashed it's back. The badger swiped at Reaperpaw's head but missed due to Reaperpaw ducking away but hit Specklepaw as she swiped at it's ears, she got up and jumped on it's back while Reaperpaw was underneath and battering it's belly with his hind legs. Specklepaw was ripped off the badger's back and before he could save her from the badger's jaws, Specklepaw who was clawing the badger's throat fur was killed and he slashed the badger's belly just as reinforcements arrived in the form of the other apprentices,Blacknight and Falconwind. The badger was chased off after putting up a good fight but they lost Specklepaw that day, they did save the kits though and after patching up the hole that the badger made Reaperpaw hoped that tomorrow looked brighter.
