Chapter 14

Visions, Omens and Nightmares

It was a normal Greenleaf day and Reaperpaw was getting a drink after training with Falconwind. As he stared at the water he saw a cat that looked like Mothclaw behind him with his claws out, when he looked behind him there was nothing there. He looked around confused and heard Duskkit's voice in his head. "That was a vision bwother, to warn you about Mothclaw" He looked up at the sky and smiled Thank's Duskkit, I'll be careful. He thought. Why would Duskkit warn me about Mothclaw? Then he remembered that Starclan gave him a prophecy a while back. Maybe that had something to do with it. That night he dreamed of a shadow that drowned kits and left mothers weeping, he watched as even Ebonykit and her siblings were drowned in this shadow never to be seen again. He woke up wide eyed and freaked out. He sighed and went out to watch the stars and calm down. Surprisingly Otterpaw came out to join him. "Did you have another nightmare?" She asked as she too looked at the stars. "Yeah but it wasn't the usual one. It was different this time." "How so?" She asked, so Reaperpaw told her about his nightmare. "Do you think Starclan is trying to tell you something? She asked again. "I think they are but I can't understand what." He half lied. He then got an omen as he continued to watch the stars. A group of moths eating every cat in their path while a cat made out of birch bark and a cat made out of maple leaves watched on with out moving. Beware young Reaperpaw beware the three! He shivered and noticed he was alone, Otterpaw must've gone back to her nest. He thought, he then heard movement close by. He sniffed and found that it was just Maplenose guarding the camp's entrance. He decided to go back to his nest and his friends, feeling lonely and a bit unnerved about Maplenose's gaze on him. Once he was in the den he curled up in his nest and sighed softly feeling safe with Leafpaw on one side and Otterpaw on the other and Beaverpaw and Chestnutpaw next to Otterpaw. He fell asleep soon after.
