Who Is In Control
AN: The final conflict.
The Alaskan wilderness passed by in a blur as she pushed herself onward with everything she had. She could see him, just around the corner, always just visible. She was getting closer, but she didn't know if she would catch up in time. The only thing on her mind being that she needed to end the threat. And Tanya. Tanya never left her mind. Bella had been so scared of not remembering her life before, but when she had awakened everything was there, maybe a little muddled by human vision, but perfectly clear to Bella. She remembered the first time she saw the Cullens. She remembered her friends at school. She remembered her father, poor Charlie. Most of all, she remembered Tanya, her mate.
The fire inside her chest burned brighter, pushing Bella to go faster. She had to catch him. End him. She didn't want to become a killer, just because he was doesn't mean she has to be. Bella was nothing like Edward, and she'd be damned if he succeeded in changing her. However, it was clear now that she had been wrong when she didn't kill him after she had awakened from the change. He was going to stop at nothing, so Bella needed to be the one to take care of him.
The forest was starting to thin out and it was the chance Bella needed. She sprinted forward, using a fallen tree to gain some height as she used all her strength to jump up into the air, falling straight onto Edward's back as she came down. She locked her arms around his neck, choking him as he ran. Her new born strength gave her the advantage now that she was in contact with Edward. With all her might she held on, her arms tightening further as she could hear the cracking of marble skin.
The vision hit Alice with all the strength of a wrecking ball, and before she could warn anybody she slipped into the scene.
A clearing appeared through the forest.
Alice was there with the rest of the family, spread out around the circle with the Denali clan.
Tanya was standing in the middle of the circle. Waiting.
They were all waiting. It's an ambush.
Suddenly crashing comes from in front of them, heading in their direction. They get ready.
A tree crashes down as a mass of limbs rolls into the clearing. It's Bella and Edward. They're fighting.
Alice blinks and the vision is gone, and she's back in the house, Jasper at her side as the rest of the Cullens wait for her to share.
"I know where they'll be! They're fighting each other! The sire's bond didn't work!" Alice cheered, already exiting the house to find Tanya. This was their chance to set things right. She'd be damned if she let her family mess it up again. They needed to stop Edward.
Bella wrestled to find her footing but every time she thought she had it Edward would twist or turn and they'd be right back to tumbling through the forest. It seemed anytime she thought she was getting the upper hand Edward knew and did something to counteract it. He had a hundred years on her, but her brute strength put them at an impasse. They were equals in this fight.
Pain radiates down her left side as he sinks his teeth into her side. She rips his head from her side, breaking his bite, and delivers a severe blow to the back of his neck with her elbow. He stumbles back and Bella is on him again, hands trying to find purchase but he ducks, his hands grabbing onto her arm and leg, spinning and sending her careening forward in a large tree. It splinters under the weight of the hit, sending it, and Bella, to the forest floor.
Bella crouches as she waits for another attack, and of course, Edward doesn't disappoint. He runs at her on full tilt and she waits till his hands are clenched around her neck, then she moves. With all her strength she clutches onto his sides, jerking backward so that they flip through the air becoming a moving ball of fighting limbs as they crash through some sort of clearing, and that's when she smells them. The Denali's are here. Tanya is here.
As Edward's back hits the ground, she puts her feet to his chest, her hands clutching his around her neck, and pushes until she's free and flying through the air. She lands crouched on her feet, a hand clawing the ground to stop her sliding back.
For a moment things slow down, Edward is in front of her, eyes black and growling, ready for her next move. Bella looks behind and Tanya's there, feet away. Edward finally notices that they're no longer alone. When he sees Tanya, he looks at Bella with a smirk, and instead of heading toward her, he makes a break toward Tanya, but Bella's closer.
She looks at Tanya and Tanya gives her a nod. Bella takes off, Jumping into the air right at Tanya. Tanya catches her by the back of her jacket, spins, and launches her straight toward Edward.
It all over in a second, Edward's body stumbles a couple steps before falling to his knees and crashing into the snow. His head, grasped in her hands, stared up at her with a face frozen in fear; the last emotion Edward felt before Bella decapitated him. She tosses his head away from his body, and turns toward the others.
Tanya hits her before she can speak, and Bella sinks into her arms, as the weight of everything hits her. Tanya clings to her, even as they pull back enough to be face to face.
Bella's hands cradle Tanya's face in her hands, and Bella smiles. "My mate." Bella coos.
Tanya laughs though Bella could see the unshed tears collecting in her eyes. "I love you, Isabella Swan."
"I love you too, Tanya Denali."
Their lips meet and it's the best pain reliever Bella has ever had. She doesn't feel the pain from Edward's venom or bites, she doesn't feel the cracked skin from his punches, only the softness of Tanya's lips on hers. She had done it. She had protected her mate and now; Bella had forever to look forward to.
