Derek Morgan

How dare this officer talk to Reid like that? Was he looking to get kicked today? The officer continued to glare at Reid whilst he explained his theory and I was ready to push him out the window. Who does this guy think he is?

"Derek, are you okay?" he asked once we were alone, working on the profile individually.

"Yeah, why do you ask?" I looked through the different photographs.

"Well because earlier you kind of looked like you wanted to murder that officer," he told me.

"He just pissed me off, questioning you like that like he knew more than you," I explained, inspecting every inch of the image.

"But you know that's bound to happen. People aren't always ready to hear the truth and they try to build a sort of wall around themselves so they believe what they want to believe, not necessarily the truth," he sighed.

"I know, I just didn't like the way he was talking to you," Reid chuckled softly.

"You can't go around wanting to murder every person that talks to me like that. Then we'd have to go after you for being a serial killer and I'd be your stressor," I laughed at that, smiling and looking up at him from the file. He was standing adorably with a small grin on his lips.

"Alright, I'll keep it in my head," I assured him and his smile widened.

"Good," he turned to the board where he was working on. "Now, obviously, he has to have a partner. His wife confirms he did in fact go into the kitchen when Kelly disappeared. There couldn't have been any other way in which he had gotten her," he said, beginning to pace.

"Right, but before we get into that. We need to figure out why," I told him. "Why would he want to kidnap his own daughter?" I fiddled with the pen in my hand as I watched Reid pace, thinking hard.

"It's not very common for parents who are together to have one of the two kidnap their child but it isn't strange that it would be the father who did it," he thought out loud.

"Do you think the mother was in on it?" I pondered.

"Mm, no she was the one who called. If they wanted to get rid of their daughter they would've done so quietly," he answered.

"Okay so we have a father kidnapping his own daughter under his wife's nose without a valid reason, an unknown partner and unidentified endgame," I stood up from the chair, leaning against the table.

"Yup," he let out a breath as he turned back to the board.

"Dysfunctional family," I nodded. "Perfect."

"FBI! PUT YOUR WEAPON DOWN MR. LEE!" I shouted as I kicked the door down. Clarence Lee was standing over his daughter's sobbing body, a knife raised over his head and ready to come down in her chest.

"NO!" he shouted, his hands shaking.

"You don't want to hurt an innocent little girl. Think, Clarence!" Hotch yelled. "Your wife won't love you any more with your daughter gone and she definitely won't love you if you kill her!"

"You don't understand! Yes, she will, she will see that we'll be happier without this brat in our lives. All she's done is ruined it since she's gotten here!" the little girl cried harder. "Shut up!" Clarence brought the large kitchen knife down and a shot was fired. The knife clattered to the ground and he fell to the side. The little girl screamed and I put my gun away, rushing to her side and picking her up.

"Hey, you're okay sweetie. Don't worry, we're going to bring you back to your mommy," I said softly as I pressed her head down so she wouldn't look at her father. She sobbed into my shoulder as I walked out of the shed in which Clarence had been holding her captive the last day and a half.

I set her down with the EMTs so they would check her out.

"Thank God, JJ stayed back with Reid," Emily sighed as she walked out, beginning to remove her vest.

"I don't think Clarence would've made it out alive," I told her and she nodded. We watched as Rossi dragged Clarence towards the EMTs, his right shoulder bleeding.

"I can tell you her accuracy would've been 100 percent," I chuckled and she joined in.

"By the way, I've assumed Reid already told you," she turned to face me. "But I'm not going to say anything. That's both your business but believe me when I tell you I was both surprised and not to figure that out," she chuckled.

"How did you figure it out? I mean, I thought we were pretty incognito about it," I folded my arms in curiosity.

"Please, Morgan," she scoffed. "You totally undress him with your eyes," she laughed. I scoffed, shaking my head. Not that again.

"Damn it," I muttered.

"Don't worry, you don't do it very often. Plus, I heard Reid moan when I came into his room a while back. Imagine my surprise when I found you in there with him," she shrugged. I smirked and looked away, watching Hotch talk to the officers.

"Don't tell me you heard us that night we got home from the Barbie case," I perked a brow and she grinned.

"You're both very loud, you know that?" she joked. We laughed and I shook my head. For now, Prentiss and Garcia knowing were enough. Even though we had wanted to keep it between Spencer and me for a while, I was glad it was Emily rather than anyone else on the team. As for Garcia, well I have no idea how long she'll stay quiet with her little gossipy self.

"You two ready?" Hotch nodded at us and we both nodded. "Alright, let's get this little girl home."

I sat in the backseat with Kelly as Hotch drove back towards the police station.

"Is my dad going to hurt me again?" she asked innocently with a sniffle.

"No, darling," I shook my head. "You're going home and be safe with your mom. Everything is going to be okay now," I assured her.

"Thank you," she smiled small at me, wiping her tears away with the back of her hand. I looked at her with a twinge of sadness.

"You're very welcome."

We arrived back at the police station where the mother was talking to Reid and JJ.

"Mom!" she cried out as she saw her. Mrs. Lee turned around and tears of happiness streamed down her face as she embraced her daughter.

"Well, looks like I owe you an apology," the leading officer looked over at Spencer. My jaw set tightly and my arm instinctively rose to bring Reid closer but I stopped, folding them across my chest, remembering where I was.

"Yes, you do," I narrowed my eyes at the officer who looked at me with a quick look of nervousness. I smirked at that.

"Morgan," Spencer touched my bicep and I immediately felt relaxed even though I was still angry. "It's alright. We understand it can be hard to see that a familiar face could be capable of such terrible things," Reid nodded. He was too nice, I scoffed in my head. The officer nodded and we went back to our hotel to grab our things before getting onto the jet to go home.

"Derek," Reid started and I already knew what he was going to say. We sat together in the seats across from Emily and Rossi. Some sleeping and others having short conversations amongst each other.

"I know, I know," I sighed. He smiled small, subtly touching my hip for a few seconds before pulling back. I looked at the time on my watch: 7:30.

"How long is the flight back to Quantico?" I asked him.

"Four hours and 15 minutes, now just four hours," he stated before going back to his book.

"You mean to tell me we're getting home at midnight?" I questioned.

"3 am actually because of the time difference," he shrugged. I inwardly groaned and put my headphones, playing music and resting against the headrest, trying to get some sleep so I don't fall asleep on the drive home.
