Distorted Voice: After you found out why you were given a break yesterday, you went rogue.
Max: No..! I wasn't rogue, I was continuing the mission. I was going to bring in Atwater.
Distorted Voice: But the Road Rovers were already on their way to get Atwater. Why did you have to go?
As the distorted voice talks, Max looks around, not paying attention, slowly losing his mind.
Max: "Atwater... Storm... and Parvo... These three men must pay..." That's what she said when she was dying in my arms. I have to avenge her.
Distorted Voice: (frustrated) WE WANTED ATWATER! WHY DID YOU HAVE TO GO?!
Max: (angrily) BECAUSE I PROMISED GROOMER THAT I WOULD AVENGE HER! WHY DON'T YOU PEOPLE UNDERSTAND?!
July 29th, 2001
10:00 PM. The Rovers are at the island near the Philippines, where Atwater is hiding in a base. Hunter, running towards the base, spots a helicopter with the logo 'GenPar' on it.
Hunter: This doesn't look good.
Blitz looks at his leader.
Blitz: When has anything ever looked good for us, Hunter?
Hunter stops. He prepares to say something to Blitz but lets it slide and continues to walk. He picks up his radio and speaks into it.
Hunter: Max Thomas Parker. We know that you're here. Wherever you are, you fall back to us. We'll talk, I promise.
Silence.
Hunter: (sighs) No response. We keep going.
As the Road Rovers continue, Max is at the base, sneaking through the guards to be sure he doesn't get spotted. A million things are going through his head, but there is one which he says to himself over and over since he got here.
Max: Just ask Atwater questions and then bring him to HQ. That's it.
He continues and can get into the base. As he's looking around for Atwater, he stumbles into a room. He looks through a filing cabinet and sees a folder that catches his eyes; "June 18th - 25th 1998: Max Thomas Parker DNA Paternity Test". He places the file on the table. A mix of emotions goes through him: fear and anxiety. Does he want to go through the file to find out who his father is? Does he want to know the truth? After a few minutes, he decides to look through the file. There was a picture of him, back when he was in his human form. He then sees two pieces of paper in it. He looks through the first page and reads the first paragraph: "By order of General Parvo, I have been requested to perform a DNA Paternity Test. Here are my findings. I have tested on these two individuals:" After seeing at the top that this test was performed by Atwater, he then looks at a list:
ROLE: ALLEGED CHILD, NAME: MAX THOMAS PARKER, DOB: 03/15/1972.
ROLE: ALLEGED FATHER, NAME: GERALD LEWIS PARKER, DOB: 06/13/1947
Gerald Lewis Parker? Who could that be? Curious, he looks through the file and pulls out a picture, and is shocked at what he looks at. It was a picture of General Parvo.
Max: No... It can't be... Tell me, this isn't true!
Max decides to read through the first page. After reading it, he looks through the second page, seeing a chart of letters and numbers found in someone's DNA. Fear and anxiety have come back into his mind. He then sees what made him go into hysterics.
"In all analyzed PCR systems, Gerald Parker does show the genetic markers which have to be present for the biological father of the child Max Parker. The biostatistical analysis of the PCR systems was performed according to the method of Essen-Möller. The probability of Mr. Gerald Parker being the biological father is 99.9999 %.
Conclusion: Based on my analysis, it is practically proven that Mr. Gerald Lewis Parker is the biological father of the child Max Thomas Parker."
He throws the paper and the file across the room.
Max: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Max runs to a corner in the room and starts crying, like a broken child that's been yelled at. He could not believe that after all this time, General Parvo is his father. After a couple of minutes of crying, he wipes the tears from his eyes.
Max: So... It makes sense why you didn't kill me that night... It's because I am your son... But if you didn't kill Groomer, who could've...?
Something changed inside Max. It was as if someone lit a fuse in his body and caused it to explode, but it was quiet. Max looks at the open door, his eyes full of anger and his mindset on the verge of psychosis.
Max: Atwater...
Max takes the file and the two pieces of paper with him and places them in his uniform. He then leaves the room and goes to find Atwater. Nothing was going to stop him.
On another side of the base, the Rovers are fighting guards and soldiers, trying to get to Atwater. Colleen fights the last guard.
Colleen: HIYA! GEORGE BUSH AND DICK CHENEY! HIYA!
Colleen's kick sends the guard to the wall.
Hunter: All right, Rovers. We're doing good.
Kai: Yeah, but we haven't still found Atwater.
Just then, they hear someone talking to their radio, which only turns static and an unintelligible voice.
Unintelligible voice: Ro... ers...
The voice becomes clear and the Rovers recognize it.
Voice: Road... Rovers...!
Blitz: It's Atwater! He's trying to contact us!
Hunter does some fiddling to make Atwater connect with the Rover's radios so they can speak to him.
Hunter: Dr. Atwater! What's the situation?
Atwater is at the top of the base, which is built on the side of a cliff. He's in a room with fish tanks full of insects and is surrounded by monitors and electronics. He stands in front of a huge plate glass window, which overlooks everything outside of the base.
Atwater: You know that helicopter you saw flying around?
Hunter: Yeah and we saw a couple more landing at the base. What is going on?
Atwater: It's Parvo. He must've known I would betray him and give you guys information on him. He has his army rounding up all my men here at the island! Anyone who is no longer essential to his plan is being executed! Road Rovers, get to my room. It's at the top of the base on the top floor. You must hurry before he kills me too!
Hunter: All right, Atwater! Don't worry! We're on our way!
Hunter places his radio back in his pocket.
Hunter: Okay, guys! We know what we have to do! Let's go!
The Rovers run to get to the top floor. Kai looks at a monitor and sees Max acting completely differently. He kills a guard by shooting him in the back of the head with a gun he got from the previous person he killed.
Kai: Max...? What are you doing...?
Blitz looks at the monitors and is shocked as Kai is and the Rovers follow suit.
Blitz: He's killing everyone...
Javier: For what...?
Hunter: To get to Atwater. Run! RUN!
The Rovers hurry up to get to Atwater before Max does. Hunter picks up his radio.
Hunter: MAX! STAND DOWN! WE NEED ATWATER!
At the top of the base, Atwater is pacing back in forth, hoping the Rovers will get here before Parvo's men get to him. As thoughts go through his mind, he remembers the day he told Parvo that Max is his son. It was June 25th, 1998. Atwater walks to Parvo's office where Groomer, who stands by Parvo's side, and a couple of men and cano-mutants stand around.
Parvo: So, what have you found Atwater?
Atwater goes through the papers in his hand until he gets to the test results. He straightens his round wired glasses.
Atwater: Well, Parvo, I compared your blood to Max's blood and found the stuff in his DNA and yours-
Parvo: (annoyed) Yes, I know how it works! Can you get to the point, Atwater?
Atwater clears his throat.
Atwater: Sorry. Well, based on my analysis, I found that you have a 99.999% probability of being the biological father to Max.
Parvo is shocked to hear this.
Parvo: So, you're saying that Max is my son and I am his father?
Atwater looks down at the metallic floor.
Atwater: Yes, Parvo. That's what I'm telling you.
Parvo gets out of his chair and starts pacing back and forth.
Parvo: (mumbling) But how? How could I have a son? Unless...
Groomer notices Parvo stops pacing.
Groomer: Sir...?
Groomer walks up to Parvo.
Parvo: Stacey.
Groomer gets confused by this.
Groomer: Stacey?
Parvo looks at Groomer, his face being stern, but still in shock.
Parvo: Didn't I tell you that I was married once?
Groomer nods.
Groomer: Yeah. You mentioned it.
Atwater looks at the two.
Atwater: You were married, sir?
Parvo walks up to Atwater.
Parvo: Yes. Stacey Louise Conner. I met her at college, where we became sweethearts. After college, we got married, which didn't last long. She saw that I'm not the same man she married and so we divorced. I thought it was the only way we could have a life for each other. We were going our separate lives and the divorce was finalized. But, we never had a baby!
Atwater: Did she show any signs that she was pregnant?
Parvo: No. I guess she kept it to herself. Although I do remember a week before we left she was vomiting in the bathroom. But how? How could she have kept that to me?
Parvo looks around to see Groomer and Atwater looking at him.
Parvo: Ah! Doesn't matter now.
Parvo goes to sit on his chair, but then a thought came to him.
Parvo: My son, huh? He may be of some use to me.
Groomer: How so?
Parvo: Ah, yes. I can see it. I shall have him command the new army he makes. Just think of it. Two Parvo's taking over the world, following every command we make. We would be unstoppable. And it's going to be beautiful.
There is a long pause.
Atwater: Don't you think that your son needs more important things than that, sir?
This makes Parvo get distracted. He looks at Atwater.
Parvo: Like what?
Atwater: I don't know. Like maybe, give him love, support. He's not meant to be here for you Parvo. You were meant to be out there for him. To support him.
Parvo starts laughing to the point where he starts wheezing. He coughs and gets a lemon-flavored lozenge in his throat, which he swallows. He chuckles more and looks at Atwater, who was being stern the entire time.
Parvo: You serious?
Atwater: Yeah. If I had a kid, I would do all of the things that I would be doing as a parent-
Parvo: Who are you, Jerry Springer? I don't pay you to do therapy sessions on me!
Parvo sits on his chair.
Parvo: Get out of here. You and the scientists have an army to make.
Atwater, though disappointed, bows.
Atwater: Yes, sir.
Atwater leaves the room. Back to the present day, Atwater stares at the window, worried. Max reaches to the room; he threw away the gun sometime before he got here. He opens the door. Atwater turns to see him.
Atwater: Max! Oh, yes! Thank you, God! I am saved!
As Atwater runs up to Max, he uses his telekinesis on the door to shut it and lock it. He then picks up a chair and places it securely underneath the handle.
Atwater: Max, what are you do-
Max uses his telekinesis on Atwater to push him against a table. Atwater groans while Max sees the insects inside the fish tanks. He focuses his energy on them, they start to lift off the ground. With the clench of his fist, the insects get crushed, until there's nothing but blood and guts on the branches and glass. Atwater sees this and is horrified.
Atwater: NO! MY FRIENDS!
Atwater starts to run to one of the tanks when he gets grabbed by Max, his eyes staring at Atwater with anger.
Max: Will you grow up, old man? They're bugs, just like you are!
He grabs Atwater and throws him against the monitors. Battered and weak, Atwater tries to get up.
Max: You took her life without mercy and in cold blood.
Atwater, weak from the beating he took, looks at Max with confusion.
Atwater: What? What are you talking abo-
Max: And on top of that, you and Parvo took over a thousand people away from this world and turned them into me. Turned them into dogs with no hope for them to be cured because they are forced to fight for him. You and Parvo have ruined thousands of families lives for his plan of world domination.
Max punches him in the face.
Max: No longer.
Max punches him again. He then grabs Atwater again and throws him at a chair. As this is going on, the Rovers get to the top of the base and find the room Atwater is at. They are in shock to see what Max is doing.
Hunter: No! Max!
Blitz tries to break the glass as best as he can by grabbing a folding chair and smashing it, but to no avail.
Blitz: (frustrated) Argh! It's shatterproof!
Hunter starts to use his shoulder as a battering ram on the door. Blitz joins him. The other Rovers start pleading with Max to stop.
Hunter: MAX! WE NEED HIM! STAND DOWN! I REPEAT, STAND DOWN!
Max does not pay attention to the noises as he is too focused on Atwater, who spits out blood from his mouth.
Atwater: Max... killing me... is not... going to... bring back... Groomer...
He looks at Max, who is still looking at him in anger.
Atwater: And it will... not stop... Parvo...
Max punches him one more time, sending Atwater to the floor.
Max: I DO NOT CARE ABOUT MY DAD!
Atwater looks at Max in shock that he found out the truth. Max gets his hands on Atwater's lab coat and furiously picks him up and yells in his face.
Max: MY NAME IS MAX THOMAS PARKER!
Max then uses his telekinesis to lift Atwater off the ground and to choke his neck, without using his hands. He swings him around.
Atwater: No..!
Max looks at the window ahead of him and takes one last look at Atwater.
Max: AND I WILL HAVE MY REVENGE!
Max furiously throws Atwater through the window, shattering it into millions of pieces, sending Atwater to fall hundreds of feet to his death. At the same time, the Rovers break through the door.
Hunter: MAX! NOOOOOOOOO!
Hearing this caused Max to change. He was no longer the Road Rover that his friends knew, he changed into something completely different. He turns over and sees Blitz going towards him. He uses his telekinesis to throw him across a table, breaking a couple of the fish tanks. Hunter comes towards him next, and Max grabs him and tosses him across the floor, making him knock to the wall. Rejean and Javier come towards him, and he throws them both to a wall, getting their heads stuck. Kai comes next and can block a couple of hits but gets grabbed by Max and is thrown into a fish tank, his head breaking the glass. Colleen can get control of him. They then get into a fight that involved punching and kicking. They start to struggle, and Max breaks it by grabbing her arm and kicks her in the back. Colleen tries to get up but gets stopped by Max, who restrains her legs by telekinesis so that way, they can't move, and grabs her arms. Colleen is terrified of what Max is going to do to her.
Colleen: Max! We're not your enemies! Try to think!
When Max starts talking, she becomes more terrified. His voice started to resemble General Parvo's.
Max: You dogs always get in my way. Do you think you're useful to the world?
Max looks at Colleen's neck and smirks evilly.
Max: Show me how useful you are when you're not breathing.
He then grabs Colleen's neck and starts choking her. Colleen starts to struggle and tries everything she can to make Max stop choking her, but she can't. The more she struggled, the harder Max choked her. As he continued to choke her, she started to get weaker. Her vision started to become fuzzy and she could barely see Max. Just as Colleen is about to pass out, Max gets whacked in the head with a computer monitor. This caused Max to stop choking Colleen and he fell unconscious. Colleen, trying to get a breath of air, looks at her savior. She couldn't see because of her blurry vision. Eventually, her vision comes back, and standing before her was a Doberman who looked exactly like Blitz. He gets down and comforts Colleen.
Blitz: It's okay, Colleen. Keep breathing for me. Keep breathing for me.
Colleen starts to breathe a little bit and looks at Max in shock.
Colleen: I didn't... see that... coming...
Hunter aids Rejean and Javier. Kai gets up.
Hunter: Kai?
Kai looks at his leader. Hunter makes a notion to the broken window. Kai walks up to the broken window and looks down. He sees Atwater at the bottom of the cliff, all mangled up from the fall. He looks back at Hunter in disappointment.
Kai: Dead.
Everyone is disappointed as Kai is.
Rejean: We were too late.
Javier: We failed the mission. Without Atwater, there's no one to give us information about Parvo.
Hunter then looks at Max.
Hunter: We found someone. Our 'friend', Max Parker. Blitz.
Blitz looks at Hunter. He makes a notion to Max. Blitz nods as he goes to Max. Feeling his body, he feels two things in his uniform. He pulls them out to find a file and a journal. He hands Hunter the file and looks through his journal, which surprisingly, didn't have the lock. He reads through Max's journal, reading the last entry.
Blitz: Mein Gott. He sounded like he was having doubts on whether or not he wanted to do this.
Hunter takes the journal away from Blitz.
Hunter: I'm sure we'll find out why. Bring him with us. Rejean and Javier, look around the room and see if you can find anything that will help us. Kai, you help Colleen.
Blitz picks Max up and carries him and walks out of the room, with the rest of the Rovers following suit. Kai aids Colleen on his way out. Rejean and Javier grab as many files as they could before heading out.
