Hello everyone!
I am back with the first chapter. Not too much is revealed but I am planning for the true story to begin in the second chapter. So I hope you all enjoy the first chapter, no action shown but, it will start next chapter along with the rest of the defense clubs member showing up.
Have a nice week and I will hopefully be posting the next chapter either next Sunday or Monday!
Enjoy!
It is a warm, evening with a lovely sunset in the city of Binan, people were out and about, adults on their way home from work, teens hanging out with their friends, and kids running around laughing joyously as they play in a nearby playground. However, unseen to the regular human eye there was a figure sitting atop one of the normally hard to reach rooftops with a black hood pulled up covering their hair, a slight frown on their face, and, a red and orange domino mask obscuring their face.
The figure had been sitting there deep in thought for a while as they kept an eye on the people down below. However, as they sat there a light click of heels hitting the concrete sounded out behind them and walked over without pause and sat down a few feet away from the figure.
The two stayed silent for a few moments, the first figure having briefly glanced over at their current companion, noting the similar outfit, but with a silver masquerade looking domino mask, before looking back down at the city below their frown deepening ever so slightly just before the new figure broke the silence.
"You had quite the embarrassing day today. Honestly, crying when being tickled is quite lame, even for a pyromaniac like yourself." The silver masked male spoke up lightly with amusement lacing his voice as a groan sounded from the first figure who sent the other a light glare, amber eyes seeming to light up with a slight fiery orange in his irritation.
"Not my fault that tickling is painful to me." The red and orange masked male grumbled but did not argue back like he would in his civilian life. "Also, I would not have needed to be in that position if you and your seniors did not send that stupid monster out anyway. Not that that does any lasting harm to anyone." He continued with a slightly dry tone as he looked away from the other and looked forward at the row of buildings across from them. "How did you find me here anyway?"
Now it was the silver masked males turn to look over at the other with a slight smirk on his face that the other noticed from the corner of his eye. "I wonder? Could it be that I know you too well? Or am I a seer?" He asked mockingly but no true bite to his words. "And I am not sure the no damage thing is true. Aurite seems to be getting more and more irate with each loss. But no one else seems to be as affected by it as him."
"You aren't wrong his anger is probably felt by every one of us throughout the city. My 'teammates' all find this just a huge pain in the ass." The red masked male replied with a roll of his eyes as the sun reached the horizon. "Also do you mind not trying to turn Sulfur to the 'dark' side. That was just a mean trick, Trick Prophet."
"Well, I am known for that nowadays, both in and out of a mask, just as you are known to be quite explosive when irritated out of the mask, and in the mask you are just explosive as a time bomb. Never know what will set you off, Pyroblaze." The silver masked male now nicknamed as Trick Prophet.
"Well, usually you play a good factor in me blowing up. After all you are quite talented at getting under my skin." 'Pyroblaze' replied sending an irritable look in the others direction, before the two fell silent for a few minutes and just continued people watching down below before Pyroblaze broke the silence.
"Are you planning on breaking code to tell your seniors the consequences of continuing to use the abilities that have been so offhandedly gifted to them?" He asked suddenly, finally showing what has been on his mind since before the conversation began.
"No. If they somehow find out, then I am not going to be apart of it. Even if they should get both sides of the story, the so-called heroes are going to break the code. They have broken every code so far, that one will not be the exception. I assume you are thinking along the same lines as your sister can and will skin you for even thinking of breaking code. She did threaten both of us at the same time after all." Prophet replied a hint of curiosity in his tone as he looked back at the other who also turned to face him.
"I do not plan to tell them anything." Pyro replied with a scowl once again. "Not yet at least. If they get pulled in and learn about our side of the world, then I think I would like to say something about how dangerous it is currently, maybe discourage them from having anything to do with it our world, even if it means…" He trailed off as he clenched his hands into fists and closed his eyed momentarily. "Even if it means they have nothing to do with me afterwards." His tone took on a slightly depressed tone as he spoke before he opened his eyes and began pushing himself up into a crouch to easily stand up once he was ready.
"Anyway… I have to head back. My sister has other things she would skin me over, including skipping out on my civilian job." Pyroblaze spoke quickly changing to a cheerful tone as he turned and walked over to the edge of the building with another shorter building standing below it. "So, I will see you tomorrow, after activities for our patrol." Once he finished speaking, he jumped down to the lower building and then jumped down to the alley from there. He made sure that there was no one around and pulled his hood down showing off his bright pink hair, and took off his mask shoving it in his pocket, revealing himself as he made his way out of the alley and headed off towards the closest bakery his parents own, but it is the one he and his older sister Aratani run, and next year their younger brother Yuuma will be joining them once he is out of middle school.
The walk was short and Ryuu entered the bakery after unlocking the door and locking it behind him. "I'm back." He called as he moved back to the kitchen where his older sister was mixing some green colored icing. "Were you busy today Aranee?"
"Not really, but it gave me time to work on the order for the Wakura's eldest son's tenth birthday party." Aratani spoke up as she glanced over at her younger brother with a stoic face. Her appearance was very similar to Ryuu's except her hair was more of a red and reached her mid-back even in a ponytail. "Hard to believe he is turning ten this year. Before we know it, he will be choosing his side of things. Wonder if the world will make it that long." She hummed with a slightly curious tone as her brother took off his hoodie and placed it in the area with their personal assets as he went to wash his hands.
"I guess he is turning ten tomorrow, time flies, I guess. We were invited to the party as well when Aunt Hanako made the order she asked us to at least show up. Nanao is our little cousin after all. Besides him and his little siblings, the only other cousin is Aunt Hiromi's son Akoya, and he is my age so not little, or cute, and kind of a jerk." Ryuu replied as he washed his hands and turned to help his sister with the actual cake decoration which he was actually good at. He excelled at decorating cakes, and she excelled at decorating cookies.
"Well I might not be able to see the future, but I think I can see another fight brewing between you two idiots, since you both seem to see the other the same exact way." She spoke with amusement lacing her tone as her lips quirked upwards into a slight smile. "But I do agree that we should drop by, even for just a few minutes depending on how much we have to get done this weekend before we are gone for a week to go visit mom, dad, and Yuuma. Besides Nanao is a cute kid, he is easily a mix between mom, and Aunt Hanako, none of your temper thankfully." Aratani said teasing her pink haired brother who sent her a slight glare.
"He does have your irritating observant tendencies, Yuu's laidback façade, and Akoya's arrogance." He replied with a huff. "He does not have my temper, but he is more cheerful than the rest of you, which is more like me for once. So, he gets something from all four of his older cousins, lucky him." The pinkette spoke as he put some of the plain white icing that his sister had made for the cake earlier.
"True, the four of us are not exactly the ideal people to be getting traits from, but we are what he has for his 'cool' older cousin role models." She hummed as she set the green icing aside closer to her brother and moved on to mixing an orange icing, as she had already mixed a red, pink, blue, and yellow before he had gotten to the bakery. "Anyway, Ryuu after I finish mixing this icing will you be good to take it from here? I have to get upstairs and work on an essay that is due soon."
"Yeah I will be fine down here. Icing the cake will be a piece of cake Aranee. I probably could have mixed the icings too but thank you for doing that for me." He grinned at her. "So have fun with your essay, and if you are asleep by the time I come upstairs, them sleep well."
