Hello everyone.

It's been years since I've published a story on this site. I have mentioned recently on my revised profile that I will be focusing on new stories rather than try to continue the stories that I have not finished. But then, I began reading my old works and saw the great reception so, I'm writing to tell you all that I will be finishing 'Among the Shadows'. It has come to my attention that as I was reading the story that I had in fact written future excerpts of the story but have not published them yet, I was confused at certain points because I thought I had published the chapter that would have clarified some things.

Also I would like to take the time to say that I had written this story years ago when I was young. I am now in college about to start senior year and when I was reading the story I realized that some language that I had used to describe Native American-coded characters were incredibly racist and not okay to write. I should have known better and I would like to apologize for it now. And even though I adapted the name J.M Barrie used to describe the natives in the original story, I regret ever using the name because it is also a racialized slur. It was hard to read this now being fully aware of the fact where the name came from and especially how such terms should never be used, especially during these times of extreme social change.

Over the next few weeks, I will be going back to previous chapters to rectify this as well as note the indigenous traditions that had inspired me to write certain aspects of the story and will be open for anyone of indigenous heritage to critique and correct me.

Thank you all so much for reading this story and believing so much in these characters, but I wanted to make sure you all know that I have messed up and to please take away from this fic the plot and not racist rhetoric. These are dangerous times for a lot of people of color and I don't want work that I have written when I was a teenager to be a part of ignorant, racist teachings.

I would also like to apologize for the wait. I know it has been years, but I, and many others, have been quarantined at home so that leaves time to go back and revisit the things we used to love. And I hope the next chapters would be written to your satisfaction. For me, I had thought the story ended years ago so I moved on. Now, I realized how selfish that was because I was the only one who knew how it ended.

Again, thank you for the support over the last few years.

You should all be expecting a chapter update within the next week.

With much love,

Phoebee
