It was behind her.
Wolf knew Death Stalkers well, but this one was bigger than any she had even seen. And no matter how she tried, probably because she was running, she couldn't get her heartbeat to slow. This is what she got for splitting off on her own. Letting her annoyance drive her away from the others, even if it had only supposed to have been for a little while.
The girl's bare foot got caught in a pothole, and she felt right on her face. A rookie mistake. One she should have known better than to make. She only managed to put herself up onto her hands and knees before it caught up to her, it's triplet tails ready to strike.
"Hey!" Kipo's voice, cutting across the old parking lot, sent a jolt of relief through Wolf's mind, "Leave her alone!"
Wolf looked up, only to once again get swallowed by panic when she saw Kipo was unarmed except for a small rock. Which she threw at the stalker. Getting it's attention, but not much else.
The young girl tried to stand, only to find out that (just her luck) her ankle couldn't support her weight. Bruised all to hell and just slightly off set.
"Please don't be broken." She muttered under her breath.
The Death Stalker made its way to Kipo, who kept throwing rocks. Leading it further and further away from Wolf, but closer and closer to her unarmed self…
Claws.
In her panic, Wolf had forgotten about Kipo's claws. Which quickly sent the mutant scorpion running. As soon as it was gone Kipo was with Wolf, her arms returning to normal as she gently picked her up.
"Is it broken?" The pinkette asked softly, concern oozing from her words.
Wolf only shrugged, crossing her arms and looking away.
Luckily, it was only dislocated. Unluckily, even after it had been set back into place it was still swollen. And Kipo insisted on carrying the younger girl.
Still, after a while Wolf's arguing turned into nothing but mildly annoyed silence. She wouldn't admit it, but being held like this wasn't so bad.
She could feel Kipo's heart racing a mile a minute. Even nearly half an hour later. She must have been really freaked out. No wonder the Death Stalker had gone after her and left Wolf alone.
"Are you okay?" Kipo asked, "You seemed distant. More than normal."
"You were reckless again." The words came out before she thought about them, "Picking a fight with a Death Stalker like that."
The pinkette only shrugged, tightening her grip on Wolf in an odd sort of hug, "Maybe; but that's what big sisters do."
Wolf didn't answer, but she felt her cheeks color slightly. Sure, Kipo had called them sisters before. But for some reason 'big sister' had more of an affect. Combined with the way she was holding her… she felt something she hadn't in a long time.
Wolf felt like a child. And not in a bad way. In a safe and protected way.
If the pinkette weren't carrying her, she would have pushed her away. If for no other reason than to hide the effect of the older girl's words from her. But Kipo wasn't paying much attention anyway, already distracted by some kind of plant.
Typical Kipo.
