Official Disclaimer
The characters of Lieutenant Commander Steve McGarrett, Lieutenant Chin Ho Kelly, Officer Kono Kalakaua, Agent Jenna O'Connor nee Kaye, Adam 'Toast' Charles, Kamekona and Governor Sam Denning do not belong to me in any fashion. I am merely using them for my own entertainment purposes.
The character of Lieutenant Danielle 'Danni' Williams probably can be considered to be mine by now. Although she was originally based on the male version of Danny, she soon evolved and became her own person. She has her own background, her own family and the history which goes with it, not to mention different character traits. That isn't to say that the Danny Williams we all know and love is completely gone, he still emerges through her at time. I like to think of female Danni as what Danny could have been like if everything in his life had gone his way. As in full custody of Grace and a decent relationship based in friendship with his ex.
The character of Grace has also changed slightly due to this change in Danni's character. Her surname for one is Taylor rather then Williams as this is her father's surname and was Danni's married name (Danni chose to revert back to her maiden name when divorced?. Her parents are also amicable which has also impacted Grace but never fear, she is still the sweetheart we all know and love, if anything she is even more of a character now.
The characters of Lieutenant Colonel David Williams, Supervisory Special Agent in charge Jack O'Connor, Lieutenant Commander Riley King, Lieutenant Louisa Palakiko-Cowan, Emily 'Emmy' McGarrett, James 'Jago' McGarrett, Oliver 'Ollie' McGarrett, Medical Examiner Rosamund 'Ros / Rosie' Lange do all belong to me so please do not use without first asking permission.
Any other character who might pop up who isn't instantly recognisable from the show probably belongs to me as well!
Author Note
Welcome to the second chapter of 'All in a weekend'
It's always enjoyable writing the team together, in this version there are a few more members then normal due to the fact that Denning wants them working on at least two cases at once in this A/U so Steve and Danni hired the necessary numbers to have two groups.
Also in case anyone is wondering how James's nickname of Jago is pronounced then it is Jay-go
Anyway please enjoy.

I do not have a Beta so please forgive any mistakes which may creep into this story, I always do my best to edit the story and to double check it before uploaded one of my works but sometimes mistakes do creep in, this might also include me accidentally using an English word in place of an American word as my brain, being English, doesn't always pick up on it being incorrect.
The places which I have mentioned are either made up or have been obtained from google including any areas or addresses. One day I hope to go to Hawaii in person but until then I'll have to make so with using my imaginations to build the places in my mind.
Chapter Two
Thursday Afternoon
"And here we are boys" Danni commented brightly as she pulled the family car into the first free spot which she spotted and killed the engine, extracting the key from the ignition and looking over her shoulder, her heart swelling at the sight of her two small boys. "Shall we go and see Daddy? Yeah I think we will go and see Daddy and all your Aunties and Uncles."
She was exactly on time which was always a good thing since she knew from experience that her husband and the team could be called away at any minute to work on a case and she wanted to at least be able to spend some time with them, missing the way they used to see each other on a daily basis.
Danni pushed open the driver's side door and climbed out into the heat, wincing at the humidity which seemed to hit her in the face like a slap which she could easily have done without. She absently smoothed the skirt of the dress down and glanced around her curiously, looking for anything which might have looked out of place to her. Years of being a cop, both here and in New Jersey had taught her the hard way to never let her guard down no matter how safe an area might look. The simple truth of the matter was that cops were rarely safe, there was always someone out there who wanted revenge on them for doing their jobs and would happily wait years for the right time to execute it.
She would never risk being complacent, especially not when she had James and Oliver with her, relying on her to protect them and keep them safe from any danger.
She swept the area with her gaze one last time before finally nodding to herself, stepping backwards so she could close the driver's door behind her. She moved to the back of the car and opened the trunk, taking out the double stroller which she and Steve had bought the moment the scan had revealed that they were having twins this time around. It took a moment or two to set it up but she eventually had it, allowing her to move over to the back seat, opening up the door and leaned in, unstrapping Oliver and lifting him gently out. She placed him in the pushchair, making sure he was comfortable before she did the same with James, taking a moment longer to grab the nappy bag she needed which she stuffed in the bottom of the pushchair once she had placed James in beside his brother.
"Okay my baby boys I think we are ready to go." She announced to them, making sure she had everything she needed before she locked the car and began pushing the stroller across the car park, heading in the direction of the shack. It was hardly a surprise that this was the one which Steve had texted her to go to. Although Kamekona owned at these two more shacks across the island, this one was the mothership one where she and Steve had first met him and where he tended to personally work from, making it the one which the team tended to frequent the most.
She glanced down into the stroller surprised to see that both James and Oliver were still awake, staring up at her with curious expressions, James's hands flew around him as though he was conducting an orchestra while Oliver clung to the little cuddly toy of a Seal which he refused to go anywhere without which made Steve believe that Oliver was destined to follow in his footsteps and be a SEAL.
She had assume that the journey would have placed them both to sleep but clearly not, hopefully the lack of a nap would mean that both boys would go down easily to sleep that evening.
Danni ignored the looks and the wolf whistles which she received as she approached the shack and the picnic tables which were littered around it so that people could sit down and eat together. The looks and wolf whistlers were harmless, just a few locals who would always whistle at her with wide smiles on their faces. It just showed just how much everything had changed since the first time she arrived on the island when she received nothing but a barrage of insults at every turn, mostly from her own work colleagues so she was more than happy to take the compliment for what it was.
She couldn't help but smile as she came close to the table where she could see her husband and their workmates sitting together. Steve had been talking to Chin who was seated diagonally from him on the opposite side when he suddenly stiffened and turned around, his gaze flickering over to the whistling, laughing men with a suspicious look before he twisted around further, his eyes landed on her. The look he shot the men as a result of realising who they had been whistling at caused the noise to die down instantly as the men began to subtly gather their belongings together and to walk away as quickly as they could from where Steve was without breaking into a run.
Danni shook her head, opening her mouth to reprimand him when Kono Kalakaua and Jenna O'Connor swooped down on her, excitedly saying hello to her while they acted as though they hadn't seen her for months when in reality they had seen her and the kids a couple of days before hand when they had come around the house for a girlie evening. She accepted their kisses on the cheek and allowed them to take a baby each, patting them both on the shoulder as they cooed at her sons before she pushed the stroller to the side of the table and sank down into the free space beside Steve which she knew had been left for her to take.
"Hey guys, it so good to see you all." She said, lifting her hand and waving at them before she allowed Steve to tilt her face towards him so he could kiss her, lingering over the contact with him before he pulled back. She looked around her with a smile which grew as her eyes landed on Kamekona as the large man lumbered up to where they were sitting with a large smile and a bowl full of shrimps in his hand which he placed in front of Danni with a flourish.
"So how is my favourite Detective and her baby boys? It's been too long since you graced me and my establishment with your presence." He stated in his booming voice as he straightened up again.
"I think you meant to say our baby boys Kame, let's not forget who fathered them both." Steve pointed out instantly, a smug, insanely proud look in his face as he wrapped his arms around Danni's shoulder and winked at her when she shrugged off his arm with a roll of her eyes.
"I would think everyone on this island and the surrounding area knows who Jago's and Ollie's father is Steve because you seem to think you have to announce it to everyone and their mother at any given time." She pointed out dryly before she focused her attention back on Kamekona. "I'm all good thanks for asking Kame. I'm sorry I haven't manage to get here to see you since getting out of the hospital, it just difficult trying to fit everything about the boys and Emmy and Gracie, they all have a schedule I have to keep to." She admitted before pushing the topic away as she looked around her, waving her hand out to indicate the packed picnic tables around them. "It looks like your business is doing as well as ever, though it's not exactly that big a surprise really given how good the food is here."
"You know it Sistah, I'm gonna think about opening up a fourth place as well. Got to strike when the iron is hot." Kamekona responded gleefully, an almost sly look in his eyes as he no doubt thought about his newest venture and the money it would bring in for him.
"You definitely do." Danni agreed with a nod, watching as Kamekona turned away from her, his eyes focusing on both James and Oliver with a considering look on his face. James was resting in Kono's arms, being bounced up and down in a way which made Danni concerned that Kono may soon be wearing the milk which James had consumed just before they had come out, while Oliver was still with Jenna being gently swayed from side to side.
"Lets have a look at these two little Keikis then." He announced as he moved over to them both. "Hello Jago, hello Ollie, I'm your Uncle Shamu." He told them, his voice gentle as he introduced himself to James and Oliver who both shifted, turning to look at Kamekona, James made a small little squealing sound which caused Danni to smile only to have it widen into a grin moments later when Kamekona responded. "Hello to you too." He stated gravely, his small dark eyes twinkling as he reached down and took one of their hands in his and gently shook them up and down before carefully releasing them.
"It looks like we can add another willing slave to the list for James and Oliver. At this rate they'll have more devoted followers then even Emily had." Steve murmured against her ear, his arm creeping around her waist, resting his palm against her hip as he brushed a soft kiss against her temple.
"Is there anyone who has met them in person who isn't on that list?" Danni countered wryly, still smiling before she reached out and picked up one of the shrimp from the bowl which Kamekona had given her and popped it into her mouth. She made a hum of happiness at the back of her throat as the taste of sweet chilli exploded over her tongue.
There was no doubt that Kamekona knew how to do good shrimp.
She ate a few more content to simply eat and listen to the conversation and laughter which was rushing over her, making her momentarily miss being apart of the team on a daily basis. She glanced towards Steve when he burst out laughing at something which Chin had said to him and went to turn away when she stopped, her eyes snagging on a flash of white peeking out from beneath the sleeve of Steve's grey t-shirt.
She quickly swallowed her mouthful, twisting around on the bench and reached out to Steve, pushing the sleeve of his t-shirt up and exposing the bandage to her eyes which was underneath. A bandage which she knew for certain hadn't been there that morning when he had left their home to go to work.
"Everything okay Danni?" Steve asked, falling silent when she held up her other hand at him in a classic stop sign.
"What happened here?" She demanded lowly, tapping her fingertip lightly against the rough white material to indicate what she meant, her eyes flickering between Steve and Riley noticing the sheepish look which they both shared with each other.
"What did I tell you" Steve stated proudly, rather than answering Danni's question. She glanced towards Riley in time to see him sigh and shake his head as he reached out and retrieved his wallet from his pocket and flipped it open, taking out a ten dollar bill which he reluctantly held out to Steve.
Danni looked back at her husband in time to see him reach out and take the money from the other man, his arm tightening around her to stop her from moving away from him.
"You said that Danni would notice the bandage within five minutes of joining us here, ten minutes if she ended up in a conversation with someone first." Riley replied in a resigned tone.
"Exactly and I was right." Steve commented in a smug tone.
"You should know better than to make a bet with Steve when the topic in question has anything to do with Danni brah, I bet the Boss man has notebooks filled with stuff about Danni that he studies regularly to keep his mind fresh on everything." Kono commented on a laugh as she took her seat and began picking at the leftovers from her own lunch now that her hands were free again since James was being held by Kamekona.
"I can neither confirm nor deny that those notebooks exist." Steve replied with a shrug of his shoulders.
"You know you guys could have warned me about his superhuman knowledge on how Danni is going to react to situations before I went and accepted the terms of his bet." Riley stated, glancing towards Jack O'Connor when the tall, blond man laughed and slapped his hand lightly down on Riley's shoulder.
"Be honest with yourself, if we had told you not to make the bet, would you have listened to us or would you have seen it as a challenge?" He asked him, sounding amused as he took his hand back.
Riley opened his mouth to respond when he stopped abruptly, nodding his head towards Danni, bringing the others attention to her. She could well imagine the look which would have been on her face at that moment in time. As much as she loved her friends if she didn't get an answer to her question soon then they were going to have issues.
"He's absolutely fine Danni, I promise, the bullet was a through and through." Riley reassured her as he moved awkwardly on the bench, his expression melting into an expressionless one as he continued to speak. "It was my fault that he was injured on the job and I'm sorry, I shoved him out of the way of another bullet just as this other guy snuck up on us and shot at us, his bullet went through his arm."
"It's just a through and though." Danni repeated, reaching up and pinching the bridge of her nose, squeezing her eyes shut at all the images going through her mind and the knowledge that the bullet could have easily ended up somewhere else.
"Hey, hey, hey, look at me, I know what you're doing right now and you need to stop." Steve murmured as he brought his hands up and framed her face, tilting her head back so he could leaned forward and kiss her softly before he moved back, searching her eyes closely making her wonder not for the first time what went on in his mind when he had that expression on his face. "I'm absolutely fine Ku'u Lei. Both Hazel and Quinn were the EMTs on the scene and you know what they are both like when it comes to all our wellbeing. If they had any doubts then they would have thrown me into the back of the ambulance and transported me to the nearest hospital to where we were." He reassured her, speaking of Quinn and Hazel Lewis who somehow always managed to be the EMTs of the scene when something went down with Five-O since day one of the taskforce being set up.
Danni sighed, the tension slowly easing out of her shoulders as she turned to look at Riley, her eyes searching his dark eyes, picking up on the guilt buried in them. She smiled at him.
"Next time a situation happens where he's being shot at then I would suggest you just push him into the nearest body of water and leave him to it. He's half fish anyway." She advised the older man who grinned at her in response.
"If I'm half fish then that means that Emily, James and Oliver are as well." Steve pointed out as he nuzzled his nose into her hair, clearly ignoring the good natured eye rolls and grumbles which the rest of the team made at the action. They were more than used to seeing the softer side of Steve escaping when Danni or their children were around him. "Besides Danni, all of this went down in the warehouse district, there was no ocean around at the time that this happened."
"Well that's not entirely true is it Boss? Chin and I saw a large fish tank with water in it while we were in the warehouse with you. Riley could have easily have picked you up and thrown you in there to keep you safe." Kono told him sweetly, grinning when Chin snorted from where was sitting, the sound causing the others to laugh as well.
"So Danni." Chin commented once he had his amusement under control, turning his dark eyes on her. "Steve mentioned earlier on that you, he and the kids were heading away this weekend to see Pearl Harbor?" He asked her curiously as he picked up one of his own shrimps and popped it into his mouth, the simple action causing Danni to wrinkle her nose up in remembrance. It was a well known fact in their taskforce that Chin loved to add hot, spicy sauces to whatever food he had and would drench it in the stuff. All of them had made the mistake of trying one of his shrimp once and none of them, not even Steve or Riley, had gone back for a second one and tended to refuse any offer of food which Chin made towards them.
"That is our plan Chin." Danni replied, knocking Steve's hand away when it edged towards her bowl of food clearly intent on stealing one of her own shrimp. Normally she would happily share with him but after a morning of rushing around the place, packing and dealing with two young babies, she was starving and in need of every shrimp she could get to build her energy back up. "Though I'm not exactly sure how we plan to do it because that part of our vacation is firmly in the hands of the hubby. My job is to make sure we have everything we need packed for it and to have the kids ready to go when we need to leave."
She smiled when she heard the pleased sound that Steve made beside her. She was well aware of what it did to Steve when she referred to him as either her husband or her hubby in public or to people during a conversation. She had questioned him about it once, genuinely curious about the reason only for him to tell her that being her husband was something which he had hoped for since he had first met her and it had been a dream which he had assumed would never come true. The fact that it had and that she called him husband tended to blow his mind every time she did it.
Danni looked towards Steve, rolling her eyes when she saw that he was making a big show of rubbing the back of his hand where she had pushed against him before he spoke, a warm lazy tone to his voice which she knew that most people outside of herself and the team would have never heard from him before. It was a tone which she liked to think was reserved for her alone.
"If I know anything about you Danni then it's the fact that you've already packed everything we need for the trip. I assuming the only packing left to be done is my belongings and Grace's stuff and the only reason you wouldn't have touched her stuff is because she takes after you and is stubborn and determined to pack everything for herself." Steve stated with a shake of his head, the smile playing around his mouth softening his words. It was no secret to anyone that Steve adored her step daughter thinking of her as his own.
"She's thirteen, she has a right to pack her own belongings" Danni told him with a shrug. "As for you, I haven't packed for you but I have laid out what I think you might want to bring with you." She stated, ignoring the amused looks which crossed their teammates faces at her declaration.
"Which is Danni's polite way of saying that she had packed for you but hasn't put it into the bag so you can do that and feel like you had a say in things." Louisa Palakiko-Cowan said on a laugh as she reached out and patted Danni on her forearm. "Don't worry, I do the same with Sam. If I left him to pack for himself then god only knows what he would end up with, probably nothing that he actually needs for a trip."
"Something like that" Danni said with a laugh of her own before she focused on Steve who was watching her with a half resigned, half fond look on his face. "The main thing is that we're packed and good to go, have you arranged everything on your side or are there still things you think you need to do?" She asked him curiously, tilting her head slightly to the side as she waited for him to answer her.
"I've arranged for our travel over there and also dealt with where we'll be staying while we're out there. I've got a friend of mine who works at Pearl and he's going to get us a really good deal so it shouldn't cost us too much." He stated as he picked up his can of coke from the table surface and took a long sip of it, his gaze never leaving her face.
"That is music to my ears, I always like when a plan comes nicely together." Danni remarked with a smile which grew when he nodded at her. "What time are we planning on leaving tomorrow? Are we going to head over there first thing or wait until the afternoon to go?"
"We're leaving the house tomorrow at nine, that way everyone gets to have a slight sleep in." He answered her, stealing another kiss from her. Danni smiled, glancing over her shoulder as James made a small sound of discontent in time to see Kamekona hand the baby over to her twin brother who took him easily, resting his nephew against his broad shoulder while Kamekona turned with a wave at them and headed over to the shack where a long queue had begun to form.
"Are you okay holding them David? Jenna? Because if not then I can take them both back if you want?" Danni asked them both as she dropped her hand beneath the table and rested her palm against Steve's thigh, smiling when Steve automatically covered her own hand with his, interlinking their fingers together and squeezing down lightly on it.
"I'm all good here Danni, having some cuddle time with this little cutie is hardly what I would call a hardship and it's good practice." Jenna replied as she pulled faces at Oliver who stared back at her with a rapt expression on his small face. Danni nodded, her eyes briefly dropping to Jenna's small baby bump which she was proudly sporting before she turned back to Steve just as he begun to speak quietly to her.
"So, is it time for us to put the kids to bed yet and to jump into that Jacuzzi together?" He murmured into her ear, the combination of his husky tone and his warm breathe against her sensitive skin making her shiver.
"If only it was, you're going to have be patient and wait beloved but I promise that I'll make it worth your while." She replied softly before her attention was caught by Riley's face lighting up as he looked at something behind them all. Danni twisted in her seat, a smile coming to her own face when she saw Rosie Lange walking towards them with an apologetic look on her face.
Danni let go of Steve's hand aware of him watching her as she came up to her feet in time to twist around and hug the other woman when she came to a stop by them. It had been a while since she had managed to see Rosie due to their clashing schedules and she had found herself missing the older woman.
"So, sorry I'm late." Rosie said, lifting her hand up and waving at them before she moved around the table, ducking her head down and giving Riley a quick kiss on the lips. "I'd have been here earlier but you know how it goes." She explained.
"We certainly do." Kono said, giving the other woman a hug of her own as Danni retook her seat.
Danni glanced over at Steve when his cell phone suddenly went off indicating he had a text, she watched as a frown come to his face, her own heart sinking. She would recognise that look and what it meant anywhere. A hunch which was confirmed a moment later when he came to his feet, attracting the others attention to him.
"Sorry to do this guys but lunch is now over for the day, SWAT have just messaged stating they need us to provide them with some back up at the old bank. Sorry Red to leave just as you arrive but you know how it is." He said, directing the last portion of his comment at Rosie who merely nodded at him, a look of understanding on her face. Danni watched as he headed around the table, extracting the twins from Jenna and David, he kissed the two small boys on the top of their heads before he moved back to Danni and gently deposited them into her arms. "Jenna, we need you at the office, Toast is at a meeting this lunchtime so you'll have to be our eyes and ears." He told her before giving Danni a second distracted kiss, as though he had forgotten the first one, and headed towards Riley's SUV.
"Be careful." She called after him, watching the rest of the team all hurry after Steve before she moved over to the stroller, strapping both boys in and took her seat, staying close to them in case they needed her. She glanced at Rosie when the red head sat down with a sigh, shoving her large bag on the bench beside her.
"This is what I call typical." Rosie stated on a sigh as she shook her head. "Just as I arrive, they all have to race off on the job. I meant to be here earlier on but the autopsy I was conducting ran over and then the Detective who was running the case came down to the morgue and kept asking non stop questions and kept demanding that the report was with him ASAP. He keeps calling as well, like get the hint man, your report will be with you at the end of the week, the same as everyone's preliminary reports are."
"I've lost track of how many times I've met a Detective like that, they get tunnel vision and seem to forget that perhaps the people helping him or her on the case, also has other cases and work to do.." Danni remarked, reaching over and placing Oliver's little Seal toy beside him, smiling when his small hand immediately grabbed onto it. She looked back at Rosie. "If you're worried that Riley is going to be annoyed that you're late or say something then I wouldn't worry about it. Riley understand just how pressured your work can be though do feel free to tell me how things are going between the two of you? We haven't had much time to talk recently what with everything and I am seriously feeling out of the loop with things." She stated with a shake of her head.
"Can't have that." Rosie teased with a grin before she continued. "Things between Riley and I are going really good, so good in fact that I'm beginning to wonder where exactly he's been all my life. There's just something about him Danni, and the sex between us, well let's just say that I'm surprised the bed doesn't burst into flames sometimes." She remarked, a dreamy look on her face before she visibly pulled herself together. "I can see why, if your husband is like Riley at all, why you can't keep your hands off of each other when you're together and why you have three young children." She remarked with a raised eyebrow.
"Steve certainly is something special, there's no denying that." Danni admitted softly before her eyes narrowed slightly. "So do you see yourself and Riley taking the next step with each other or is that still far away in the future to be considered by future Ros?"
"Which next step are we talking about? Are we talking about us getting a place together or me and Riley getting married and perhaps having a kid of our own?" Rosie questioned, sounding curious.
"All of the above." Danni responded, leaning her forearms on top of the table and grabbing another shrimp, popping it into her mouth as she waited.
"We might have started up a dialogue with one another about moving in together but we're not sure, or rather I'm pretty sure but he's not, not because he doesn't love me because I know he does but more because I don't think he's actually lived with anyone before and I think it worries him what it might entail." Rosie stated with a frown. "So safe to say that marriage and kids is not a topic that has come up though if I had my way then yeah, I think I would marry him Danni and start a life with him." She admitted.
"All you can do is show him that you're here for the long run and that you are here to stay and care for him. Once he realises that then everything will fall into space, I know from little things that Steve has let slip that the last five years have been harsh on him and of course it doesn't help that the first time he comes to Hawaii, HPD throw him in jail for a crime he didn't commit, that can't have helped." Danni said with a shake of her head.
"God no" Rosie agreed fervently. "I think he worries about the nightmares he has and that he may end up lashing out against me."
"The nightmares are definitely something which you're going to have to get used to if you move in with one another." Danny agreed with a sigh. "Steve still gets them to this day and I find that the easiest way to help him is to stay close to him, it seems to calm him to have me around though he could also be using it as an excuse for some skin on skin action, I wouldn't put it past him," She said with a wink and a laugh to show that she was joking.
"Yeah, I know that feeling well, it's just going to have to be something I deal with and something that we work out together." Rosie said, giving Danni a grin. "So, Riley mentioned over the phone earlier that you and Steve are planning on taking the munchkins away on vacation from tomorrow? Have you got any idea how long you're going for? I'm just asking because I know we had plans for the four of us to have dinner with one another on Sunday night but I can easily call the restaurant and rearrange it with them, there's no charge for cancelling or anything." She commented.
"Yeah, sorry but I think we'll still be away at that time, I've got a feeling that Steve wants us to stay out there for as long as possible. He's due back at work on Tuesday from what I gather so I'm guessing we'll get home late on Monday night." Danni replied, shooting the other woman an apologetic look. "Steve has his heart set on making the most of our time together and I can't really blame him. I can't actually remember the last time Steve and I went on vacation, I've a horrible feeling that the last time was when Emmy was born and we took her to the mainland to show her to mine and Steve's families."
"Definitely time for a holiday then, especially after giving birth to twins, if anyone deserves some relaxation and pampering then it's you. I still don't know how you managed it." Rosie admitted.
"Well there wasn't exactly much choice in the matter, they couldn't stay in there regardless of how comfortable they were." Danni pointed out, pulling a face as she thought back to the labour before pushing the thought away, the less she dwelled on that, the better.
"Do you think you'll do the same with the twins as you did with Emmy?" Rosie asked, going onto explain when Danni shot her a questioning look. "You know, taking them to the mainland to meet your family and to meet Steve's family?" She clarified.
"Oh yeah we are but later on in the year. Steve's been saving all his leave up so we can fly out and spend thanksgiving with his family, we're hoping to spend about two maybe three weeks with them before flying over to where my parents live and spending the Christmas and New Year period with them. We'll be gone a while but we've both decided it was for the best and thankfully the Governor has already agreed to giving us the time which is a weight off of our minds." Danni stated.
"Wow, so that must be six weeks in total or something similar right?" Rosie said, her eyes rapidly moving from side to side as though she was trying to work out the time in her mind.
"Yeah I think it's about that length. As I said, Steve ended up carrying over some leave from last year so that combined with this year means he can just about manage it and still have a few days to play around with if he wants to. I'll still be on maternity leave at that time so it won't affect me but we have been planning this holiday since the day we found out we were expecting the twins. This little trip to Pearl is just a small treat to ourselves." Danni said.
"A much needed one I'm guessing when you consider everything the two of you have been through recently. You'll have to drop me a message when you get back and I'll rebook the double date then. I don't want to book until I know your schedule because I know Riley and I have the ability to be more flexible." Rosie told her.
"That sounds good to me, Chin has already said that he's happy to babysit the kids for us so when I'm back at the house shortly I'll text you when we're free, that way you can book it before we come back." Danni said with a nod.
"Awesome, leave it all to me and I'll take care of it. So are you actually looking forward to your time away?" The red head queried, watching Danni closely as the blonde considered her question carefully before she answered her.
"You know, I really am. Gracie can't wait and Steve is in his element planning it which is good to see. Plus it's the twins first trip which makes it a big deal as well. It's what we need and I know it will be special." Danni said, glancing over to the twins thankful to see that both boys looked content.
"I think this vacation is exactly what the Doctor ordered for you." Rosie agreed as she reached across and snagged on of Danni's shrimps from her bowl and popped it in her mouth with a wink.
"It is and even better is the fact that Steve and I should be able to spend some couple time together." Danni said happily, the comment causing Rosie to laugh softly.
"Couple time is always a good thing, no one can deny that." Rosie agreed before steering the conversation away from that and onto the latest case at her work.
There would be plenty of time to talk about the vacation later on after all.
