Chapter 1: To the Past
Once upon a time, the Duck Family took on Magica de Spell, the Moonlanders, F.O.W.L, and even bigger threats. Afterwards, everyone lived happily. Especially those who had fallen in love during those times. Including Fenton Crackshell Cabrera (aka Gizmoduck) and Gandra Dee. Even after some crazy wild emotions the two managed to settle down and start a family. A little girl named Maria.
They loved her with all their hearts and she loved them back. Maria also had a love for robots herself and eventually created one of her own, who she named Texter, he was a tiny robot with four fingers, that had a screen for a face that showed his emotions and could communicate through sign language. Most importantly, Maria was happy with her family.
Until something horrible struck down in Duckburg.
Out of nowhere, several robots came out of the ground and started attacking everyone in town. Despite Gizmoduck's best efforts it seemed that more kept appearing, and were becoming smarter the longer they were being fought. For their own safety, Gandra and Maria were in an underground bunker along with Texter. He was sitting on Maria's shoulder as Gandra was fiddling with a t.v screen that was used as a communications device. Maria fiddled with her red necklace and matching bracelets, special gifts from her parents.
"Fenton? Fenton can you hear me?!" Gandra cried and the screen's static slightly faded out and revealed a blurred Gizmoduck.
"Gandra! Maria!" He exclaimed seeing his family.
"Daddy!" Maria cried and rushed over to the screen with worry in her eyes as she clutched Texter to her chest.
"I can't...much longer...get...out of...NOW!" Gizmoduck cried and a robot suddenly jumped onto his back causing Maria to scream in horror. The screen went static and Gandra struck the t.v with her electricity and Gizmoduck was again seen throwing several robots off of him.
"Gandra listen! I know what powers these robots...the Third Eye Diamond!" He exclaimed and Gandra's eyes widened.
"But that's impossible! When we defeated F.O.W.L, it was destroyed in the final explosion. We all saw Funso's explode!" Gandra said, in denial.
"I know but..." Gizmoduck was cut off by at least five robots trampling in and pinning him down. "ARG!...It must have survived somehow...there's one way to stop this..."
"What?" Gandra asked.
"Operation Rubber Duck."
Gandra's eyes widened, knowing full well what that meant. She looked down at Maria with fear in her eyes and her daughter innocently looked back up with her worried eyes.
"Mommy?"
"Fenton Crackshell Cabrera, you CANNOT be serious." She hissed, only for her anger to flee as she saw her husband struggle against the robots that were ripping apart his suit.
"It's the only way! Gandra we can save our family and friends! Please Gandra!" Fenton pleaded and before she could reply a loud crash was heard above them and Maria screamed.
"Mommy they're coming!" She screamed and Gandra turned back to Fenton on the screen.
"I love you!" She cried as tears streamed in her eyes and his visor cracked under a robots claw as Gizmoduck smiled.
"I love you too."
The screen went black.
"Daddy! NO! DADDY!" Maria cried as Gandra scooped up her daughter and ran down one of the tunnels. Maria clutching Texter as she buried her face in her mothers hold as tears streamed down her face.
"Maria listen to me, we are going to Uncle Gyro's bunker. In there is the time tub. Remember?" Gandra asked and Maria nodded, giving a muffled response.
"We're going to use that and get the Third Eye Diamond, and hopefully destroy it before it gets into the wrong hands." Gandra explained. She kept running until they saw a door open at the end of the tunnel. The hatch opened, revealing Manny who's stone head was wrapped in bandages due to the cracks in his head. Gandra gave a soft smile, only for it to fade when she heard a loud crash from behind and Maria screamed.
The robots were starting to break through the roof.
Thinking fast, Gandra pushed Maria and Texter forward towards Manny, but Maria refused to run ahead.
"No Mommy! Come with us!" She pleaded.
"Maria listen to me, I can keep the robots away long enough for you to escape. You know what to do." Gandra said quickly and tears weld up in Maria's eyes.
"I can't do this without you!" Maria cried and Gandra hugged her daughter.
"Your father and I believe in you. Now go!" Gandra shoved her daughter forward into Manny's hooves and slammed the hatch close as the robots burst through the ceiling and Gandra turned to face them, with anger in her eyes.
"You're dead metal heads."
Meanwhile Maria was clawing at the door. She wasn't ready to leave her mom behind. Manny scooped her up once more and Maria stopped struggling as she went limp as the headless horse placed her in a high tech time tub. It was more metallic than the original and was more updated. Texter signed 'Thank you' before Manny threw a wool blanket over the two. Maria quickly adjusted the knobs and it quickly disappeared in a flash.
That's when the robots broke through the safe and Manny turned to face them, but a robot held up Gandra's limp body and threw her down. If Manny had eyes, they widened in horror. He bent down and picked her up, only to see that she wasn't breathing. Manny was about to attack the robots when a shadowy figure approached them.
"Well, well. The Headless Man Horse, you and the resistance had been hidden well, but it appears that my robots have finally found you all." He smirked and the robot by him suddenly beeped and he turned.
"What is it?" He asked and the robot projected a screen on its chest, revealing some data that made his eyes widened.
"The time tub has been used..." He murmured and chuckled. "Very clever of you, but don't think that you've won. This is a minor setback. Whoever was sent back in time to prevent the future I have worked so hard to create will be dealt with...I can promise that."
Manny was quickly angered and attempted to attacked the figure, but the robots smacked him down and the head came off, smashing on the ground as his body fell limp on the ground.
"Robots, prepare to search the bunker. The time tub sent back in time was merely a updated version. Find the original! We need to stop our enemies!" He ordered and the robots scattered around as he smirked.
"See you soon, Maria."
The time tub was traveling through time and space as Maria was curled up in a ball, hugging Texter and trying not to cry. She didn't want to do this on her own, but her parents were counting on her. Maria looked down at Texter, who asked if she was okay.
"I've been better...this ride is a little more bumpy than I anticipated..." She replied and Texter crossed his arms as he frowned. Clearly not buying her answer.
"Okay, okay. I'm really scared Mommy and Daddy are gone and we may only have one shot to change the future...but I have you...and I'm sure we can do this...together." She said and gripped Texter's hand. He returned the gesture, but the time tub suddenly became extremely rough and Maria's head hit the side and lost conscious.
DUCKBURG: PRESENT TIME
"You guys really didn't have to come." Fenton said as he pushed a grocery cart through a market. Huey and Webby has decided to join him in shopping.
"Are you kidding? Shopping at a super market is awesome! Look at all the apples!" Webby exclaimed as she rushed over and grabbed a Granny Smith and Pink Lady.
"They are so different!"
"Right, anyway it's nice to do something relaxing after the Moonvasion, traveling to Japan and keeping a giant snake from taking over the Earth, it's nice to do something normal for once." Huey explained as Fenton took some of the apples from Webby and put them in the cart.
"I suppose you're right. It is nice to just enjoy the super market." Fenton agreed.
"That reminds me, have you heard from Gandra?" Huey suddenly asked and Fenton sputtered. Wondering how Huey went from shopping to asking about his first date.
"W-what? W-where did that come from?" He asked, hoping they couldn't see his flush.
"Well you still have your date picture up on your lab station, and I was just wondering...if you two have gone on several other dates since then!?" Huey asked with an excited gleam in his eyes. Fenton gave an awkward laugh and grabbed a few items off the shelf as a distracting.
"I'm sorry to say that I haven't heard from her...I mean sure, I've been thinking a lot about her, tried calling a couple times a week only to receive no answer, left a bunch of messages, looked for her while I was on patrol, but I haven't heard from her..."
"Hey suit."
"GAH!" Fenton turned around to see Gandra behind him, holding a grocery basket on her arm as she waved to him.
"Fancy seeing you here." She smirked and Fenton grinned while failing to see that Webby was squealing in the background.
"Oh Gandra Hi! I...I haven't seen or heard from you in a while." Fenton waved and Gandra reached into her pocket to pull out her phone.
"Yeah sorry, my phone and I had an accident." She explained and recalled her phone's screen was badly crackled and was even sparking.
"Whoa...how did that happen?" Fenton asked and Gandra shrugged.
"Long story. Anyway, sorry I haven't seen you in a while. I guess I've just been busy." She said and Fenton rubbed the back of his neck.
"Yeah, I...I was worried about you. During the Moonvasion I mean..."
"Oh, I was able to hide out in a bunker with a few other people until the heat died down." Gandra explained. Fenton let out a sigh of relief and his eyes widened and sputtered for a moment.
"I mean...uh...I was just worried you were hurt...not that you can't defend yourself, but I...I mean they...uh."
"And Fenton here actually finally became a Doctor...eh...eh?" Huey interjected, trying to help his favorite scientist out.
"No way, good for you suit." Gandra congratulated while playfully punching him in the arm.
"Haha, thanks. It's nothing." Fenton denied and Gandra raised an eyebrow as she grabbed a box of pasta from off the shelf and into her basket.
"I wouldn't say that, you've earned it." Gandra said and that's when Webby walked over.
"Hi I'm Webby, remember? I was kidnapped by Mark Beaks after he drank your nanite serum!" She asked brightly and Fenton gave another awkwardly laugh.
"Oh, right. Sorry about that. I didn't think he'd been dumb enough to drink more than of the vials, that was on me." Gandra apologized awkwardly.
"Ah, it's okay. You helped out in the end." Webby said, waving it off.
"Uh, thanks?" Gandra replied, not knowing what else she could respond with. Huey then nudged Fenton and gestured to Gandra.
"This is your chance, ask her out on another date!" He whispered and Fenton felt himself go tense, but taking another look at Gandra his worried seemed to ease and he cleared his throat.
"Hey Gandra, I was wondering if..."
"Polloito! There you are!" Fenton turned to see his mother waving as she walked over to them.
"M'ma!" He gasped as she grabbed him for a kiss on the cheek.
"I finally found my brand of shampoo. I swear, they keep changing their logo." She said and then noticed Gandra and her eyes widened.
"And who is this?" She asked excitedly.
"Oh right! Gandra, this is my mom, M'ma, this is Gandra." He introduced and Huey squealed as Webby went next to him.
"Meeting the parents, a huge step when it comes to a relationship." He whispered.
"Oh...right." Webby nodded.
"Hi, it's once to meet you." Gandra greeted and held out her hand and Officer Cabrera shook it eagerly.
"Oh it's so nice to meet you! I was hoping we'd run into each other. Polloito, why don't you invite her for dinner this weekend?" She suggested.
"M'ma!" Fenton muttered through gritted teeth. They only went on one date! Wasn't dinner at their place too big of a step?
"Sure, sounds good." Gandra replied.
"Wait what? Really?" Fenton asked and she nodded.
"Yeah, unless you don't want to..."
"No! I mean, of course, I just didn't know you would want to...and...I'm glad your coming!" Fenton exclaimed and Gandra, held in a chuckle.
"Great, well I have to get going. I want to get my phone fixed. I'll call you when I get it back!" She waved and headed for the check out line and Fenton waved back.
"Yeah...bye..."
"Wow! That was really easy." Webby commented and Fenton was about to respond, but his phone rang. It was Dr. Gearloose.
"Oh hi Doctor..."
"GET OVER HERE NOW!" Gyro cried over the phone, so loud that Fenton held the phone at arms length.
"What? What's going on?" Fenton asked frantically.
"There's been a break in..."
FIVE MINUTES EARLIER: GYRO GEARLOOSE'S LAB
The scientist was busy working on his latest experiment when a bright flash appeared in the room. Gyro, Boyd, Manny, and Lil'Bulb turned their heads away due to the intensity of the light. When the flash subsided the upgrade time tub stood in its place.
The four stared for a moment, Gyro's eyes widened as he gasped, and Boyd curiously walked over reaching his hand out to touch it.
"What is that?" He questioned, only for Gyro to pull him away.
"No, don't even think about it. Everyone out, NOW!" Gyro ordered and pulled them to the elevator.
"Manny, lock down the lab and call Mr. McDuck. We have an intruder, and I am not letting them leave this lab!" He cried.
"But Dr. Gearloose, what if there isn't anything dangerous?" Boyd asked innocently.
"We can't be too careful...this could very well be one of the most dangerous things we've ever dealt with." Gyro explained.
No one knew that underneath the blanket was Maria, who was clutching Texter and stirred for a moment before tears streamed down her face.
Author's Note:
So...a few of you are probably wondering why I decided to start a whole new story instead of continuing Somebody Always Gets Hurt...
Let me explain, I have had this idea with Fenton and Gandra's future daughter traveling back in time. Like since I saw Moonvasion...it was a lot different than this version, and I recently got inspired to write a full story. I intend to finish it during the hiatus.
And since June is my birthday month, it's like a birthday gift for me. While I have other stories, this will be my main priority though. I have it all planned out.
Also, the cover has a picture of Maria, which was made on the site All Ducked Out. It is a great program that I used to create her. I hope it looks okay!
